Came here for dinner , our server was very friendly and quick. She said sorry for the wait multiple times but honestly didn't feel like it took long at all for the food to come out. We had a white sangria and a guava margarita , these were alright but not the best in my opinion. Seemed sweet but not very flavourful. We had the Nashville chicken burger and chili chicken + wontons. The chili chicken wontons were great , just the right about of sauce and wontons were crisp. The chicken burger was quite big , very filling. It was tasty and not spicy - asked for the pickles on the side. There was no wait on a Friday evening. Me and my partner went here last night, I have been here multiple times before and had amazing experiences. The waitresses are wonderful, the food is delicious and the drinks are lovely!! Lots of options (for everyone) The tuna taco had a perfume finish which wasn't for me but it was very fresh (wouldn't call it spicy) The dynamite roll had very stiff/dry rice, but the mango was a nice addition We also had the artisan bread and the prawn gyoza and they were both absolutely delicious!! Place was dead. I should have headed the warning. 25 min wait for food. Had the bacon cheddar burger. Bacon was burnt, beef pattie was overdone, fries were cool, and gravy was old. Could hear the kitchen staff talking and joking. Had to get up to find the server and ask that she join us at the table. I explained the issue, and she took the food back to the kitchen. We then heard her yell asshole, loudly in the back. She didn't return to the table after that. A second server dropped the bill off and told us she took the burger off the bill, like she was doing us a favor for removing it, and ran off. Next, the bar tender then came to collect payment. We again explained the situation, and he dealt with the issue professionally. This was, without a doubt, the worst experience I've experienced at a restaurant in a while. I am normally a Big Earl's fan, and would normally give the locations I have visited in the past a 4 or 5 star rating. This location however seems to deviate from the normal formula. Everything seems the same (or similar), but the consistency of the actual food is different. On this occasion we had a Santa Fe Salad and two burgers. The salad was just plain different. Less chicken (and differently prepared Cajun spice), few to little dates and corn, no cilantro and an excessive amount of tortilla chips. I understand hat there are different tastes in different regions but this seems like too much of a variation. The burgers were both well done and a little hard to eat. read more

But, ahhhh! .....the Clam Chowder was a DISASTER ...where was that essential "creamy smooth chowder" (not a wishy watery broth) ... & totally missing was a seafood flavour replaced by an even less than pleasant flavour ... then to add insult to injury the potatoes were not wholly cooked. Two of us sampled this sad concoction & agreed. The pleasant server explained, "this is the way we make it". Then, PLEASE PLEASE ...stop making it! Earl's Vernon BC - I've been wanting to check out the brunch for some time. my friend went before and didn't like it and now I know why. had prawn benny.. prawns were cold, eggs over-poached, measly teaspoon of hollandaise and there was garbage under the table. paid with a $50 and hostess asked if I wanted change ..? my bill was only $19.43 ..! then came back with change and asked if I wanted all my change. said because I paid cash it's hard to make change. these girls aren't hired for their brains that's for sure. whatever happened to the day when you pay and then leave a tip without the server breathing down your neck and trying to take it before you offer? based on her, the hostess, the food and the garbage I left no tip.. read more

My wife was there last night and she got food poisoning. She had the kungpao chicken. They forgot her dish and served everyone else at the table, so likely they rushed her dish and served undercooked chicken. Service was bad too. Never going back. Friendly service excellent food. I had the tortilla soup and the salmon. The tortilla soup was absolutely delicious although not quite as hard as I would've liked, hence only four stars today. The salmon was absolutely perfectly done and came with the great side of vegetables: beets, carrots and zucchini. The vegetables were perfectly done, crispy hot and delicious. The Baz Maddy rice with the salmon had a sprinkling of toasty fried onions on top. It was quite good and you could taste the Basmati perfuming. For the interior, this Earls is great! Food is the same as in every Earl's..... The servers are attentive, and the 'Happy Hour Drink and Food specials' are great! This Earl's is a pretty standard restaurant, with decent food. I like the burgers and chicken Caesar salad. But there's nothing "wow" about it. We are always so amused about how many pretty girls it takes to welcome and seat customers. It usually takes no less than 4 hostesses to find a seat on the chart, get the menus and seat us. We don't bother asking them questions anymore because they don't seem to know anything about the specials, menu or drinks. What a waste of money this restaurant pays these girls to know nothing. The servers are pretty good - but we hardly ever see them. They take our order but a food runner brings it from the kitchen. If you ask a hostess or runner for another drink or an extra napkin etc. you are referred back to the server (because no one but the servers know anything about the menu or how to place an order). I find it really distracting when hostesses, runners, servers, AND buss people are constantly walking up and down the aisles over and over. It's just a lot of people constantly going by our table. They charge a plating fee per person if you bring a birthday cake, and they charge 15% gratuity for 8+ people (regardless of the level of service). So we'll now go somewhere else for our larger celebrations. read more

We were in Vernon the week before Christmas looking for a restaurant where we could sit down. Vernon doesn't seem to have many restaurants of note. Earls is a chain restaurant. Even though the female servers here are very attractive, they seemed to have a good grasp of the menu items. We both had the Hunan Kung Pao with chicken. It was fast and good. Sydney, "spelled like the place in Australia", was friendly, polite and very helpful. This ensured we ate a great meal without any problems for me. Have been going here for 14 years but the last 4 meals there have been terrible. The waitresses are great but the food has been terrible and the second last time I was there it took 40 minutes for a salad, a burger and a sushi roll. Service was satisfactory and friendly. However, i ordered the the fig and Brie sandwich. It arrived undercooked and cold. Brie still in cold chunks, bread (not the triangular ciabatta you usually expect) cold, spinach as crisp as salad. The reason: long-time clients of Earl's stores from Vancouver to Toronto and all over BC, anxious to check out the newly renovated Vernon restaurant. The occasion: a birthday celebration with friends on Wednesday Oct. 3rd, 2012 at 3:00 - 5:00pm on a lovely Fall afternoon. The result: dismal at best. We will not be back anytime soon. The food was well-prepared with a pleasing presentation. The service from the dismissive maitre d' to our grossly inattentive server was inexcusable and inappropriate. Neither of them was overwhelmed with clients at the time; it was to the contrary. My husband was up three times searching for anyone to help us! Perhaps a refresher course in what polished customer service looks like would be helpful for the future of these two young people and Earl's Vernon's reputation. Don't know who's been writing some of these dirtbag reviews on the Vernon Earl's, but I chose to ignore what I'd read tonight and give them a shot, as my past experiences in Earls' across the country have been consistent and satisfying. Had the pleasure tonight of being served by a smart, pretty young woman named Karen tonight, who took good care of me, with prompt, courteous and attentive service. From the quick delivery of my Mojito and Quinoa Avocado Powerbowl, to timing the arrival of my Californian pizza perfectly, my visit here, I'd have to say, was actually better than many I've had at locations in other cities. When I inquired about an espresso, there was a concern that nobody on shift knew how to operate the complex machine, but Karen took the time to teach herself and brought me a delicious after dinner espresso to cap off my lovely meal. I have never before left a review on yelp but felt as though it would only be right to acknowledge that this place IS worth trying out should you find yourself in Vernon and recognize the familiar logo. They're doing it well here and from what I witnessed tonight, there seems to be a greater focus on substance in their hiring practices than in some other markets. 'Nuff said. Great job Karen. I was there two nights ago. I ordered the rocket salad and my friend order the Cajun chicken. The rocket salad was doused in dressing. The chicken in it was so salty it was barely edible and the avocado in it had already gone brown. The Cajun chicken was also so salty it was barely edible. My father in law was at Earl's in Vernon BC on Friday Sept 7th, 2012. He ordered Halibut Fish and Chips. His fish was Cod, not Halibut. When he spoke to the waiter, all he said was it is Halibut and did nothing about it. My father in law is a fisherman, from the East Coast, he knows the difference. We've gone to Earl's for family events and date nights for over 10 years. This Earl's went through the 'update reno' and to tell you the truth, the older, funkier Earl's was more upbeat and enjoyable. Now it looks like every other 'trying to be chic urban' spot. So that's my take on the ambiance...not as good as it WAS. Now the food....there are lots of good stuff on the menu, the teriyaki salmon, bento box, edamames and blackened salmon are some faves...but they added some new 'prawn tacos' which was a laugh (you know those little rubbery toe-nail shrimps?) yeah...that was what was floating in a sea of mayo.....so don't waste your time ....more than once i had a dirty glass or dirty silverware. Is it just me or are the waitresses lookin kinda skanky? I thought that the reno was to bring some class to the place? If you enjoy a glass of wine when you're out, like I do, the choices are slim, although the wines they carry are good. (I just like to know that I have more options) I like the Earl's in Kelowna better just because of the open windows with the view of the lake....makes for a more memorable experience...all about the ambiance! read more
