Not sure what to think of this place. Slow service to get going then excellent service. I had the Grilled Chicken Sandwich with salad. Both excellent. Wife had the Mac and Cheese. Horrible, soupy and bad flavor. Probably try someplace else next time. Just my opinion from one visit. Just my opinion. read more

Good bar to visit while in Vernon. The menu is mouthwatering with huge variety of pizza and taco. Good selection of drinks and wine. Quality of service was excellent and the bathrooms were clean and tidy. read more

Good location, fast efficient service and surprisingly reasonable prices. Fish tacos were awesome.

Just had a simple prime rib sandwich. Wife had beef dip. Both had same meat dry over cooked. The dip was so strong could not eat it. Could not Finnish meals. read more

Had a blast checking out the Kal in Vernon, BC, on a girls' trip last week. The Kal was a short 20 minute drive from the resort we were staying at. Free lot parking, Tuesday night Trivia, and seriously good tacos! But seriously, so glad a local gave us this recommendation. Everything is from scratch to the hand breaded calamari and mozzarella sticks to the cheesy jalapeño poppers! They had a great happy hour menu and loved the old school vibe. The Kal boasts original brick walls from the last remaining original public house in Vernon. It's located inside the Kalamalka Hotel - built in 1892. The name is derived from a popular Indian Chief who bore the same name and lived at the head of Kalamalka Lake. It's worth checking out their website to know what the events of the night are from trivia to hip hop night, it may make a difference in which night you'd like to go. Oh and if you like wings, I swear they had something crazy like 99 flavors! read more

See all

we went in and restaurant nearly empty. we went to the quiet section and waited twenty minutes after hitting ringer and no one came so we left with another couple as well! read more

Ambience was nice but holy moly was the food we ordered ever bad! We got basic Margherita pizza, salt and pepper chicken wings and general tsos chicken. Food was lukewarm and did not taste very good at all. Quite disappointed with it all considering price point was also terrible for how bad it all tasted. read more

As one of the few " sports bars " in town, we would frequent this place. Service is very hit or miss and this time, it was way off. Server was unpleasant off the bat like customers walking in are an inconvenience that cuts into gossip time with coworkers. Wouldn't make eye contact and was in a hurry. This is at 1:30pm on a Monday and needless to say it was not busy. " manager " has no clue what is going on in her establishment and did not own up to lapses in service. The way she talked was like it was a normal occurrence to wait for close to an hour for food on a weekday in a sit down restaurant. This place keeps renovating and looks like they are not done. One more thing they should " renovate " is customer service lessons from top down. read more

The Kal recently had a big renovation but it still has that divey low roof inside. The open-air booths by the windows are really quite nice on a warm day though. It has a variety of pub style food that's usually fine (the tacos and the perogies are popular). My favorite are the tacos, which are $5 each usually but on sale for $3 each on Tuesdays after 2PM (wish it were all day - that's a bit weird). read more

Kal pizza is by far the best pizza in the city no question. they have updated everything there including a new area for families with an arcade. bring my kids there all the time cuz the food is made in house and delicious. read more

Such a good sports bar! Newly renovated and AMAZING pizza and wings. Such a good spot to watch sports or just have some drinks and food. 10/10 would recommend! Also good prices. read more

Finally lost me today ..... been a long time (over 20 year) customer I've always defended this place but that ends today . Went in for lunch ordered as soon as we sat down as we were in a slight time crunch . Made a very simple order , Cobb salad and 4 tacos . After waiting approximately 40 mins the server that took our order assured us its "on its way at " then at 55 minutes since entering establishment got the same message. I said " I'm finding this hard to believe . Server then proceeded to get the "manager" who tried to pass blame off claiming she was unaware of the issue . She was completely clueless and when I asked the questions any patron that has waited way way too long would ask claimed I was being rude to her .... This so called manager has no business being in the industry as she had no clue how to deal with this situation. And all she attempted to do was make excuses and pass the blame ... sorry to say but think this may be it for me at this place as it has been going downhill for the last decade and clearly the management has no clue what their doing read more

Dive bar atmosphere, would be beautiful on a warm day with the doors rolled up. Bison burger and Nashville chicken sandwich were delicious! Pub style food. Decent service read more

Great Scott! And great broccoli cheddar soup! The best I've ever had! Terrific service too. Seemed a little dumpy on the way in, but quant and comfortable once I settled in. read more

We love this place. It's not the fanciest, but the pizza is awesome, the breakfast is delicious and the prices are great. Kal is our go-to restaurant if we want a good meal at a great price. We love this place. It has an awesome atmosphere, the service is great. We highly recommend it. read more

The worse service I have ever had. Our waitress was rude, no drink refills, main came out without the appetizer, no cutlery or napkins, no condiments. Absolutely no effort was made in customer service. Things were literally thrown on the table and she hurried away, had to flag her down to request anything and half the time she ignored us, it was baffling ! I would never come back here. read more

Just ate there. The food is not like it used to be. Wings are so tiny they must get them from quail. The waitress was very sassy and said she took the wings off the bill but hadn't done it. Always a nice place for a beer but I wouldn't bother to eat there read more

Visiting here in Vernon. Decided to try this place out since it's been here for a long time. Very rude host when we came here. Didn't make us feel wanted or welcome to dine here. My friends and I decided not to eat here. Best choice I made in a long time! read more

-----Food----- Average pub food with 99 different types of beers... -----Condition----- Sticky floors and a bit dingy with a dirty smoke littered patio -----Service----- Probably won't get any when it's busy -----Cosmetics----- It's got a small indoor mini golf and a couple pool tables, besides that nothing out of the ordinary -----Accessibility----- Street parking read more

Don't bother with this place. Food is less than mediocre. Service is downright rude and value for money is non existent. We showed up here for lunch and ordered a bunch of wings and kalamari. After the 45 minutes that it took for them to bring out the food, it was just a massive disappointment. The wings were soggy and cold and the kalamari was so undercooked that the batter was still runny. So we didn't touch the food and we asked for it to be corrected or at least a discount on the bill. But the manager rudely refused and told us he can take the soggy disgusting mess he served us and RE-FRY it! We refused and the manager wouldn't do anything to correct the situation. Never going back here again and I'm pretty sure unless the place is a front for some other kind of operation, it will go out of business soon enough. read more

We rediscovered the Kal a few months ago. The 10 cent wings and 99 beers brought us in and we were pleasantly surprised by the decor, service and food. Everything was great. And we keep going back. The servers are able to recommend different drinks based on what I tell them I am looking for. The food is served quickly and is hot. On wing nights, I recommend getting there early (4:30/5:00ish) because it fills up fast. Aside from the wings, I recommend trying the slider burger sampler - it's 5 different mini burgers. It gives you a good idea of what their big burgers are like. The chicken fingers are good too. My 2 complaints: I called to make a reservation for my husband's birthday party. The guy who answered the phone said we didn't need a reservation and to just come whenever. We showed up (on a wing night) and the server told us we should have made a reservation as she pointed to other tables that had been reserved. I said I tried to, but he wouldn't take it. We waited about 15 minutes until she could find a few tables to put together for us - some gracious patrons offered to move. It was awkward, but it worked out and the server was really great with our table. The satellite music is set to older rock, mostly AC/DC kind of stuff. But I guess that's what a lot of their customers like. read more

I have been going to the Kal for years, and did not have too many issues as I keep returning. As of lately the bartender Jen has created a less than welcoming atmosphere. Her rudeness to me and my friends even though we were paying for our drinks and eating she was being hostile towards us wanting us to drink more and spend more money. Due to the entitlement and lack of acceptance to patrons who are out for a evening and not planning on getting loser drunk I will be boycotting The Kal from now on until something changes and Jen is replaced. read more

We had one of the best pizzas that I have every had in a long time. It was a very pleasant surprise. We ordered the Hawaiian pizza the crust and the sauce was simply amazing. Our server was super friend, I would highly recommend this place. Five thumbs up from me and my buddies. read more

In three weeks I have tried this place three times. First time I sat for twenty minutes before my presence was acknowledged at which time I was asked what I wanted to drink, I came for lunch and had to wait ten more minutes before my beer arrived and I was able to order some food. 30 minutes before I can order my lunch is just not acceptable! Second time I again sat for twenty minutes with no service at which point I, and several other customers, stood up and left. Today I tried once more and it seems that at least twenty minutes must pass before the waitress is allowed to serve you. Needless to say I left again. I wonder if the owner is aware that customers are waiting that long as it appears the management does not care... read more

Love the Kal for great pub food and beer selection. Wing days and generous portions keep us coming back. Found that Monashees pizza is now Kal pizza !! it is the best IMO. So happy to be able to enjoy it. The pizza makes a great take-out for the family that never disappoints. The new Reno's look good and inviting. booking out next guys night in one of Golf Sim rooms. Very first time we have ordered delivery from kal. We placed our order at 6: 34 and were told it would take 30 to 35 min. At 7:44 we called back to see if they had forgotten it...there was some chaos as they tried to figure out if it had gone out yet or not. As we were on the phone with them, the driver showed up at the door. The poutine was cold and the cheese had congealed so much that the somehow still got gravy did nothing to melt it. The garlic toast was cold, as were both orders of wings. When I said on the phone that the driver had just shown up ( almost an hour late) the response was " ok" and a quick hang up read more

Great sports bar. 10 cent wings sun / mon / thurs and 4.25 old mil pints everyday. Best caesars in town ( drinks ) ....

Solid sports bar. Cheap wing night, tons of different beers on tap. And a solid patio for summer!

This is my favourite place for pizza whenever I travel to the Kelowna/Vernon area. The crust is amazing, the toppings are all fresh, and the overall combination makes for one of the best pizzas I've ever had. I was there most recently a couple of weeks ago, and I noticed the owners have really upped the overall experience with some very nicely renovated seating areas including closing in one of the patios and creating a brick-walled semi-private room, not to mention the new women's bathrooms are very, very nice! read more

do not recommend. service was very slow and food seems to get forgotten. I have been a number of times and each time orders have either been wrong or have never gone through to the kitchen. Once waited 1hr for wings, and when they finally arrived with no apology or explanation (it was not busy at all) they were over cooked and dry. Have tried to give this place multiple chances but time and time again have been disappointed. read more

Not impressed at ALL by this location, the bartender who is a an older man must like taking out his frustrations on customers due to the very poor treatment I received. Food was cold and the waitress over charged us and argued with us when we pointed out the discrepancy. Over all I would not go back to this location and am sad that its the pit stain of Vernon. read more

The Kal and Monashee's are owned by the same people but the managers are not the same. I have been in the Kal sports bar regularly and have been welcomed by very friendly Staff. they have 3 in door golf machines 99 flavors of wings and 99 beer. there are TVs everywhere. they do .10 cent wings 3 days a week (Sunday, Monday & Thursday) the Food is great and drinks are cheap. i think its a great place to go and would recommend going in and checking it out. read more

Service was exceptional and the prices were very reasonable. Pints were priced well and food was excellent, especially for a bar.

I dont have much to say except the shitty service we recieved here. they acted like we were such a burden and an annoyance even though we were the only table out on the patio. We didnt see our server for almost an hour, and when i asked another one where she was they said she was on break. WTF. that other server threated to kick us out for absolutley nothing. she just yelled at us from across the patio that it WAS OUR LAST WARNING..........we didnt even get a first second or third? then when i went to go talk to her, she dissapeared. We are a lesbian couple, and we were with another couple as well, and she seemed disturbed by that fact. I could understand if we were roudy or throwing things, or yelling but we werent. Sure you talk a little louder because you at A PUB. OUTSIDE EVEN. i was quite appauled. and it would make sence the service was terrible, Monashees and Kals are ran by the same manager. read more
