Came here during lunch with my family of three. We were holding laptops and documents and had our 6 year old with us, as it was going to be a working lunch. It was busy inside but there was a 4 top table available. There were some couples at 4 top tables. The hostess asked the manager where to seat us and he said at the bar. That doesn't work with a child, it's a liability, she could fall and we were clearly attempting to work together. I explained this to the host and she just gave me a blank stare. Having run restaurants for years my family tells me my standards are impossibly high. This kitchen exceeded them with each one of our 4 dishes being loved by our diners. For the first night of Peachfest they did admirably amid a city wide staff shortage and a line stretching down the street. The steak sandwich was so good I'm guessing they hand pick their sirloin and cut their steaks in house. The seafood pasta was as good as we've had ocean side. Amazing job by the hostess keeping a pace that never crashed the kitchen and I assume the owner already knows the three cooks on tonight are some of the most capable in the Okanagan! read more

Came back because we were so impressed! Service was much better (to begin with) BUT-/- Food not even close! Sad but it depends day to day it's seems. When we mentioned we were not happy with the grilled cheese the waitress argued with us!! Took it back and re-did it but due to her attitude I was afraid to eat it! I understand that during pandemic it is hard to run a restaurant especially in a very busy long weekend. We are aware of that, hence why we came in when it was not busy (Sunday morning) - we got a table right away in their patio for lunch. Server and hostess was very engaging and ensure we (7 of us) got our water right away in a very hot sunny day. We ordered a variety of food from pasta, burger and brunch menu items. It was not busy, and the food took 1 hour. It is just unacceptable. Guests should be made aware that it will be that long of a wait. We were at the tipping point but stuck through it. Their food is hit and miss. Its a burger joint, so get their sandwiches. Stay away from pastas. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and it was amazing. 5/5. but they gave me stale fries which in return they did give us fresh fries, but I just felt defeated even after an hour wait, how can you give us stale fries? I expected above and beyond. The garlic pasta we ordered had huge chunks of uncut onions and size of peppers that are not cut evenly. Very dissapointing. Just a tip, they charge for everything. $1 of hot sauce and $1.50 for mayo. Which is uncalled for (especially with an hour of wait for food to arrive). Might be one of the busiest place in Penticton, but with the lack of kitchen staff, I would stay away for now. I went to Black Antler for the first time last weekend and was extremely impressed. Ambiance, check. Great food, check. Great drinks, check. Affordable, check (for the quality at least). I absolutely loved the decor and cozy intimate feel of this restaurant. It was super packed on a Friday night and my sister and I were lucky to get a table, I would for sure make a reservation! We started off with drinks, I got a dirty martini which was delicious and made with home made olive rind. The cocktails all looked delicious I just wanted to stick to one for the night. My sister got a local wine, which honestly was pretty overpriced, all the wines were. But that probably is just to push you to get the cocktails !! They had so many creative and unique mixtures. I started with the coconut prawns which were DELICIOUS. It was honestly the highlight of my meal. So flavorful and crunchy. I also got a procuitto grill cheese with a blackberry jam, which I thought would also be very flavorful, but after my martini and the prawns it didn't really stand out as much. My sister got the risotto balls and crispy cauliflower which were both also amazing. In summary, I will definitely be coming back when I am in town again. Last night we found ourselves at the Black Antler for dinner. After an afternoon of wine tasting in the region we both were craving a burger. Looking online we saw the Black Antler had a Waygu beef burger and it was a must try. Well we certainly weren't disappointed. I had the Buck burger which was two patties and my wife had the single patty version. Both were outstanding. We live a keto lifestyle and they were able to accommodate our needs fully. The food was great and the service was outstanding. I felt like I was in someone's kitchen having a conversation and drinking great wine. One of the things I love about this place is the focus on bringing some of the local wines to the table at very good prices. If you like BC wine there is lots to choose from here by the glass and the bottle. Great place, so much so we are headed back there tonight for the Tomahawk for Two! read more

The food was alright but after the table asked for parmesan cheese, it took long to come out and then our waitress ended up charging us for it. I'm a local, I eat out frequently. I have been to this restaurant 6-8 times, sometimes alright, but only an average place. Last night was the straw that broke the camels back. It is Black Antler policy that they will not return a drink after served, even if they bring the wrong drink!!! Wtaf?! The waitress acknowledged it was the wrong drink, told me she would bring the correct drink, but that I would still be required to pay for the first drink! Yup, you read that right. Wife and I cancelled our dinner orders (likely my steak was already cooked), left and went to the Hooded Merganser. They served the drink I ordered properly, and the wife and I spent $200 having a great dinner and a few proper drinks! We had an outstanding dinner at the Black Antler. Definitely go early and often. We had drinks and dinner at the bar. The Gin & Tonic featured craft tonic that was wonderful, and the Manhattan was made well, but on the small side. My husband had the Waygu Beef Burger, and said it was the best he'd had in a long time. My Waygu Spaghetti was really tasty and satisfying. We enjoyed the ambiance and watching the team behind the bar do their magic. If we lived in Penticton we would be here on a regular basis. read more

I really don't like giving low ratings and I was very excited to come here however, honesty is best. Pros Great Cocktails, location & decor. Love that the patio is pet friendly. Cons - Not so great communication with wait times, even with a reso. - Received steak 1.15 hours after ordering. Took my first bite it was cold. My family was in the area looking for a good place for dinner with a patio open despite the smoke and that was also dog friendly...Black Antler delivered on all counts! The patio was almost full when we arrived, but luckily the perfect spot opened up, which the friendly hostess sat us at and greeted our 45lb- 8 -month- old dog very warmly. All of our servers were good with our dog too! We loved the laid back atmosphere of this place and enjoyed jamming to the playlist blasting in the background the whole time. The wait time for our food wasn't too long considering we all ordered main dishes, about 25min. Our food came hot and was presented well. I ordered the ricotta-stuffed portobello mushroom-- a refreshing bite, like a carb-free lasagna. My sister had the chicken mushroom fettuccine-- the flavors were good but the roux was a bit powdery. My parents enjoyed their garlic butter prawn spaghetti and teriyaki rice bowl very much. What a disappointment. I've been to this place twice, neither experience has been good, this time was a real eye opener. The lack of quality given to food prep and service doesn't support the pricing, which is very, very, high; potato skins were over done, there is so much batter and condiments applied to the food couldn't taste the main ingredient, the blend of spices and sauces were blahzay or didn't really complement the food at all. Our appy, two meals and two drinks was over $110.00! Yup! Never going back, I'll spend my money were I know I'm going to enjoy a well prepared and delicious meal. read more

This place is right in the middle of town with good visibility and welcoming outdoor patio adorned with lights which is why we visited. We held our annual Customer Appreciation party yesterday and chose the Black Antler as our dinner and evening venue. What an amazing place! We were presented with 7 Huntsman's Platters for our dinner guest, all brought out on 7 foot long wooden planks with all varieties of amazing food displayed along the length. The look on people's faces watching the presentation was half the fun! It was spectacular. Tomahawk steak, ribs, chicken, shrimp - unbelievable feast worthy of a Viking Celebration following a conquest. This was truly an epic night and we have Dan and Lynn and their wonderful Black Antler team to thank for the most impressive dinner event! We liked the food. We liked the restaurant. But, we didn't like being lied to. It leaves a bad taste in your mouth. The restaurant is new and maybe they haven't figured out how to handle a wait list. We watched many people get seated that arrived long after us. The hostess never found us a table the entire time we were there. Then she told us that she tried to find us a seat (she really didn't) We assumed that she just thought we didn't notice? So we just ate outside (15 C) and left. So this is a message for the restaurant.... don't assume that people don't notice and don't assume we don't care. We love to leave good reviews but you need to do your part too. And if you mess up, just admit it and apologize sincerely. read more

Had lunch with a girlfriend. We both had an amazing time! Waiter gave a lovely suggestion for a cocktail (lavender lemonade) and it was delightful! We shared the pull pork poutine (best I've had in a long time) and the risotto balls (genius idea and delicious beyond words!) Great new location in Penticton. The full menu made it difficult to choose what to order. My friend is celiac and they have a gluten free menu to cater to her needs and they have dedicated a fryer to only gluten free items. Makes the fries desirable for celiacs. I ordered the wagu beef burger with a lettuce bun. Super delicious. The table tasted the risotto balls. Very tasty but could have used a bit more sauce. My friends tried the BBQ pork chop, wagu beef spaghetti and the full rack of ribs. All were very tasty. Good portions. Fries were amazing. The ribs were unreal. The plate was overflowing and the meat fell off the bone. Service was good. We are going back. read more

My husband and myself ordered from this restaurant for the first time tonight, and we are still raving about this meal! We ordered the Wagu beef burgers, it was the first time in my life I didn't put any condiments on my burger. The meat was so flavourful and cooked to perfection, the sauce complimented every mouthful, and the added touch of the enormous onion ring made this the world's most perfect burger! Went for weekend brunch menu. Food was spectacular and very large portions. Our group had the Black Antler plate which had pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausages, hash browns backed beans and artisan toast.
