So they responded with a sad and expected answer. Splitting a patty into two smaller pieces does not equal in any absolute way a better tasting patty. It dries out, and tastes burnt. I'm not a fan of (all) Hickory Tavern locations but this one is definitely setting the bar high. The lemon pepper wings are the best I've had in this area but I always ask for them "crispy". The service (even on football Sunday) has been great. We typically sit in the bar area. This is my "go to" spot for a nice margarita and wings! Oh, and the fries are delicious too! Shout out to "Gianna" behind the bar. She's not only making good drinks, she's handling take out orders with an eye for details that show she's concerned about the customer. I'd say our server Nolan really made our experience a blast. The atmosphere was right at peak dinner time and he did so excellent. He was so on top of stuff that I even heard him letting a table know the kitchen was stacked but their food would be out soon! Best news ever communicating with his tables to keep them happy during rush! Food was good and the cod tacos were fresh. A good plus if you're from kitchen life. I've seen this location turn over staff time n time again just because of the area and restaurant life is always moving. The staff from Wednesday evening had it rolling smoothly. WOW, busy for a Tuesday night and perhaps a little slow but the service was good, and prompt, only the food took a long time. I ordered a very difficult dish to do right - shrimp and grits This recipe can easily be ruined as too spicy or too bland. Mine was just right There were things I would have preferred - for example, I like cheddar cheese in the grits. I didn't see any cheese at all, although the taste was excellent. And I prefer polenta (yellow corn) to white grits as well. White grits tend to be smaller and less flavorful. This dish can take aggressive tastes. Bland tastes get lost. The andouille sausage was cut in small pieces fortunately, because when they are too large it dominates the dish. The shrimp were whole and not over cooked, which is a common problem in all restaurants. My fellow diner has an allergy to gluten and choose a huge salad . . . A Choose Your Own item on the menu. It was huge and he was very happy with his choices. He did not try out the gluten-free menu. I noticed many single men and women in their thirties, like a "Cheers" without the high noise level. The parking lots were jammed. I'd been to this restaurant last year and did not like it; but now I will return happily. read more

A nice place to grab some food after a movie. It's nothing amazing but it doesn't need to be. They give good portions, the food itself is good, and the cocktails are decent. I went to this location Tuesday 24th September, I was seated far away in the corner and no waiter came over to serve I waited 15 minutes then the chef came over to the table to Take my order. when the waitress finally came to bring the drinks she tells me she doesn't know who my waiter is but she'll take the order. Fast service & friendly staff! In a great location and never too loud or too busy even during rush hours.

Barf on floor in men's bathroom. Waitress left menus on the table. Did not refill water. Waitress never came by to check on us. Charged me for a salad that was included with entree. Several alcoholic beverages were not available on a Saturday at 6:00 pm. We will never return to this extremely bad managed restaurant in our neighborhood. read more

My husband & I visited Hickory Tavern on Monday afternoon. We met our two Gay friends at the bar. During the 1.5 hrs that we were there, we ordered a few appetizers, 2 rounds of shots and one beer a piece. After my two gay friends go outside on the patio, we were approached by the manager.  She proceeded to tell us that our two "tall" friends were being over served & we needed to cut them off now! I said "We've had two shots and a beer a piece. What are we doing wrong?" We are at the bar in the corner, away from others. Still in shock, I asked her, "Did someone complain about us?" She said "I can't tell you exactly what was said; but they are bothering other people and I have to cut them off and ask you to leave now". I asked her if she was kicking us out because my friends are flamboyantly gay and that is what is making other customers uncomfortable.  She didn't correct me or defend their establishment, she just said we needed get off of their property now. I will never go back to this establishment.  I am shocked, applauded & devasted that in 2021, restaurants can still get away with discriminating against customers AND asking them to leave because they are different than others. This is totally unacceptable & they should be held accountable for this discrimination.  Let's ban together and show our outrage by not eating here. Thank you. read more

This is the only Hickory Tavern that I have been to that deserves a review. Even after Covid and short staff, my family (including children) are very impressed. Initial post was because I was upset with the subpar customer service due to dietary needs. However the host was amazing and tried to accommodate me. Update: I emailed the detailed incident to Nicole. She responded immediately and addressed my concerns. I am glad that my experience was not a reflection of Hickory Tavern. Thank you Nicole for hearing my concerns (adverse results of not meeting dietary needs-getting sick) and your willingness to address them with your team. The updated review is based on the lunch host (I forgot his name...he said he was a new employee) and Nicole's customer service skills. THANK YOU! Our waiter, Jay was awesome ! Perfect timing, attentive and extremely nice. Beer was cold and the food was very good. I came on a Monday evening and it wasn't too crowded. There was plenty of parking for free out front. Its a part of a shared parking lot where there are various restaurants, a movie theater, and different shops. As soon as we enter we were graded and seated even offered a selection of where we would like to be seated as we dined me later found out it was trivia night we went able to stay the full time, but did enjoy the questions and games. They offered different specials on food and drinks depending upon the night we have the burgers which were tasty and delicious may just the way that we requested. We had the Moscow mule which was five dollars on Monday and came pretty strong it wasn't premade which is a nice plus. Service was great. Overall the place is clean and there are no concerns. I'll probably be back. It's worth checking out. read more

I haven't been to this Hickory Tavern in about 2-3 yrs. I stopped going b/c of the quality and poor service. I'm afraid nothing has changed. I placed order online and gave me a pick up time of 9:12. At 9:35 I was still waiting. The PoBoy sandwich was cold, the bread was soggy as well. I also ordered the cookies. They were burnt! We just left Hickory Tavern at Sun Valley. They were not busy at all. We seated. Waited 15 minutes with waitresses twice walking past us and watching another family comein and seated and waited on them. Found the manager in a room off the main dinning area with a waitress folding napkins. Told he we had come back today to give them another chance due to poor service at this location before. All we got was oh! He half way stood up. Walking out the reception area girl said have a nice day and I told her we never got waited on. She to said..Oh!!! Neither of them apologized, neither tried to fix the situation. We quit going to the Hickory Tavern in Indian Trail due to bad service and attitude and have been going weekly to the one in Wesley Chapel for over two years now. Indian Trail supposedly had the Irish meal for St Patrick's Day at the one in Wesley Chapel didn't. That is why we went to Sun Valley. We are now at Wesley Chapel, in 5 minutes seated and taken care of when there is a great attitude and smiles. Will never go to Sun Valley location again. read more

Where do I begin... Walked in and was greeted after 5 minutes. Water and sweet tea. Shortly after we ordered spinach dip and chips, took 18 minutes. The spinach was cold; chips were stale. Finally after what felt like 20 minutes the server finally came up and took our order. My friend ordered the tacos and I ordered chicken crispers with tator tots. Seriously - 15 minutes after the appetizer was given our food shows up. It looked like it had been sitting in the window for 10 minutes. Tator tots were cold and the chicken tenders were overcooked and burnt. Tacos my friend received were cold, the plate wasn't even wiped off. Finally had enough so spoke to server and she got a manager. The manager understood, comped the meal, and gave us a $30 gift card, that is the only reason this place gets a 2. Rather simple to eyeball 3 and notice the 4th was missing if someone even bothered to look in the bag and match the count against the receipt. Restaurant didn't check it nor the delivery driver. Our movie starts soon so will make this quick: Excellent service, from everyone from greeter to server to manager on duty. We arrived indicating we would be catching a movie next door and just wanted some quick fun appetizers. Knocked a star off for outdated booths, which also didn't feel secure and sturdy. I mean, I didn't feel like they would fall apart under us, but the wood and upholstery were definitely worn. Hope they replace them. I prefer booths whenever present. Broccoli was deeeelicious. Barbecue chicken nachos were radiantly presented, and all ingredients were fresh, but nachos + barbecue sauce + other ingredients = Fail. The flavor combination was just wrong. Knocked another off. Friday night with my girls was fun and amazing. Cody was our bartender for the night, and may I say she was amazing, fun and on point with everything. She made it so fun, and she interacted with everyone. Her manager (forgot his name) was absolutely handsome and had a very nice personality. The drinks were the best and delicious. We've been here twice. The first time several years ago, we finally left because no one came to take our order. This time, our waitperson did her best, but obviously had little or no training. The place is dirty and the rest rooms are atrocious. So, thinking about the staff using those restrooms would be enough to turn one off of eating there. Our choice was something that had to be throughly heated/cooked and came hot. Our beverages were in a bottle.
