Last night our family agreed to try Hickory Tavern in Wesley Chapel again after experiencing less than desirable service the last few times. We were blown away with the friendliness of the staff, service, food was scrumptious, and the attempts made to meet all the different football game request of the customers. After waiting a while, the manager came over to take our drink orders and said our server will be there soon. She ended up bringing our drinks and taking our food order. Merica burger was very good, burger with macaroni and cheese and bacon! I ordered my fries with the honey on the side but instead it was put on it. Kid burger was good. I am a Hickory Tavern newbie...but I will be back! I opted to eat light today so I only had the Brussel sprouts minus the bacon and drizzled with balsamic...Wowzer! My only regret was that I didn't order more! Well cooked, seasoned to perfection with just right "crunch". My other dinner guests had chicken Alfredo pasta and quesadillas. And they too, enjoyed their meal immensely. Looking for a great lunch spot while out running around. Do yourself a favor and slow down long enough to let yourself enjoy this place. My son has a track meet and this location is right down the street from the Weddington Middle,Elementary & High schools as well as the soccer fields. Also, if you are driving to the area from Charlotte, you will pass the MAJOR Congestion in Weddington; this is in the opposite direction and easy to get to and back. Inside it's nice and open with seating inside and out. There are also lots of TVs to watch on various channels Everything was clear and service was great. As I stated, my son had a track meet and ordered the chicken pasta. Although it was tasty, it was a little greasy for his stomach once he tasted it. The manger allowed us to send it back & just get some fries. She was really understanding and took it off the tab. (I still tipped the waiter on the full amount as if it was still on the bill) The quesadilla was the perfect lunch size even though it is on the appetizer menu. Because it's on the appetizer menu, it doesn't come with a side so I ordered the Tavern chips. They are homemade and so good and crispy!! I give it 4 stars only because in this day in time, they were very few vegan options. The only option was Brussel Sprouts and Sweet potato fries. They did offer the option of leaving the bacon out of the Brussel Sprouts. And putting the honey butter on the side of the sweet potato fries. Can I also share that the Sprouts had the PERFECT char!! Our family goes to Hickory Tavern all the time, it is one of the few places all three of our boys can agree on and have something on the menu for them to eat that they actually like. Last night we went and had a new server to us. his name is Josh. Josh was very attentive, and was super fast with anything we needed which was a pleasant change to typical service speed. He checked in regularly without it feeling like he was trying to rush you out to turn the table. One time he stopped by he noticed my son playing a game on his phone that he also plays. He asked if he could friend him and they immediately started trading things to help each other. My son was thrilled. We went in for dinner at one of our favorite restaurants and now we have a new favorite server. Looking forward to our next visit with Josh! read more

I would have a better review but for a sports bar they have more than half of their 30+ TVs tuned to ESPN. Fine and great except it plays nothing but commentary with minimum sports coverage and without volume. Can we turn the rest of them to The View also, just as entertaining. Better than average bar food. Food is generally good and served hot. Price is reasonable. Service is good. I wish it were more clean including the smell in the wash room to clean your hands. I too wish even a few of staff had a bigger personality as it would likely be more infectious and the quality and experience would be better and equal the cost of food. Allowing a better experience for consumers and too a better work place attracting quality staff and brining better salary for them. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to give the Hickory Tavern @Weddington two stars. There was a period where they came back in. Their food was good and their service was excellent. But now their food is mediocre and the service is horrible. I typically would do this, but this is the second time consistently that this is happened, where we had to go search for our waitress And the food seems to be satisfactory. They need to make sure their servers are more attention to their customers so the food is taken out while it's still hot and attentive to see if there's anything is needed instead of customers having to look for their wages. read more

For the most part it's a sports bar with sports bar food. Normally I get the Smokehouse burger which is very good. Tonight, I changed things up a bit and ordered the steak tacos. It was OK, but I will stick to the Smokehouse next time. Went early 530pm, no crowd and ate outside. Very comfortable. Service was satisfactory. They have macaroni and cheese on the menu as a side, so I decided to give that a shot. I'm not kidding when I say they brought me out a bowl of Kraft mac n cheese. How embarrassing for the waitress to have to bring that out with a straight face to an adult to eat. Absolutely pathetic. You pay a damn arm and a leg to go out to eat these days and you get boxed mac n cheese. Also, they used to bring out a giant plate of tavern chips when you ordered those and now it's just a tiny plate that's not worth it. Why did I pay $13 for no fries and cold tacos of which I could've made at home tbh. And this bad service is not due to understaffing - the waitresses were standing around chatting and most of the restaurant was empty. read more

We just had a great experience at the Wesley Chapel location. Fast service, friendly waitress, and food was all hot and perfect. We ordered a few smokehouse burgers, chicken tenders, sides of tater tots and roasted brussel sprouts, and everything was delicious (much more "gourmet" than expected for tavern food actually). I did not believe the bad reviews I read before going to the Hickory Tavern last night. I was wrong.it was not the food that was bad but the substandard service or lack there of. First of all our server was more interested in the basketball game then waiting on us since he never even looked at us while taking our drink order. He stared at the tv the entire time , took our beer order and came back with water. After a long wait we finally got our drinks. After another long wait he finally came back and asked if we wanted to order food while Still watching the tv. When he realized it was not a simple order and he would have to write it down , he sighed and rolled his eyes and took our order. Food came out eventually and it was good. Problem was we could not get the attention of our server after that. We wanted more drinks so my friend ended up leaving the table and going up to the bar and ordering his own beer. I understand our server was young and wanted to see his team win but he was there to WORK, and he clearly was barely doing that. He did however pay quite a lot of attention to three young females sitting at a table next to us. Will not be going back! Food is way to expensive with really terrible inadequate untrained servers. read more

Came here for the first time today and it was a horrible experience the minute we walked through the door. My husband and I waited a good 7 minutes confused as heck because there was no hostess at the entrance. She was busy talking to another staff member and we couldn't get her attention. We were talking about leaving. When she finally saw us we had to wait again for her to clean a table because she had been too busy talking to staff. Fast forward to the food. It was very bland. Our waiter never once came to check on our table and we needed refills. Let's not forget that we weren't given utensils for our food and had to wait again and ask someone who wasn't our waiter because our waiter never once came to our table . Just overall a horrible experience and it wasn't even a busy night. My plate was also dirty and had a hard yellow crumb stain. My husbands bread tasted old and nasty.
