Love my neighborhood pet Mecca. As a first time puppy owner and rescue pit bull owner with sensitive skin- they have been so helpful to help me through transitions, gear, grooming and great nutrition. The best. read more

This place is really dog friendly. We took our sons dog here and they gave her a treat. Also they have the buying history so when you purchase they know what the history is for treats and all purchases. The prick for costumes and bedding is a little Hugh fir me but the tune and Mindy you SCE coming here is valuable too read more

We had a 5:15 pm appointment for grooming. We arrived and waited until 5:30 pm for the appointment before being told they were running late and would be at least another 10 minutes. There was no apology or offer to reschedule and we had to ask for a refund and leave to get it done somewhere else in the future. I understand delays happen but the least Petapoluza could do was communicate this to customers. This is the second incident after we were charged the full price for half a treat that our dog ate that some previous person had left on the floor. I wanted so badly to like this place and support small businesses but don't think we will be back. Even a small business could've called or texted ahead of time to let us know they were running late. read more

I am so lucky I live a few blocks away. I've picked up my dog's food here for a while now. I've had great experience with the staff (helping me navigate what was the best food for my dog, offering me samples of different types of dog food, and even offering to walk the dog food to my car!) I love that they are engaged with the community with dog meeting opportunities. They also have a groomer, which I've yet to try out but I'm happy that this is a service they now offer. Don't forget the 10% discount when you check into the store! read more

Norm's Eatery was having a dog costume contest. I wasn't planning on participating, but decided to do so at the last minute. My dog didn't have a costume, so I rushed to the closest pet store, this one, to see if they had any costumes. The ladies there was very gracious and agreed to get the dog costumes from Halloween out of storage. In the box were some sad leftovers from Halloween -- tiny witch costume, gigantic banana costume, itty bitty banana costume. The only costume that sorta-fit was a hot dog costume that I bought and secured with a bit of velcro that one of the shop ladies gave me. She was an adorable hot dog, and went on to win some dog treats and a dog shirt that said "bone jovi" at the dog pageant. Would buy hot dog costume here again. read more

I brought my cat Raja in earlier in the week. I thought Julie did a great job and made Raja feel as comfortable as she could. However, there were a few things I was disappointed with. When I called to schedule the appointment I felt like the woman could not answer my questions with much confidence and then she ended up scheduling us for just a shampoo when the main reason I was coming in was to get Raja trimmed. I got to the store and just then learned that they don't do cat trimmings unless I wanted to get her a lion cut. Long story short, Raja's stomach was shaved (which was nice) but they only cut a little around the face. She needed way more trimming than that. I was bummed :( read more

Great supply of quality dog foods, treats and other supplies. They do have a nice cat section as well. The staff were super helpful and super nice. So glad I can get some of the specialty items I need from a local company. read more

I'm a few blocks away from their store so I've probably been in Petapoluza a dozen times over the last year and my dog knows when he's within a block of the store and makes a bee line trying to get in. Friendly staff, had good experiences using their grooming services for nail clipping, and they have a good selection of dog and cat food brands for a relatively small location. Good for: *bringing your dog in *wide selection of treats and dog food brands *knowledgeable staff and grooming center Not good for: *cheap treats (although their prices for dog food itself are very reasonable) *big selection of dog toys/beds read more

We have been using Petapoluza for a couple of years for grooming and food. They take amazing care of our lab Bailey, she absolutely loves going in. And they track the rewards program for the dog food. Thanks Petapoluza team!! read more

This has nothing to do with the store itself, just the grooming portion. Petapoluza used to be my go to place to get my pup groomed. I don't live super close so I commute just to get a good cut for my dog and great service....until recently. I always had appointments with DJ who was fantastic, very honest, and did a great job. DJ doesn't work there anymore and they have a new groomer, Leah. She did a good job on the cut, but failed to mention that she cut my dogs pad! I understand that my dog is sometimes squirmy and uneasy when getting groomed and that mistakes happen, but to not tell me? I'm not okay with that. Had she told me that she slipped and he had a little cut on his pad while she was trimming I would've understood and thanked her for her honesty because again mistakes happen and I know my pup squirms. It's very upsetting because my dog is like my child and I trusted someone to take good care of him. read more

Our dog has been fully groomed here three times and we have always got we wanted, and our dog is always happy to come here; plus he looks great afterward. The only issue is scheduling can be tricky as they have become very popular, but our last grooming they worked to get us an appointment that worked for us even though we needed a time within 2 weeks. We also buy our dog food here and like that they have a frequent buyer program. read more

We just got back from a great experience at Petapoluza with our extremely nervous 10-month-old labrador, Hazel. We had an appointment for a nail trimming and our dog didn't even want to walk through the door. Jullia was so helpful in getting our dog comfortable and was wonderfully patient. By the time Jullia brought Hazel back to us, we had a happy and curious puppy who was excited to explore the rest of the store. And the best part? No more puppy nails clicking on the floor! We'll be back! read more

This place is horrid. I gave them one star because there is no way to give them zero stars. Problem #1 - We special ordered some cat litter and was told it would arrive in less than a week. It took three weeks to come in. Problem #2 - They didn't call us when it came in. Problem #3 - They told us it was in when we called them but later called us back to say they couldn't find it (ie had sold it to someone else or never had it in the first place). Problem #4 - They called and told us that it would be in today. When we stopped by in the late afternoon it wasn't there yet. Problem #5 - They latter called and said it was in and would personally bring it to our house (we live just a few blocks away). They brought one 20 lb bag when we had ordered two 40 lb bags. Problem #6 - They charged us twice as much as every other store we have previously purchased this brand of cat litter. Bringing the cat litter by personally was appreciated but it cannot make up for completely boggling the order. We will never shop here again. read more

This is the worst pet shop I have ever seen. It's messy, dirty, and dark. The owner seemed to want to sell their food, and didn't know anything about brands they didn't carry. They used the "F" word many times. They discriminate against anyone who is not like them. They don't seem to know anything about business or service. They don't actually know about pet care. When I went in the pet shop the owner seemed mad and I felt uncomfortable and isolated. Once he talked to me about food he wouldn't stop talking even after I was READY to leave and didn't seem to have any point. He also used the "F" word referring to Mud Bay which seemed in bad nature. I now shop at All The Best Pet Care. They give the best customer service I have ever received in retail. I will never go into Petapoluza again, and I would recommend that no once else does. read more

This store is great! Expect to not see any Iams or Eukanuba, those brands aren't there. They do focus on foods and pet care that are made of higher quality ingredients. At first, I balked at the price of some of the no-grain food (this is what I am thinking of switching my dog to and will start my new puppy on) but then realized that I would need to feed my dog about half as much of this no grain food as the "grain food." The employees that are there will help you make the decision and can help tailor the food to your dog. Also, the self-service pet wash stands are pretty good. They have a range of shampoos and conditioners for the different skin and fur types in animals. You also have access to ear cleanser, nail clippers, brushes, and blow-dryers. I don't know if I would buy leashes or collars through the store. I didn't really look at the prices but I might try and find the same collars and other things online to see if I could get a good price. One more plus... There is a parking lot behind the store so you don't have to worry about finding street parking on busy days. :) read more

Love it! One of the more helpful stores I have been to, and they carry the brand of food my dog eats--which happens to be an all natural brand that the commercial pet stores don't carry. We went in and bought something for my dog which ended up not fitting and they returned it no questions asked. I also saw that they had DIY dog washing for only $15 which is really nice to know. For the brands and items they carry their prices can't be beat, plus they are really friendly :) read more

I love Petapoluza's grooming services. This was the first place I took my dog to get groomed, and they did a great job. It's best to call to schedule a grooming appointment since grooming services aren't available every day. We keep bringing Annie back because the staff is friendly and helpful and parking is easy since they have a parking lot behind the store. read more

This store is such an awesome store. I came here with my little dog. And as always she is greeted at every independent pet store with some goodies to eat. That is quite the way to lure our dogs into the pet store :) Either way I love it because that we we dont' have to buy a treat and find that our dog doesn't like it. What was great about this store is that the woman who was helping me was extremely knowledgeable with the food. I have been feeding my dog with ziwipeak and kibble but read that ziwipeak is mostly meat product. I wasn't exactly sure whether it was appropriate to feed content that was an entirely meat diet. Turns out my dog is doing fine on ziwipeak. In fact she doesn't exactly look forward to her kibble when she sees it. She jumps for joy for her ziwipeak. I was also given samples to try out in case. I know people say that dogs should stick with one diet but my dog loves variety. I am planning to keep her on ziwi in the morning and honest kitchen at night time. What a spoiled brat. We are coming back her hopefully soon to pick up some more dog food and treats for our pup! read more

This is the answer to Railey's for everyone looking for a more complete, less dog-clothing oriented, locally owned pet store in Fremont. I've been a "regular" shopper here since about 6 months after they opened and have not been disappointed. The owners, Nick and Amanda are helpful and knowledgeable (and they seem to genuinely like my dogs who can be downright obnixous). If they don't already sell something you want, they will order it for you or try to tell you where to get it. And Yes, the food is expensive, and maybe you think I am nuts, but I am not going to feed my dogs the crap that comes from China that is poison, literally. The food costs more because it is natural and has the protein and other things your pet needs, not just a bunch of corn and processed chemicals and fillers. What's more, the prices here are better than the ones you'll find at other natural pet food stores. Ok, I'm getting off my soapbox now, but please people, support the local businesses and your pets' good health! read more

Great experience, great pet store. Spread the word to your fellow pet owners. I've really appreciated Nick's personal attention to my dog and some of her health issues since I got her as a puppy. Now she is a healthy, mature, beautiful (fairly well behaved) dog and I wanted to say thanks to Nick and Petapoluza for providing us with quality knowledge and products. Support your locally owned businesses! read more

Nice pro stations for dog bathing although my doggie doesn't like it as much as rub-a-dub. I tend to bring my own scissors/nail stuff. Music is usually KEXP which peps me up. Owners nice. Hard to criticize for being so swellegant. At least they don't have the cashmere outfits... read more

Great place, nice owners and they carry Felidae cat food!

Thank you, Petapalooza, for saving me from having to drag my cat-loving ass to Petco, for teaching me about diatomaceous earth (and it's powdery insanity), for providing Wheat Scoopable litter at a *reasonable* cost, and for having everything I need to take care of my psychotic fur children. read more

I happened upon this gem of a pet store yesterday while visiting Fremont. It was clean, tidy and visually appealing. Parking was easy with a lot in back and pets (on a leash) were welcome. My dog, Chewee, and I were immediately greeted as we walked into the store. I asked a plethora of questions about every single product I was considering and received answers above and beyond my expectations, and in the end, left me feeling as though I had made informed decisions. In fact, I was even talked out of a couple items I was considering purchasing because they were not well suited for our family. One was a clicker, and the employee (which I later learned was the owner), noted that Chewee responded well to voice prompts and encouraged us to try that route first. He even brought up a great article about voice prompt training on his computer and let me read it in the store. I also really wanted a toy for Chewee, but since she was a very recent rescue, he encouraged me to allow her time to settle with our family before I ventured on the toy quest. In all honesty, I was a prime target to spend a bunch of money on frivolous purchases, and it was made very clear to me that this store is not there to pad their pocketbook, but because they truly love animals. They really spent the time to educate me and share with me as much information as needed so that I could feel like I have made the best choices for Chewee. Despite the fact that I live in Tukwila, I will be making the drive to their store for Chewee. I felt good about every penny I spent there, and these days that seems to be the exception, not the standard. read more

I love this pet store! The parking is super easy and never have had trouble finding a spot. The workers are friendly and attentive. I love the products they sell and I don't have enough good things to say about the self wash. It's clean, I have never waited in line and they supply everything for you! I would highly recommend it his place! read more

Just moved into the neighborhood and dropped in today for a la carte grooming services for my dog. Jill the groomer was so helpful and took my Louis in right away. While waiting the girl up front was very nice and made me feel so welcome. They have a great selection of food, treats, toys and apparel at fair prices. I'm so glad that I found Petapoluza, it's going to be my new go to pet store! read more

If you have a pet, this is where you need to be going! One of the best things about this place are the people. A complete wealth of knowledge, they are both open and giving while not getting pushy. A sale seems less important to them than just the well being of your pet. Being the owner of a 80+ pound dog, the bathing unit is a god-send! Everything you need is there, check it out sometime. read more

I'm very happy to have a local pet store near my place. I'm a new owner of a kitten and love living a short walk away from the pet essentials. The owner was working when I stopped in today and provided a great in-store experience. He greeted me when I arrived and let me browse around without hovering. He was quick to assist when I had questions about cat vs kitten food and was willing to look up information he didn't know (he's more of a dog guy). At the register he continued offering tips and knowledge and let me know he's willing to order in product I was interested in that they don't currently carry (great option, especially for someone with a little more opinions/knowledge then me!) I left with more info on how to properly care for my cat along with some paperwork on upcoming events. Did you know Petapoluza will have vet professionals in-store to administer shots? So convenient. Very happy with this place. read more

Petapoluza is my favorite pet store in the city. It's like a smaller, neighborhood version of Mud Bay in regard to the products they carry. The owners are super friendly and know the products well. When our puppy was having some food allergies, Nick helped get us switched over to Orijen and mentioned that a fish oil supplement could help if it continues. He also tossed in a few samples and got us sorted out for a frequent buyers program. They have a great toy and accessory selection for both dogs and cats. The standard high end products such as Kong are there, as well as some local products, which is cool! Overall, a great store with great service and products - definitely our go-to spot in Seattle! read more
