My friend took me here for lunch. It was one of his favorite haunts when going to Kal Beach. The patio has an excellent view of Kal Beach and Kalamalka Lake. As it was a cool day, we sat indoors. The place is quite big with a section for pool tables. There are bar seating as well as tables. I had the black and blue tuna burger and it was amazing! The tuna was a thick piece of steak, perfectly seared. The blue cheese on the bun went surprisingly well with the tuna. The fries were hot and crispy. The menu had other things I would like to try in future. Mussels. Burnt pork ends. Brisket. Yum yum. My friend liked the double Caesar cocktail too. read more

We sat on the patio for appetizers and drinks. Nice pub atmosphere with a view of the lake and beach. The wings were great. However, not impressed that this place allows smoking! No signs posted for smoking v/s non-smoking areas. Our waitress didn't appear to have much time for us but the service was speedy enough. Don't think we'll return. Can't believe they allow smoking in a public place in this day and age. read more

This place has gone downhill. Ordered the Thumbleweed turkey burger and it was inedible. I actually thought the bread was moldy, I checked because that's what it tasted like. My husband ordered the chicken and waffle sandwich and it was just ok at best. It took forever to get our food. I asked the server when we would be getting it and she told me the restaurant was busy so it takes longer. Ummmmmm so you aren't staffed to operate as a full restaurant?!? I told the server the food was just ok and she laughed and walked away, I told her I was serious but I don't think they care they must realize the food sucks. My advice, hit Original Joes's 5 minuets down the street its 1000x better. read more

this has been my worst experience inside a liquor store. so me and my girlfriend entered separately and did not interact inside the store. when it was my turn to pay for the single can of beer that I had picked out and the cashier asked for my ID. wasn't a problem I handed this middle aged woman my ID, which I knew was expired because I bought insurance for my car earlier that day and he told me that as long as you aren't driving your ID can be used to identify yourself for up to 6 months after expiry. (I'm 24) I explained this and looked up the law on my phone and showed it to her. she admitted that that was the law but refused my service regardless. I said fine and left under my breathe in the way out i accurately labeled her a bitch. I then waited in my car. little did I know this "Lady" also refused my girlfriends purchase and then started yelling at her because we were "wasting her time". she then yelled at my girlfriend to go to hell. so we drove home and emailed HQ and they said they can't review the videotape because it could make the business look bad. read more

It has been over two weeks since our visit here, and we have given it time to mull it over. We are still fuming. We visited Alexanders the day before Canada Day, and have frequented this bar a few times before, so we were expecting the same decent experience as always. We drove to Alexanders, parked in the lot and walked into the patio and proceeded to drink. We knew from the get-go that we would be leaving the truck there, and that we were being picked up by our boyfriends who were coming to eat (at the pub) when they were done work in an hour or so. We stayed on the patio for about an hour, spent around $100 on drinks/shots- our rides then informed us they would be stuck longer at work. Not wanting to get stupidly hammered, we chose to walk over to the beach, and then meet them back at the pub for dinner in 45 min or so. Upon grabbing our towels from the truck after paying, a staff member from Alexanders informed us that we had to move the truck out onto the public road. We said no, as we had been drinking. He said if we were going to the beach, we had to move the truck. Thinking it was a mistake, we said no, no- we just came from your pub, check in with the server, we were out on the patio drinking. The argument continued and he threatened to have the truck towed if we did not move it. Needing our truck for work Tuesday morning, we were baffled at what to do and very intimidated by what we believe was a bouncer (??) so we moved it across the parking lot- we absolutely refused to go onto public roads after drinking and there were DOZENS of spaces. Before we could even get out of the truck again, he was already in our faces- now threatening us, saying that if we did not move the truck out onto the public road, he would call the cops on us for impaired driving because "he had footage of us driving across the parking lot". I asked him how he can do this, that we have people coming back to not only pick us up but to spend MORE money there, but that we were literally just in the pub spending money - to which he said he didn't care. Alexanders- we are both servers, and we know this is completely illegal. This is disgusting and if this kind of behavior continues from your staff, this could end really badly for you in another situation. Train your staff on responsible liquor management and maybe employ staff with the basic common knowledge that you cannot make someone drive after they have been drinking AT YOUR BAR. We expect a follow up, because we won't be letting this one go. read more

Bad service and bad quality. I was not impressed at all other than the location was not bad. The guy running the bar was rude and seemed to only be after the money portion of things. Not a nice atmosphere or vibe. Will not be going back!! read more

Don't ever go during the day, during winter worst food imaginable, chili was on special - out of a bag and took 35 mins to arrive aka microwave bag from gfs took one bite and waitress didn't even offer a refund as I said was barley edible. Honest truth only visit this place during the summer for awesome drinks. read more

Great location, somewhat slow service. The food is exactly what you might expect form any other pub. Not high end dining, but it is decent. I've had a few different items from their menu and it's always been alright. Tough to beat sitting on the patio right on the beach on a nice day! read more

The location of this Pub is prime and it's wonderful that kids are allowed to come but the food is expensive and generally not very good. Unless you want greasy chick wings or a burger, stick to the drinks here. read more

This was a beautiful little pub to eat at. The pub had a nice view of the water and it was quite beautiful at sunset. If it was warmer out it would have been nice to sit on the patio. I had the steak and prawns and my coworker had the steak sandwich. We both enjoyed our meals. The prices were reasonable. The service was nothing special and our bill took a while. read more

Great location. Food is alright but sometimes the food takes a long time to come.

Food was just what we ordered and the location is great! The boys really enjoyed their chicken fingers they where very good and my Seafood Jambalaya was very good. My wife had a Steak Sandwich which was cooked to her liking and the Greek Salad she had with was very good! I would recommend this as a stop for families as it was right beside the beach and when the kids finished up they enjoyed a walk on the pier and throwing some sand at each other while we enjoyed finishing up our drinks and taking care of the the bill. Price was very comparable to everywhere else we had been at this holiday trip. read more

We ordered beef dip which came on a nice garlic bun and dry ribs which were exactly what you would expect. Draft beer selection was a bit dull with two Fernie options the most exotic. To start, my family ordered the "appy platter". When it came, I was disappointed to find that the artichoke dip had what seemed to be a plastic cup melted inside it. Also, everything was absurdly salt covered, and the dry ribs were nothing but bone. The stuffed mushroom didn't seem to actually have any mushroom to it, and the carrots and celery from the veggies weren't crisp. Generally very bland. Would not recommend, and I don't plan on returning, unfortunately. read more

Alexander's recently changed over to a family-welcome pub. Wish they would change over the chef, though. In fact, one night, a chef quit right in the middle of the dinner hour. They need to get their act together and trim down the menu. The only reason we go there is when my daughter gets her choice of restaurants, and that's because she likes the chicken fingers (she has eaten chicken fingers from coast to coast in Mexico, Canada, and the States) so the 3 stars are for the chicken fingers. I usually have the warm scallop salad with blue cheese dressing. Sometimes there is grit in it, though (?) and the last time I went, there were 3 (count 'em) scallops in it. (The sacrifices we make for our kids, right?) The place always seems empty and the only time there are quite alot of people there is when it's nice out so that you can sit on the patio and have a drink.
