Update: The Earthlink rep who responded to my review contacted me directly via email and gave me a number to call which she told me was to her executive team. I called them and the issue was resolved in less than 10 minutes. I'm only providing 2 stars however, because the issue should have never gotten as far as it did - Earthlink would NOT respond to my pleas for help via text or 'chat' and I was not able to access my email for over a month until I posted my complaint here and filed a report with the BBB. I had been planning to migrate from Earthlink to a new email for awhile but wasn't quite ready to make the change. I will be doing so shortly. I'm embarrassed to say that I pay $18+/month for Earthlink now. That says everything. read more

A little confusing to set up and finish account verification. But otherwise it is okay.

We have had EarthLink for close to 1(one month). Upon signing up for this service we were assured, on a recorded line that we had zero data cap. We were also assured the speed they offer would handle 2 phones and 2 TVs ( which we only have one TV now). Within TWO weeks we were getting emails and texts that our data was "running low ". Today a new text "you've reached your data limit for the month ". WHAT? After over an hour on the phone, I was "gifted " some extra data ( which will of course not roll over to the next month). This is truly misleading to the public and quite frankly a lie and false information. EarthLink should be totally ashamed of themselves. THE MINUTE we are able to locate a reputable ISP, we will change. Obviously we would never ever recommend this company to ANYONE. Do better EarthLink. read more

This is more of a follow up to the statement I left at the end of March. Someone who is allegedly upper management at Earthlink replies to most reviews and sometimes tell the writer to call a specific phone number and provides a pin number. Well, not everyone monitors Yelp daily so that by the time you see the phone number and pin, it has already expired so you can't actually talk to anyone in 'upper management.'. This is a good example of Earthlink 'customer service ' and as a long time customer for more than 20 years, they can take their 'customer service ' and $15/mo price increase with no advance notice and stick 'em. Service is horrific. Had it for 1 month never had service . Cancelled it February 10 and returned equipment February 11 at 9:31 am ups was received February 16 2025 9:13 am by Joyce . Confirmed it with EarthLink every weekend get email they charged 400 for unreturned equipment called three times they confirmed it but still charged my account . Can't get them to fix the issue . I'm new to Georgia and wasn't familiar with ISPs in Macon, so I chose EarthLink. That was a mistake. From month one, the experience has been awful. Representatives give different answers every time you call about the same issue. Promises are made and never honored. Tech support is ineffective, and customer service is shockingly rude--clearly uninterested in whether you stay or leave. I pay my bill on time every month, without fail, and it genuinely does not matter to them. After doing more research, I also realized their pricing is completely unreasonable compared to other providers. I should have researched more beforehand--that part is on me--but if this review helps someone else avoid the same headache, it's worth it. I'm moving, breaking my contract, and paying the early termination fee because my peace of mind is worth more than staying another day with this company. Do yourself a favor: don't sign up with EarthLink. Find another provider if you possibly can. read more

Horrible experience I moved to a new area and I work from home so I needed the fastest internet available to me. I never even got to use my internet because they put the wrong IMIE number on my router and kept saying it was escalated, only find out it never was. I asked to speak with a supervisor for 3 days in a row before I canceled it a week later, and returned the equipment only to be charged a $400 non equipment return fee, after Joyce in the office took the package from UPS at the front desk. So my signing up with Earthlink Fiber was a little bit of a rocky start. I was given a lot of misinformation in the beginning regarding the installation, and equipment. First of all we have AT & T fiber connections under ground because our neighbors have AT &T fiber. When the installer came out the first time he told me he could not do the installation because there needed to be fiber in our area. He told me someone would have to come out and add cables under ground. That pushed our installation back by almost 2 weeks. The next installer who came out was very efficient, and he placed the modem/router up stairs like I wanted. I signed up over the phone and the CSR told me there would be no charge for the equipment. She said I would be paying $49.00 per month. Once the installation was complete, my first bill was $69.00. When I called to let them know I was told I wouldn't be charged for equipment I was told the CSR made a mistake. So I continue to pay $69.00 per month. As far as the service is concerned I run speed tests pretty regularly and I have never seen the 300 mps I was promised. The service works fairly well, but last night while trying to stream a movie, there were some glitches. I tried several different streaming services and the result was the same. Anything I tried to watch kept buffering. This has never happened before with other internet services. I'm hoping the problem will not occur the next time I want to stream a movie. read more

UPDATED: After weeks of trying to get things fixed, I cancelled. They refunded my charges and had me download labels to return the routers (that took a while also). I sent both routers back. Last Tuesday on Feb 17, I received an email threatening me that they would charge me $436.40 if I did not return the router. I already had. And I took photos of both boxes and both receipts from the UPS store. I called earthlink, and their rep confirmed they had received both routers and I should just ignore the email. Today 2/22/2026, Earthlink attempted to charge my debit card for the above amount. Fortunately, it was declined and I was alerted. This is a terrible internet service provider. My home internet has been out for 6 days. I've scheduled two different appointments for a technician to come out to address the problem. No technician showed for either appointment. Customer Service is of no help. They can't explain why no one has showed up. While they offered to credit my account for the 6 days I've been without service, they still cannot offer any explanation or solution for restoring service. They always "apologize for the inconvenience," but they cannot tell me when or how my internet will be restored. This company should not be in business, and I highly recommend you avoid using Earthlink at all costs. Your "High Speed Data" is a LIE!!!!! I was just told by customer service that ANYTHING over ZERO bytes per second counts as high speed (over half of my downloads run under 1mbps). Then, when trying to finish a download that had been running all night, I run over my limit by 8Gigs (308G total). I purchased an additional 5G of high speed data to finish the download only to be told that it upped my high speed data to 305Gigs..... WHICH I HAD ALREADY EXCEEDED!!!!! So instead of adding 5G to the 308 already used you applied it to the amount ALREADY downloaded at a low throttled speed!!!! **I gave you more money FOR NOTHING!!!!** That's called "Conversion" (Conversion is a civil tort that occurs when someone intentionally takes another person's property without their consent, or acts as if the property belongs to them: Taking and failing to return property or provide services) and it is Illegal. If I pay for an ADDITIONAL 5G of high speed data I should GET an additional 5 G of high speed data, ffs. YOU PEOPLE SUCK AND I WILL GLADLY PAY THE EARLY TERMINATION FEE TO GET AWAY FROM YOUR KRAP COMPANY AS SOON AS ANYONE ELSE IS AVAILABLE IN MY AREA! We ordered wireless Internet to be installed in our home. Total disaster! After first being told that we weren't able to get the service,which we had to call to confirm. After it was confirmed, the 8am-4pm appointment window stretched to 8am-10pm with NO updates at all!? I ended up telling them to cancel the order and decided on a different carrier for fear that, as a FIRST IMPRESSION, if anything would go wrong and we needed service, this would be the same response. Not a great way to conduct business at all. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. The internet service never worked, the company is horrible and the customer "service" is terrible. I had the service for only 10 days and each one of them was bad. I had to unplug the modem every day I had service. Most of the time that didn't fix it. I dealt with their customer service for more than 10 hours (6 in one day) and they never fixed the issue. Two bad modems later I had enough. I went to cancel the service and they charged me $200 to cancel. This company is terrible and I would run from it as soon as you can. read more

Eartlink rep was very sociable, easy to talk with regards to the service, monthly fee is great, service men who came to bury cable were on appointed time, very nice and quick with their time. The installer of the internet equipment was very sociable and fast to do his job and linked our t.v.'s before he left. I've had them for a few months and the service was fast, but last week it went down. Their so-called 24-hour customer servixe has turned out to be mostly texting, and they all tell me to restart my router even though I start the conversation letting them know I already did router troubleshooting. Turns out they also just lease the fiber from ATT so they couldn't even give me updates. It took 3 days to get it fixed, and now 36 hours later it's down again and they're putting me through the same song and dance. I'm switching to ATT or Google so at least I can deal directly with the company and not basically pay a 3rd party for lousy service. Oh, and every time there's an outage ATT sends me a text notifying me and saying they'll credit my bill for the down time, but EarthLink doesn't. So done with them.​​ read more

The technicians they sent out were from ATT and they didn't do anything.
