I don't even know where to start with East Coast Wings + Grill, but if you're into watching time crawl while your will to live slowly fades, this might be your spot. We walked in to a nearly empty restaurant -- literally TWO tables and somehow still managed to experience the slowest service known to mankind. It took forever to get something as basic as a refill, and a solid 45 minutes for 20 wings. Not 200. Not some complicated order. Just wings. At a wings place. The food? Fine. Completely average. Definitely not worth the wait or the growing suspicion that the entire staff shares a single brain cell. But the real highlight? The bill. Or should I say... bills. Our total was around $50. Cool. I hand over my card, thinking we're finally escaping. She brings it back suddenly it's $100. I check my bank account, and sure enough, I've been charged wrong. Then, just to keep things exciting, there's ANOTHER charge for $56 floating around. I don't know if she was trying to pull a fast one on me but I wasn't impressed. When I pointed it out, I didn't get urgency, accountability, or even basic competence -- just a casual "it might go back into your account... if not, you can come talk to a manager." I live an hour and a half away! Oh, perfect. Let me just take a casual 3-hour round trip to fix your mistake. For context: I'm a server too. I get it. Mistakes happen. But this wasn't a mistake, this was a full blown circus. This young lady should NOT be a waitress!! I was still kind and smiling and still tipped but I will NEVER go back. Slow service, questionable billing, and zero sense of responsibility. If you value your time, money, or sanity, do yourself a favor and go literally anywhere else. I've given this place about half a dozen more chances than they deserve because I love this type of food. But I'm done. I'm here right now. My to go order placed over 25mins ago, still not ready, and there is literally ONE TABLE with people dining. Just look at all the reviews here and the Google reviews, you can see this is a big time problem here. Their speed of service isn't just bad it is nearly non existent. Came here today and let me tell you about my experience. First me and my friends sit down and the server Madison didn't say hey or anything just looked at us . We actually had to tell her what we wanted to drink. I asked it they had Bloody Marys and she immediately said no. We proceeded to tell her we wanted a water and she came back with our drinks and we gave her our food order. I asked if than they had Moscow mule and she said no. 45 mins passed no food. Our food finally showed up it was absolutely disgusting. There was no flavor or anything. She was so ready for us to leave. She finally asked if we wanted our checks. As we were leaving guess what the special of the day was. Believe it or not it was a mule. Stop fake advertising. I have worked in the food service industry for several years in my lifetime. This is by far the worst experience I have ever had at any restaurant I've been to. The table was dirty, so the hostess, who also doubled as our waitress, independently told us she'd clean it; she then grabbed bottle of cleaner and with no warning started spraying the table, getting cleaner all over my significant other who was dining alongside me. In the process, the leaned practically in my lap to wipe the table. After 10 minutes, we had our drink order taken. Another 15 minutes pass, and we finally get our drinks and takes our order. Cue the 45 minute wait for our food. We took into consideration that there was a 12 top that had already been there when we arrived; however, door dash after uber after grub hub order passed us by as we quickly realized why the couple to our right walked out on their check, they had probably been waiting an hour for it. The food itself was good and hot; however, that was to no credit of care for quality. The kitchen had forgotten our order, then our "wait"ress informed us she had to argue with the kitchen to make our food because they were going to skip over it. Needless to say, we hypothesized she forgets to put our order in and had to ask for it on the fly. Oh, and surprise, surprise, my food was wrong. I didn't feel like waiting another 2 hours for the right food. We then waited another 35 minutes for our check so we could leave. As mentioned before, there are only so many hours in the day one can wait for a check. We paid our bill, left, and chuckled in the parking lot about how it felt like we had been there all day. To conclude, Having read the reviews from 4-5 YEARS back, I can say that NOTHING has changed. This place is doomed to fade into fast casual obscurity. Horrible Manager. If I could give it zero stars, I would. Wings are OK, but how it's ran takes away from the experience.

I was just grabbing some lunch with my family and witnessed a woman and her baby being kicked out of the restaurant, after being told to wait to be seated for at least 15 - 20 minutes. The manager stated the staff has reported that they have been mistreated by her and she is not welcome here, they would not even let her place a to go order! She was disgusting and rude to this lady, and all of this was done loudly to embarrass and humiliate her in front of everybody, just wrong. She was very pleasant to us as we let our son chat with her while they waited forever just to be told to leave. She was even nice to them when they were telling her to get out and acting irrationally. I can promise you this lady wasn't the problem and hasn't been, management was however and needs to be revamped AGAIN! She just lost you your 5 star review, and as I'm sure you can tell, you really can't afford to lose anymore stars based on other negative ratings. We have given them way too many chances and receive horrible service (or NO Service at all) for the last time! The past few times we have went we were completely ignored by everyone... from the hostess: who was on her cell phone the entire 15 minutes we stood there while she tried her hardest to not even glance in our direction, to the waitress: who waited on 3 other tables, who arrived AFTER we did,, before ever acknowledging us. When she finally came we had been inside the restaurant for 47 minutes, she asked to take our drink order, but NEVER brought them! I am not faulting her as they (Management) only schedules 1 waitress who is also THE BARTENDER!!!!! (NOT an off night where staff didn't show up, as we were told, and LIED to about). This was the case during 3 other visits as well!! Anyway... we finally had to flag down the manager, who had been on his laptop the whole time!, just to get the drinks we ordered and have food order placed. When it does arrive 35 minutes later (Restaurant not busy at this point as you can see from the photo), it was cold and the flavors were not labeled where we could distinguish the hot from the mild wings so our children's little mouths were burning so... you could say that our meal was completely ruined at that point and we had to leave before eating to go get them some chicken tenders at Culver's. Took my family to East Coast wings on the insistence of my son. Boy did we make a $77 dollar mistake. Right away we were informed by the ONLY waitress she was alone and service would be slow, but how slow could it be with only 3 tables occupied... very slow. 3 tables 10 people. Drinks were filled only after flagging down the host who he himself was looking as if he was sleep walking, never seen or heard from a manager. Not only was service almost non existent but our order was also wrong. We will not be returning, out of 4 trips it consistently has gotten worse. 60 flavors and yet all seem to taste the same way, wings just thrown on a plate and served. Ordered a bottomless basket of chips, received 2 baskets including the first, 2nd was all stuck together with my final chip tasting bad enough to have to put in a napkin. Time to close shop or hire management that cares what their customers think. We will go back to Boardwalk Billy's from now on. read more

We are VERY excited to see ECW has reopened! We never experienced any of the issues others have mentioned with the previous team, so we were surprised when they shut down. Last night we ordered for takeout, to see if anything had changed. I arrived a little before the scheduled pickup time, and was told the order was being put together. No problem, I stood and chatted with some of the front of house staff while I waited. I found them very engaged and pleasant to talk with. It was before 5:30 on a Saturday night, and they weren't too crowded yet, so families coming in were able to get seated quickly. My order came out after a short wait, and everything smelled amazing as I drove home to Matthews. Once I got there and got everything sorted out, it had been 20+ minutes since I left the restaurant and everything was still nice and hot. The wings, which we ordered extra crispy, still had a good crunch and weren't soggy at all. The loaded tots were tasty, maybe a little too soft for my liking (I like them crispy as well), and I'd rather have melted shredded cheese than cheese sauce. But those are just personal preferences. I also thought the cookie skillet was a little on the thin side, but delicious with loads of melty chocolate chips. The best thing about it was that the cookie wasn't overly sweet - I wish more places would make them like this, as I usually find them too cloyingly sweet to stomach. Bottom line, ECW continues to be the best wing place in the area. I honestly have never had any complaints about my food or service here, and I'm looking forward to having it back in our regular rotation. read more

They should close the bar and only serve beer so they don't have to figure out how to make a drink. They do have good wings and a crazy amount of sauces and dry rubs. Burgers look good too. Food is cold so they might consider a microwave if they can't use a deep fryer. Unfortunately, the service is what you might expect if you fail to train the staff. I came for lunch on a weekday afternoon it wasn't crowded at all. Soon after entering I was greeted it waiting at the front desk for a while the gentleman who was working the front realize that I was waiting for a table. There was plenty of staff and it seemed as though some staff were training others. The manager was present. She did not speak or come by to check or even say hello. The server and his trainee were nice they did not make any recommendations in the items that I inquired about and he had no knowledge of the taste. He hadn't tried many of the items yet. I got something basic that they couldn't mess up on.... so I thought. Soon after placing my order the food came out I was surprise considering it took less than five minutes when I got the wings I realize they serve me cold or old wings. I did state my displeasure with the taste and the temperature. I didn't really like my wings. How can you mess up basic food? I was charged an additional fee for the side considering I was on lunch special and the side is included with the lunch portion. I brought this to the managers attention and she informed me that on the menu it states that there is an up charge. You will see my picture of the lunch menu in my photo section. It is not state there is an additional charge for sides that come with the lunch special. It may be your experience may vary depending upon the day and a time that you come, but overall I do not recommend. Why take a chance when there are several places in the area that you can go to and have a great experience with good food. This place is new and I hope that they can make some changes and grow. Well.... We had an East Coast Wings in Orlando and it was one of our fav places to eat wings. While visiting family we were super excited to see an ECW open in the neighborhood so we took family to enjoy it. This is a brand new location so most of the issues I am hoping were related to new location, new staff and so on. I do want to mention that our server Sonya was excellent and tried so hard. It was her 2nd day and you could tell that she was a bit overwhelmed but she kept trying her best to handle the bussines. I am giving her 1 whole star just for being great. I told her that if she could handle all the crazy that she was going to be great. For ECW, I hope she stays, they need her! Our food taste was pretty on par for what we were used to but it took forever to get our order of wings. When they arrived some were cool to the touch while others were fresh so that was weird but we at least had food! Did I mention it too quite a while to get our order? It's not great when what you ordered is in the name of the restaurant and that is what takes the longest to get. I hope that things will come together and on another visit, we come back and everything works out and is great. So for now it's a 3 but I feel once they get their wing legs... they'll be up to a 4 :) For now, I wouldn't recommend going if you're in a hurry or don't have an hour plus to spare or if you're really hungry. Just saying. If you're looking for a place to hang out and chat (for a while) and are into a variety of nicely flavored wings, then head on in! Otherwise give them a month or 2. Also ask for Sonya! We put off trying this place due to the price for a little while. You can burgers and wings cheaper elsewhere. Since they're so close to where we live we finally decided to give it a shot. We ordered multiple meals and apps. My husband ordered wings because it's his favorite and got to try the wing for a place that has it right in the name. THEY RAN OUT OF WINGS! This is the 2nd time we've order take out and for the 2nd time. I am so disappointed in the food. This time the southwestern salad was a box full of lettuce, there was 3 tiny strips of chicken and less than 1/2 teaspoon of the corn/black bean salas and they didn't put the salad dressing in the bag, the burgers were over cooked and dry. The first time they left the cheese off the philly cheese steak, they again over cooked the burger and the fries were packed with grease. I suggested family eat here one day and they had horrible service and the wings were basic plus they charged 75 cents for the sauce on the wing special. Who charges for sauce on wings? Not extra just the initial sauce. I believe in giving a place a few chances but that's it, no more. Just wanted to give a heads up with a long story: Monday night we went to East Coast Wings and had a terrible experience. The servers were inattentive despite there being few tables. The only adult legal to pour beers was also the only cook, so both food and drinks were severely delayed. The wings came out lukewarm but were still edible. By the time we were checking out, we were very upset at the continued delays and had a baby melting down. We wanted to speak to a manager but both host and server had vanished so we gave up, paid, and went home. The next day I realized they charged us $18 for two beers (seemed to be the price for a growler) and did not give us the Monday wings discount, which meant we paid at least $25 more than we should have. I called the restaurant and asked to speak with a manager, and was told that only the GM could process a refund but he would be in the next day. We called the next day to confirm he was there and he said only a regional manager could do a refund, and he didn't work from that location, but he would take our cc info and pass it along. We didn't have the card at that moment, but my husband later called a different store and got ahold of the needed manager, who said absolutely the GM could do a refund and he would call the GM and find out when he'd be in to help. So TODAY we go in per the RMs instructions and the GM says "I don't know how, someone was supposed to call and tell me how." So hubby calls the RM, asks what the heck, and is told "I told him to just give you cash." SO we're ticked and starting to feel like we're being jerked around in hopes we'll just give up. I understand staffing issues, I've been a server and so has my husband, but this is beyond the pale. read more

UPDATE: had to order from this location multiple times recently, and today, as it's closest and I have spinal issues and it hurts to drive. They never get orders right. I had 3 entrees and they only gave us one ranch. When I usually spending $30-$50 for dinner I expect it to be right. It never is. I just won't eat east coast unless I'm in the waxhaw area from now on. They always mess up the order as in leaving food out, not giving you something you ordered, making it spicy when you told them to make sure it's not virgin, and not spicy, etc. They just need to close this location. I've NEVER had a good experience at this location. I just don't understand why they can NEVER get orders correct. More training obviously hasn't done them any good unfortunately. It's ridiculous as this point! They've just reopened. I'm assuming they closed before due to such poor service, and just not adequate training. Ordering in, or out I had never had a good experience service wise or food being correct. Well, my husband is there now, and they once again got my order wrong. They gave me the buffalo chicken dip, not a bowl of buffalo soup. The young man at the front desk is telling hubs that it's the soup, it's just thick. No, I've been getting this for a while from Waxhaw location, which I may add is EXCELLENT! But it's just way further, and Sun Valley location is more convenient. He is also telling my hubs that the to go container is the same size for all soups and dip...then why would I order a bowl, PAY more, when I could've ordered the cup, and gotten the same amount? They STILL haven't been retrained adequately, and I'm sad to say this location will fail once more. I hope they do better, but they haven't even been re opened two weeks, and it's just as bad as it was before. They finally spoke to somebody, whoever you are thank you, and fixed my order after hubs being there for like 15-20 mins. And they gave it to me in a huge cup, thank you once more. I just wanted my soup, and the bowl size it's supposed to come in. They need consistency, Waxhaw is a way better location and we will continue to make the longer trip to there. We both work retail and know how HARD it can be. But when people aren't trained properly, or just don't care, it's bound for failure. Working in retail, food, whatever it is that is all about customer connections, don't argue with customers, and make sure you know your menu before you try and lie to a customer. The taste of the various wing flavors was good, very good in fact...which is why I opted for the two star review as opposed to the one. However, the service was absolutely horrible. Multiple things wrong, some ordered items not even received. The length of time it took to serve the food was totally unacceptable. It was our first time here on a Saturday night. While we will admit a nice selection of flavors, the service absolutely was terrible on top of the experience I will share next. Let me preface this by saying, the place was only half full, and the bar was not packed at all. Perhaps a little less than 40% capacity when we were seated. We waited 11 minutes to get two Miller lights after we ordered them which we specifically requested to have limes with. It took us asking the server 3 separate times to get the limes. This was not cool at all. Next after we ordered our 5 flavor wing plate, we were very,very disappointed. While we received the wings, guess what we didn't have. 1) we had no silverware or plates 2) no celery or carrots 3) we specifically asked for blue cheese, and got ranch It took 9 minutes of us sitting there before we even got silverware or anything to eat it with. How on earth do you bring a plate out that isn't complete? Our food was freezing cold. We were so frustrated we just ate the food. We were super disappointed because we are an easy table, and were completely ignored. Sadly to say, I don't think we will ever come back. I don't know how you can screw up something like wings and beer. We spent over $40.00 on a very poor experience, and truthfully, I don't think our server had a clue about how bad it was. The table next to us was well taken care of, with multiple runs for beer margaritas and constantly checking up on them with multiple servers. We were left in the dark and I am very sad to say that while the food probably would be decent, the service and responsiveness is a 0 star for me. I live about 6 minutes from the restaurant and upon getting home discovered that our fries were cold, the wings were barely warm and we were missing our mac&cheese.
