Definitely a low cost budget rental but I had no problems. The location is a bit weird but once you get in the staff were great. I showed up 4 hours late due to strikes and they had given away my car, but they got me into a better one and even waived some fees. Staff are friendly and lovely. No issues. Can't speak to the issues other people have had. Issues or nickel and diming people aren't a scam. Don't expect high end service at budget prices. read more

NEVER AGAIN... this company practices an outrageous policy that I call racketeering. Cautious by nature and not inclined to let myself be taken for a ride, I had to admit that I had been cheated and conned. I hadn't read the previous comments about the outrageous methods used by this company to extort money from you, but I was wrong. I can confirm what other victims have said. When you book, nowhere is it noted that you will be asked for a guarantee of £1500 if you do not agree to take out insurance at £25/day. You are simply told to bring a debit card for the deposit with a sufficient reserve. It's only at the counter, after you've collected the cost of the rental, that they tell you about additional insurance that you can take out (even though, when you booked the vehicle, you already had to choose whether you wanted cover over and above the third-party insurance already provided. When I confirmed that I didn't want to take out additional insurance, I was asked to put down a deposit of £1,500 by credit card. Bad luck for me, I was £15 short (my card has a maximum limit) of the £1500 required, so I offered to pay the balance in cash (they don't take cash). I offered to use a second credit card to cover the balance, but they refused, pointing out that it had to be deposited on the same card in the hirer's name (my second card was also in my name but had a €1250 limit). I clearly expressed my dissatisfaction, but the very unpleasant attendant told me that I could leave on foot and give up the car if I didn't like it. But if I cancelled on the day of the rental, I would not be reimbursed. As a result, I had to pay for the insurance hand and foot. In the end, we drove 183 miles more than the 100 miles per day we had planned. We had to make up almost £60 (£0.3 per mile) on the day of our return. In addition, we received a car that had not been washed, had 12,000 miles on the clock and was already full of dents everywhere (I filmed the vehicle from every angle when I received it to avoid being blamed for any damage, as I have read in other comments from ripped-off customers). So I thought I was renting a vehicle (the smallest in the range) at a democratic price for £130 for 7 days, but in the end it cost me £330. So go for another, better-known company with a trusted reputation. I would add that this company changes of name and is now called Drivalia... but the company's reputation will probably have led them to change their name to cleanse themselves of all these comments from abused customers. After a 15 minute bus ride from the Edinburgh airport you walk up to a dirt gravel road where you will see a hopeless looking manufactured structure that seems like it could be blown away with a solid highland breeze. From the looks of your surroundings, you may rent a car or you may be robbed. Maybe both. 2 stars bc the car worked X-D but this is the dumpiest place I've ever rented a car from and I'm a cheap azz. There are better car rental places on the cheap (found out later) than this place like Low Cost rental. (1) Here was my biggest issue (wish I had read the other reviews before using these guys!!!): you pnly have 2 options - either they will place a 1500Gbp on your card OR you can pay 60Gbp to waive insurance! That's ridiculous. Use someone else. (2) this place is listed as an airport car rental BUT it is MILES from the airport. You havr to wait 20 minutes to get a shuttle to drive you the 15 minutes to the car rental dump. You better not be in a rush bc this process will take f-o-r-e-v-e-r. (3) I don't mind the looks of a cheap rental car shop. Really I don't. It's not like im living there but this place is so shady it gives you that feeling that you are being cheated. AVOID THIS COMPANY. My friends and I used Easirent in Edinburgh airport and hit a flat tire hours away from our Airbnb. After calling Easirent about 10 times, they offered no help aside from googling numbers for us to call (every place was closed or didn't have our specific tire). At 9pm that night - 5 hours into being stuck - they told us we we're on our own for the night. We had to stay at a random person's home as no roadside assistance company was able to help (called about 20). We weren't able to get back on the road until 1pm the following day after calling AA about 6 times (this number was found via Google ourselves, not provided by Easirent). Easirent has NOT RESPONDED to any of our emails, Instagram messages asking for an explanation for why they would leave us stranded. They do not care about their clients. Drivalia (new name fir EasiRent) - Worst Car Rental Experience - wish I could give 0 stars. Paid for whole booking and insurance on Expedia - Drivalia (new name for EasiRent) would not accept the insurance. Rep insisted I had to pay £250 to have deductible reduced to £1500, and I had to put £1500 hold on my credit card. He said I could provide a note from MY BANK on headed notepaper showing I had insurance for rental to avoid this...I don't have insurance through my bank, or have the credit card through my bank AFTER posting these fees I got an email with the rental details showing I COULD have declined and COULD have claimed my own insurance....the rep LIED saying I couldn't. I feel they LIED and fraudulently made me pay again for insurance I already had. Someone needs to take this place to court. Car was dirty on outside and has not been properly cleaned on the inside...butt's of food and Pringles lying around. Customer service do not answer their phone. I've emailed let's e if I get a reply. I want to start this off by saying that Alexandra was extremely helpful and offered great service. My issues with this company are primarily policy-related, it seems. A) Apparently by booking this company through your airline or similar booking service, you waive the right to be covered for rental insurance through your credit card. As a result, they put a 1500GBP deposit hold on your car OR charge you out the ass for insurance, there's no middle ground. 2) This is NOT a cheap option! The amount I paid online (~70GBP) for the booking was apparently not the actual price. They charged me an additional 90GBP ON TOP of what I had already paid. I could have gotten a car from a more reputable rental agency and am angry but not surprised that this is the option Aer Lingus apparently books through for their customers. 3) They charged me for an additional driver despite us only having one driver, with no leeway around that policy due to my name having been associated with our Aer Lingus account. 4) The car we rented was completely out of alignment and pulled aggressively to the left, making it scary and difficult to drive in a country where driving is already scary (assuming you're from one of the many countries around the world where you drive on the right). 5) It took half an hour each time to get picked up from the airport or parking lot, in the wet and cold, despite promising a maximum twenty minute wait. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. NOT a cheap option, full of hidden payment options when you get there. Insurance if you are using 3rd party £1500 hold. If you want to use their insurance which you have to if you don't want to put a £1500 down, it is £126 for full coverage. Car was recycled right in front of us. They washed it and vacuumed the car that is it, and gave us the keys. Also took an hour and a half to get the car. Witnessed one man argue till he was blue in the face, then ended up not renting with the company. Ended up leaving the money he had reserved for the car for them, due to the fact he couldn't get it back. Says it a mile away from the airport... maybe as the crow flies. It's really 4 miles and it's a 15 min shuttle if the shuttle happens to be there when you get there. Rental time was 1000 didn't get the car till about 1230. DON'T DO IT! read more

Two stars because at least the staff were polite. However, the place is miles from the airport, the bus wait is too long, the car hire process is too long and if there's people ahead of you be prepared to wait a long time. The car was still dirty inside and had belongs of the previous hirer. I took the full insurance policy out with the online company I hired the car from, then had to authorise another £1250 again here as they don't accept that. This car rental branch will pursue even the tiniest scratch that would be considered normal wear and tear at most locations. Though their initial price may be cheap, do not be fooled as they will get their money on the back end. I was charged 365 pounds for one scratch less than an inch in length underneath the bottom frame of the door and a scuff on the boot from pulling suitcases in and out. I also witnessed two other customers being given the same shakedown treatment for damage. My worst car rental experience in 35 years. I feel sorry for anyone who has an actual damage incident. Avoid at all cost. I was involved in a minor traffic accident. I did not opt for their insurance because I used insurance from obits. They took my 1500 pound ($1900) deposit. They never sent me a repair invoice. They have not refunded the difference. I cannot get reimbursed without one. I assume they have not fixed the vehicle since it had damage from prior renter. It has been over 3 months credit card is accumulated interest..........placed over 30 phone calls to their office with no answer and I have to stay up till 2am to attempt these phone calls. read more

I would give zero stars if I could. Absolute dump of a car rental place. And they will not rent you a car without seeing paper proof of your rental car coverage policy on your credit card. They claimed it was mandatory in the UK now. If you don't have that, you have to pay minimum £75 to get a car ON TOP of your rental rate. Lies. If you're trying to go for the cheapest option, be aware of the concessions. The first problem arose when trying to get to the centre. It says 'Airport', but it is NOT in the car rental section of the airport; it requires a shuttle or a 45 min walk at least. When we arrived, we thought we were at the wrong place as everything looked shoddy, dirty and made us feel uncomfortable. If this wasn't bad enough, the guy at the counter informed us there was a deposit of £1.250,00 unless we took one of their extra insurances. When we booked the car, we already took an insurance, and yet they were still adamant to have us get another one. At the end of our trip, we called customer service to ask if we could drop off the car one day early. The representative was very unprofessional, blunt and told us we wouldn't get anything back. However when calling the office itself, it wasn't any problem. When returning our car, however, there wasn't any issue. CAUTION THESE PEOPLE ARE SCAM ARTISTS!!!!!! This place has a phone # that didn't work a bus ride that takes a bit of time and a waiting area that looks like a frat dorm. They made me wait for nearly an hour and when I finally got to the counter they told me I missed my 2 hr window of time to rent my small car. All they had left was a SUV that cost 3 times as much. I had arrived and started calling within my 2 hr time frame. there was no reason i should have lost out on my car. I had booked the the reservation threw Orbitz and in non of there emails was there a 2 hour time frame mentioned. The rental guy suggested I contact the airline so I could get reimbursed for the additional charge. Maybe I should contact the phone company so I can get reimbursed since the phones don't work so they couldn't get my check in or perhaps the bus river that got stuck in traffic, or maybe the guy that told me to wait for a hour to put me over my time. This is a pretty crummy company. From car pick up, to car trouble, to car drop off we were treated poorly. The employees walk around in sweatpants and the whole place feels pretty sketchy. We felt pressured into decisions. We ran into car trouble along the way and were told it wasn't convenient for them to assist us. Even dropping off the car and waiting for the shuttle, one of the scummy looking employees accused me of lying about how long we had been waiting. Absolutely stay away from renting with Easirent esspecially if you are travelling from Canada or USA and intend on using your credit card insurance. I booked my reservation with the intention of using my credit card insurance like I always do and even received an email from the company confirming that I was able to do this. When I arrived at the Edinburgh Airport location to collect the car I was told that I was unable to use my credit card insurance and I had to pay an extra 15 Dollars per day to bring down my liability and utilize their insurance. They told me that if I did not I would not be legal to drive the car! Even though a week before I was informed via email that in fact I would be covered and I even showed the email tot he staff on site. I spent over 1 hour arguing with staff until I gave up as they were not willing to help. Once I went out to get the car, it was not even ready and was still being cleaned. Absolutely horrible company and I will never rent with them again! Save yourself the hassle and go with a more reliable car rental company! We booked in the U.S. via FOX rent-a-car. But apparently they sub-contract out to this Easirent which is anything BUT EASY. AVOID these guys. They did not honor the amount set down by FOX reservation and charged us $40 more. it took over 1 hour to get our car rented. They had not even had the vehicle cleaned - we had to wait upon them cleaning many vehicles. Plus their rental counter is NOT at the airport but out in one of the long term parking areas. I will say it was much quicker to return the car. Hopefully no extra surprise charges will show up on the credit card. I will be watching. I wont be using FOX rental car ever again either because of this rental experience. read more

Awful experience. Clearly one of the car rental places you read about in the papers. They freeze £1200 of your money when you collect the car. £1200!! If you damage it, they keep the money until they decide what should be refunded to the client. We were terrified the whole time. Of course they offer some crazy extra insurance so that you're not a nervous wreck but it puts the price up hugely. The guy behind the desk assured me that all I needed to do was read the small print (!) and that he always read same whenever he purchased anything. This is the worst experience of picking up a car. When booking from US, on their website, I chose to add CDW insurance offered, although my credit card covers the same, just in case. On arriving at the counter, the rep told me that they will need a deposit of $1250 or I can pay any of the three different insurance they offer ranging from $99 to lot more. I thought that my booking covered all the insurance I need. This was a $40 rental, for which I booked insurance online. The online booking confirmation, made no mention that they will need additional 300% as deposit, unless I pay for their insurance offered at the counter. The lady at the counter said that she cannot do anything unless I agree to their terms (not mentioned while booking). I refused and walked away. This happened today morning. Never had a worst experience renting a car.After getting their coverage on their car I was charged an additional $70 that they said I needed because I did not have the maximum insurance. Never got credit for the insurance we payed for through Expedia. We got charged for a GPS that we were suppost to get for free. Then they have you sign a blank computer screen so you don't see all the added charges. They shorted us $400 on our deposit and customer service is non existing they would not help us out at all. I would definitely not recommend them. I would recommend doing business with a better known reputable company. read more

Do not use this company!!.. Take a look around at other reviews and sites and you will see that I am not the only one. Turned up to pick up the car to find that the car wasn't ready. By the time it was and ready for inspection it hadn't been cleaned, filthy dirty was a better description and it was now dark and snowing. Upon walk around inspection damage was noted to the car in several areas and marked onto the rental agreement. Upon return they found supposedly 'new damage', a nick on the tyre wall, within the area which had been marked as damaged. Their claim being that they wouldnt have lent the car out with that damage. There is no way way the inspection that was carried out checked for that sort of thing as he just marked the area down as damage to the wheel so didnt look any further. Charged my wife £300 for damage to the tyre. Upon challenging them was met with the most hostile of customer service managers who was clearly trained in trying to get away with charging for anything they could. Refused to let us replace the tyre ourself even though we still had time left on the rental as he had scanned the car back in. Then suddenly realised he hadn't scanned it in and left quickly to get to the computer refusing to give me back my copy of the agreement until he had written more notes on it and scanned it in. Easyrent Car rental at Edinborough "airport". This is without doubt the WORST car rental company imaginable. Nothing easy about easyrent. They are miles away from the airport, a bus dropped us there and we were stranded in the middle of no-where. Then we waited forever (over an hour) for attention. Then they didn't have the car we reserved and tried to palm off a much smaller one on us saying absurdly that it was the same. They charged us the same rate for the manual they provided when the automatic we reserved was "unavailable". They then insisted on a huge deposit because we didn't need their insurance They did not provide a contract form and did not do a walk around inspection. The car was filthy both inside and out. And when we tried to return the car early, after a day, because we couldn't all fit in (2 people joined us later) they would not end the contract early and insisted on charging us for the week. With each concern we expressed they kept referring to their "policy" which they did not make available to us. The service was just atrocious. We will never use them and advise no-one else to. Its a mickey-mouse operation and should be dropped off all online booking portals. A minus 5 rating NEVER AGAIN. read more
