Our dishwasher was delivered installed today. We were so impressed with the delivery person, Hunter. Timely, courteous, friendly and overall a real nice personality. Ordered a microwave and was told in 3weeks it would be there for pickup. three weeks later never received a call from anyone at the store so I called and it turns out they won't have one in store for six months.. no one bothered to call me and inform me of this !!! These guys are the worst. I purchased a cooktop on Oct 19, to be delivered in 3-4 weeks. I still don't have it. It finally arrived early February, they scheduled an install, then canceled the install because they over scheduled that day. They couldn't possibly prioritize the customer who had waited FOUR MONTHS when resolving their scheduling error, so they cancelled my installation and can't install it for another two weeks. We purchased a new refrigerator on 12/24/25. By the end of January we had a major water leakage problem coming from the internal parts of the refrigerator. We have had three Service appointments. Only two were upheld by this company, one was cancelled by them on the day of the appointment. These service appointments have taken HOURS of our life waiting on the phone to schedule and waiting for the service technician, not to mention the need to empty the fridge each time. All of this with NO CORRECTION of the problem. This company could care less that you have a problem with a BRAND NEW product that they sold. Their communication is pathetic. We should have been given a new refrigerator. Do yourself a favor and AVOID dealing with this company. They now will not even discuss fixing the problem. Their words, "it's in your house, you call the manufacturer and get it fixed." I gave one star because that's the lowest you can give, but would have loved the Option of a negative 5. read more

I purchased a refrigerator from East Coast due to a lightning strike hitting my house and knocking out the fridge on Wednesday. The refrigerator was excessively priced but I didn't want my food to spoil. The delivery team arrived on Friday with the new refrigerator and proceeded to damage the woodwork on two doorways. They promised to pay for it the following week. When they didn't take care of it, I reported the incident to the store. The manager refused to accept responsibility for the actions of Willie & Montray their unprofessional, destructive, lying delivery men. Very poor service. read more

I ordered a Refrigerator and was promised next day delivery. it did not happen. i called and they said they couldnt get it there until the following day and would refund my delivery fee. that never happened. when it was delivered i had to pay for a new waterline for the icemaker however i found out after they left it was never replaced. they never leveled it so i have to figure that out. they also banged the doorway up. Recently, we needed a new wall oven, and--despite very negative online reviews--we gave East Coast Appliance on West Broad Street a chance. We purchased a dual wall oven from MD, and everything went great. We were so happy with the purchase that we went back to buy a washer and dryer. RC was very helpful in selecting scratch-and-dent appliances and was very thorough in marking the damage. We were advised that if the appliances were not in the same condition when delivered; we were not required to accept them. When asked about a site survey to confirm that the delivery/installation would be a smooth process, we were also advised this was not standard practice for washer/dryer purchases. As agreed, I got a text at 7:48 am on delivery day, stating my delivery window was 1-4, which helped us adjust our plans. The drama started when the delivery finally showed up at 6:30 p.m. * The first issue. The location for the removal and replacement was on the second floor. There was some surprise that removal was part of the process. When we purchased the new set, we discussed paying another fee to remove the old washer and dryer, so the delivery person's pushback was a shock. * The first and only attempt to take the washer upstairs came with an announcement that it would require lifting the machine overhead and they could not do so. Lifting overhead? This would be our third replacement, and THAT HAS NEVER BEEN AN ISSUE FOR PROFESSIONALS. * The frustration peaked when it became clear there was no intention of providing any customer service. The back and forth included telling my wife and I that we bought the wrong brand, when we needed a "flat back", that they wouldn't take either the washer or dryer back to the storeroom, that they had no intention of removing the old washer and dryer either. We were LAST on the delivery list, and they wanted to go home. It's as simple as that. After a heated discussion, the manager agreed to generously refund PARTIAL delivery fees. I will believe it when I see it. * Now we have an old washer and dryer on the second floor that need to be junked and a new set in the middle of our hallway that needs to be properly attached. * The bargain wasn't a bargain, and if we had known the truth, we would've either purchased elsewhere or saved ourselves aggravation and made other plans for the delivery and installation. Should anyone plan on getting top brands at East Coast Appliances, be advised, those low costs are an illusion. You will end up paying later for delivery fees and junk costs, which will make your dream purchase much higher than expected. read more

Purchase range Feb 14 delivered Feb 28. Once connected by delivery personnel discovered oven does not work. They called east coast Midlothian location to see if I could keep range until replacement can be delivered but was told no due to liability issue. They had to bring my range back in and take defective one back. Received call from salesman who I dealt with when I purchase range was no help in solving issue of delivery of replacement as I requested a specific timeframe. I ask about a no cost warranty as warranty is $100 or discount some portion of price for inconvenience I experience due to defective range. stated cannot do that would lose his job. I cannot leave work as east coast has no set delivery time you have to wait until they call with timeframe. Called the store, after 3 phone calls I was told to contact speed queen. Speed queen sent a technician out and they said the people installed it incorrectly and not only did it burn the dryer up but also the cord and my wall receptacle. I contacted east coast appliance while the technician was there and let him explain to Alyssa (supposed manager) and she was very rude and acted like she couldn't help us. After several trips to the store and several phone calls, we were told it was a corporate problem and they would call us. It's been over a week and we still haven't heard anything! Total nightmare of a delivery that required over 8 hours of waiting at my new house. Delivery window was 12:30 to 3:30. Took time off work to meet the delivery guys, waited from 1:30 to 7 o'clock before I got a call rescheduling. I tracked down the driver and he agreed to meet me first thing the next morning at 8:30. I was the next stop before they got called back that night, and somehow started off as stop #5 the next day. After many phone calls placed to the company across both days, I somehow managed to wiggle my way to the 3rd stop. Waited around an empty house again from 8:30 till 11 and finally got my washer/dryer delivered and installed and was done by 12:30. The delivery guys did great once they were there. Tried to register my washing machine and the serial number comes up as being already registered. Can't get ahold of the manager, no one can help, no one can do anything. Nothing has been refunded or remedied at this point. read more

Don''t waste your time on East Coast Appliances in Midlothian, VA. Customer service is great when your making your purchase but afterwards its a true headache. It took 4 different times and us staying home and waiting for delivery each time. Would give us a time frame that would work for us but they never met any of them. Delivery men came for the install but left all the papers pertaining to converting the range from natural gas to propane on of the back of the range. We were told by the delivery men they do not do the conversion to see East Coast. Before we purchased the range we informered the manager that we had propane. So she was well aware of the conversion. We then contacted East Coast to have the range converted and they told us that GE would do the conversion. We then received a call from GE informing us they don't do conversions. We gave up on East Coast and had our gas company to change it over ($348.34). read more

we purchased a Speed Queen washer and dryer set from East Coast Appliance mid November 2023. The first load of clothes was ruined with a rust like lubricant in the washer and a bolt in the drum of the washer tore the queen size comforter and mattress cover. We then put the comforter in the dryer and the dryer burned it. I called East Coast and they said call Speed Queen the manufacturer cause it's not their problem. The manager who sold us the Speed Queen set failed to mention the rust like lubricant and he stated Queen comforters and mattress covers will not be a problem. I tried 5 times in person and over the phone to try to get it resolved. We spent $2750 for a washer and dryer and we still have to go to the laundromat. read more

Appliances and in-store experience are fine but delivery of large appliances is a problem - they subcontract that out and the delivery drivers are just there to get in and out as quickly as possible. They seem to be looking for reasons that they can leave without completing the delivery. I didn't think to turn the water off and take my screen door hinge off before they arrived and they threatened to leave instead of waiting while raced around to do those things. They needed to measure the space but didn't bring a tape measure so I had to run back to my basement to get one. Then they damaged my doorframe because it would be "extra work" to take the doors off the refrigerator so that it would more easily fit through the door. read more

Mike Lyons worked with me and I was pleased with his knowledge and patience in me figuring out what would be best with me. Great customer service! I received a number of phone calls prior to the delivery date to make sure the warehouse had the correct appliance and address, I appreciate them being so thorough. There was a slight mix up once the delivery got to my house but it was quickly taken care of. That is the only reason I gave it 4 stars. The gentlemen that delivered it were polite and took great care (even taking the door off the hinges) to not damage my refrigerator. I am quite pleased with the whole process. read more

Our refrigerator would not fit in the door even though we gave the correct measurements to the sales person. We ordered another refrigerator that did fit, however the bottom drawer shimmy's when you open the freezer. We called East Coast immediately and the sales person said he had my number at his desk and would call me back after he talked to the warehouse. That was two days ago. The delivery guys were nice but made a chip in the wood and scratched off paint around the frame for the refrigerator. The management is unresponsive. Now I purchased a stove top and went eight months with its on back order until then eight months later they said it was discontinued. So second chance in February purchased a kitchenaid refrigerator. I have purchased a GE washer $829 They took a week to deliver it. When I used it it sprayed water all over the laundry I immediately called the store. My sales man, Jon James , couldn't come to the phone. I left a message for him to call me next day. He did not. This is the first negative review I've ever written on yelp. I've only posted reviews for places I absolutely love in the past, but my experience with East Coast Appliances (Midlothian) has been so bad, comically bad, I can't not leave a review.... I should have known by the other negative reviews, but I was trying to support local and not go through a big chain like Lowes/Home Depot. Massive mistake. I ordered a new refrigerator, gas range and microwave from ECA about 5 weeks ago. Everything was supposed to be delivered and installed in one day, and they were supposed to take the old appliances out on that same day. Since then, different guys from ECA have come to my house 6 times so far and they still aren't done. Yesterday, I made a bet with my general contractor that they wouldn't be able to complete the task for that day (dropping off the 2nd stove, because the 1st one was defective). I won! They couldn't drop it off because they didn't coordinate for a gas appliance specialist to remove the other stove first. Thank god I work from a 2nd home and have a flexible schedule. I would have been without working appliances for a long time if I lived at this house. It has still been incredibly annoying to drive back and forth so many times because I have to physically be at the house when they are here. Such a waste of gas for all parties involved. There have been times when I'm not even given a proper heads up. I get a text that says "We will be there in 15 minutes", so I have to drop what I'm doing and rush over to the house. I've also been told, "We will be done by 1:15" and they haven't even arrived until 1:40. This lady has things to do! I'm giving them 1 star because (most) of the individual humans who work here are actually very pleasant and sweet. It seems they do not communicate with each other at all though. Last, but certainly not least, I had a very uncomfortable experience with one of the appliance installers. I asked him if he would be taking the old microwave when he left. Something I paid for and had confirmed with someone else, but I've found myself triple checking every single thing with this company. He responded, "If you ask me nicely, I'll think about it." REALLY?! In 2021?!? Really. This happened. Would he have responded that way to a male? Doubt it. This totally rubbed me the wrong way. It felt gross. I didn't even know how to respond. In conclusion, I will never be going through East Coast Appliances again. I have learned my lesson and have been warning my networks. I really hope they're able to take this feedback, and the feedback provided by many before me, and better their company. What a disaster. read more

I tried calling the Richmond location using the number provided by Google. I was instead connected to the Norfolk store which I didn't know. The salesman was helpful until we started talking about delivery and he realized I was in Richmond. Twice he tried to connect me to the Richmond location and twice I was connected to Norfolk. He said the phone system was wonky . Calling the Richmond number directly, still gave me the nice man in Norfolk. I'm not so sure about buying a major appliance from an outfit whose phones don't work and I'd have no way to contact for delivery, service, etc. The prices might be the lowest, but so may be the service. I don't know how to hook up, install or repair any appliances so I need a company I can contact. If you're handy and can do these things on your own, I guess the savings might be worth taking the risk. For me, I wouldn't take the chance I need somewhere I can get in touch with if I have a problem. I mean, I was calling to make a purchase, spend a lot of money and couldn't get the right store on the phone. Imagine if you had a problem how hard it might be?? Terrible service, caught the management in multiple lies, deeply regret giving them my business. I think what sums up my service here best is that while I was on hold for an hour, I had a suspicion that they were just blowing me off. I drove there while on hold to find the entire staff, including the manager I was waiting to talk to, just sitting around and hanging out, ignoring me while I was on hold with no intention of answering my call. The company advised us that they would be delivering my refrigerator that day, and to have our old fridge removed. We did so, but the new fridge never came. I sat right by our front door (with my dog that barks at everyone on our porch) and they never came. For the 3 other deliveries I got from them, they called to let us know they were on the way, called to let us know they were here and knocked on the door. With this delivery we didn't get a single call or a knock- because they just didn't show up. We were very desperate to get our new fridge, because I had a cooler full of breast milk that needed to stay very frozen in order to safely donate it. So, when I got to their building, they couldn't do anything for me. The manager on staff called his superior who refused to speak with me. I've never heard of a manager refusing to speak with a customer who is having a bad experience. I could hear him on the other end of the phone saying "nah, I'm not talking to her." I'm not going to name the manager on the floor, because he was a very young man, and clearly was just acting in accordance with his superior's horrible behavior. I had to go home and desperately ask neighbors and friends to make room in their freezers for my breast milk because they wouldn't be able to deliver the fridge for another 2-3 days. It was both scary to think I could lose that large donation I worked very hard on and completely embarrassing to ask of my neighbors. Further, the company got our business through promises they could never fulfill on delivery times. They also wouldn't deliver our dishwasher because I guess it wasn't valuable enough to deliver on its own, so it just sat in the warehouse for forever where it was eventually damaged and we had to wait forever for another one. You deserve better than this place, don't fall for their lies like I did. read more

Completely useless company. They were tasked with removing an old fridge and installing a new one. They had to leave the first delivery attempt because some plumbing needed to be addressed. Fine. All they needed to do to finish the job was move the new fridge and remove the old one. They pushed that a week out, despite the remaining work to take no longer than 15 minutes. So, rather than wait a week with two fridges in my house, my father and I moved the new fridge in place, disassembled the old one ourselves and put it in the backyard for them to haul away. When the delivery guys finally came (after giving no window and just showed up), they refused to remove the old fridge because "there could be bugs in it" and they weren't allowed. They left without saying anything, not offering to follow up, just rudely waved me off. This is the same company that when a replacement dishwasher was ordered, I was given a 3 week out install date because "they only do installs on Tuesdays." I could go on. Practically everyone I have spoken to is incompetent. Lowes and Home Depot provide better install and delivery service. I had hoped for better service with a local, smaller business. What a rare gem for the North Chesterfield/ Midlothian area. So close to the big box stores is this new fabulous one stop shop. The sales people are quick, friendly and attentive. Delivery is quick. The items are high end with easy price tags. My favorite part is they have items in stock. When you need a stove- you need it now. The big box stores just do not have the stock. I loved the look and quality so much, I went back for the matching pieces. Will make this my first stop for all appliances from now on. read more

We purchased a "Scratch & Dent" refrigerator from the Fredericksburg Store. Easy sale, and we found one that had very light damage on the outside of the freezer door. Little did we know that there was also damage on the inside - much worse than we realized. We contacted the store, and were promised a credit for the unseen damages. (We also discovered that the history of the fridge was not just a simple scratch & dent item as we were led to believe.) This was back in April 2022. It is now December 2022. After contacting the Salesman, John Young, being promised that the Manager, James Lopez, would have a check sent out.... NOTHING. No contact, no promised check. While the salesman was nice, there was no follow through. I cannot recommend this company, ever. read more

He made sure we found a dryer that met our needs, especially because it would be fitting in tight quarters in our upstairs laundry alcove. They had the right model, a Frigidaire, in stock, too! The excellent delivery team installed the new unit on a Sunday and carefully removed the old dryer. This was a perfect buying experience. We had an excellent experience. in the showroom, they were incredibly helpful at guiding us toward the Bosch appliances we wanted, including refrigerato, microwave, and gas range. When we showed the, some items were on discount at other stores, they matched the prices. we took delivery in 3 weeks on all appliances. The installers were not only very competent but respectful and conscientious. The salesman at the store even called us tonight after installation today to be sure we were satisfied with the products and installation. we would highly recommend this store and would use the, again for other appliances. read more

I had a very positive experience. The signs say how many of the items they have in stock so you have a good idea if you can get immediate delivery or will have to wait for it to come in first. They scratch and dent section can be a bit hit or miss. A sizable dent gives a good discount but stuff with minor scratches is priced the same as the new products. We bought a new refrigerator. I went to ECA today and was very disappointed. I walked in to the store and there were 4 employees working. I was the only customer in the store. Not one employee made any attempt to greet me or offer any advice or assistance with to me. The entire time I was in the store all I could hear was the employees talking to each other very loudly. There were two other people in the store before I left and no one offered them any assistance. I will not be back. Always remember that a warm welcome and a fond farewell goes a long way. read more

On the final day I was accepting the horrendous treatment they weren't only late to the appointment they DENIED appropriate compensation for the absolute disrespect from employees, tardiness and downright FAILURE to perform PROFESSIONAL duties as purchased. Based solely on delivery service. We confirmed our 3 hour window the evening prior, and morning of. Waited the entire window as we were instructed that someone would call us 40 min before arriving. Ten minutes for the the end of the window, I follow up and was told "the truck broke down", and the delivery would not arrive that day. There was no courtesy call, no text. When following up with store associates you get shuffled around, they put you on hold, and never return. Very poor customer service with associated to conflict resolution. Finally were given a new window for the following day. Fast forward next day arrives. driver arrives BEFORE the window, never calls to confirm he's on his way, and leaves a tag related to his attempt to deliver. Now, trying to reach some sort of solution, we're back to square one. This system lacks communication, is poorly organized and is in no way accommodating to their customers.
