Had a few not so fantastic experiences here in the past but went today for a birthday celebration. It was quite crowded considering it was New Year's Day and all the staff were very friendly. Came here on a date with hubs, we've been to a few different Earls locations, but we've never been here. I was very pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere was great, just what we were looking for. Not too loud, or crowded and classy but not pretentious. Great service, great staff. We booked online and they accommodated my requests and gave us a quiet booth away from others like I asked. There was a noisy side and we were seated at the opposite end of the restaurant, which was most appreciated. Our server Aiden, who was friendly and attentive, recommended a wonderful red wine, which I am going to try and find here in town. I ordered a steak which was seasoned to perfection and they let me sub out potatoes for mushrooms again exactly what I wanted. Hubs had the Fettuccine Alfredo with blackened chicken it was very good too. Our desserts were lovey, creme brûlée and cheesecake. It was a lovely night! read more

Friendly service and good food! We visited for dinner and it was delish! The waitress was super friendly and attentive. Our food was great. I had the 1/2 rack of baby back ribs. As a Texan, I wondered if getting ribs in the Okanagan was a mistake, but it wasn't! The ribs would be good anywhere and could hold their own back in Texas! Cole slaw can come in so many forms, but the slaw here is legit! My family enjoyed their entrees too. We all commented on how odd the bathrooms were. Yeah, it's not important, but square toilets? Haha. Next time I'm back in Penticton (which is often), I'll be back at Earl's! read more

This is easily the loudest place in town. The clatter from the kitchen mixed with the music makes for a super agitating dining experience. I've been coming here since I was a kid, so I know my earls pretty well and I can honestly say the food isn't what it used to be! The portions are still decent but most of it lacks any flavour so I just assume it's still a busy place because of the reputation and memories. read more

I discovered this restaurant six months ago. The first time we went to have the brunch. I ordered the sunny side eggs with sausage, bacon, beans and potatos and I found it very tasty and the dish is very complete. The second time we went is for dinner and I ordered the bacon cheese burger and as a burger lover I found it delicious. I recommend this burger. They add fries in a side. They have also a good selection of beers, cocktails and wines. read more

I've been going to Earls restaurants for over a decade easily .... My experience at the penticton location leads me to believe there's a reason why such a great restaurant elsewhere is listed at #47 in a town that has three stop lights. I think subway is ranked ahead .... Here's a letter I wrote about our experience just last week. (If I get a response I will post it) Earls To whom it may concern, First I'd like to start by giving you an idea of how much of a fan of Earles I am.... 1) restaurant of choice for 6 years in Yaletown 2) been eating at establishments all over bc for over a decade 3) I have never complained about a meal or service (until now) My good friend and I sat at the bar... Made the usual connection with people around us.... And had some good laughs. I ordered a medium rare ny steak with a side of prawns. After 25 min my steak came out... I cut down the middle like I always do.. It came out rare and cold. I told the bartender who quickly ordered me a new one. After watching everybody eat my second steak came out 25 min later... And it was terrible. It looked as if it had been pan fried and believe me... Denny's could have cooked a better steak. It doesn't end here... The manager (female don't know her name) came over and spoke with me. Kept apologizing - and I sat there listening- waiting for some solution. Nothing. I asked her if she was intending on charging me for the steak... She excalmined "yes of course". Shocked I said "then stop apologizing and leave our presence ". I didn't want to hear anymore. She was annoying. Anyways.... It doesn't end there. We continued to stay and laugh etc. The bartender then asked us to quiet down because there were families in the restaurant - and it was disturbing them. Well the only family was the Earles family.. Employees drinking. Obviously this was a message that they were trying to send. The restaurant was empty. Doesn't end there.... I left with my friend... About an hour later at the hotel we ran into the guys we met at the bar at earls ... They left after we had. Apparently the manager asked who I was??? And that I may be banned from Earles??? Food was ok, if not fairly boring. Always very pricey, I have a hard time going to a chain restaurant and paying $25-$30 for pre-cut, pre-packages, in some cases pre-cooked food. Ordered the mojito special, incredibly sweet and not enough mint. read more

Was not the best dinner, come for lunch all the time. The staff, post fire, are not quit on their game... got free drinks from server because she forgot our appy so we are happy she fixed her mistake. Years ago this place was the best restaurant in town, we'd go there for birthdays etc. Over the years unfortunately it seems the company has changed and managers have changed. Not for the better it seems. With the few experiences I've had recently it's a huge difference ... it seems like kids are running this place. Really lacking on professionalism and good quality food and service. The employees always seem to be more interested in socializing with eachother at a back table than tending to their customers. So sad to see the state of this restaurant now compared to how successful it used to be. Won't be going back. read more

We went in early Friday afternoon around 3. "Emily" was truly a blonde waitress. I asked for black coffee and my husband ordered tea. She brought all the fixings for coffee and forgot to put water in the tea pot. She left our starter dishes on the table till our meals came out. Still didn't take the dirty dishes away and then disappeared. People were in the bar but not busy and 3-4 servers. I won't go back! Someone came up with bill and said she found it hard to believe it as "Emily" was a lead server and one of their best. So I guess the service would have been shitty no matter where we sat? read more

There's a funky smell when you enter the restaurant. The carpet in the dining room was FILTHY & had little pieces of paper scattered everywhere that you could easily pick up. Our server was sitting at a table with what looked like employees who had just finished their shift. Something that wouldn't bother me if I was getting good service but unfortunately our food came before our drinks and cutlery. He had the balls to blame the bar & tell us that they were backed up. Let me guess your dishwasher is backed up too? When we finally got our drinks he brought over a pair of chopsticks for my husband's burger and salad?? No sign of a manager or shift leader on the floor or any kind of leadership. And to top it off this guy isn't busy and lets these poor hosts clear and clean his tables when I'm pretty sure they don't make any tips. Very disappointed. Won't be coming back. read more

First I should say, the ceasar salad was one of the best I have had. But unfortuately that is where it stopped. I ordered one of the specials, the Dungeness Crab and asparagus pasta. It didn't have any crab! Or at least very little. I think I got a small bite of crab. I did get a crab shell in it, so perhaps that is what they meant. It was pretty tasteless. The waitstaff was nice but the hostess had to find him to take our order. Then my boyfriend asked for more Ice Tea and he never brought it. We had to ask once we saw him, but he was pretty much MIA. I've been to Earl's dozens of times; it usually has fairly decent food. I think they like to think of themselves a bit too much sometimes; this is reflected by their pricing. We stopped at this location on our vacation on a wednesday afternoon, around 1 p.m....I'm assuming it was after the lunch rush, if there even was one. We sat outside on the patio and the service was frickin' abysmal, considering the restaurant was less than 1/4 full. It took at least 20 minutes for our drinks to arrive. That it itself was lengthy, but when the wrong drink was brought for my son, no apology was given. The waiter said "Oh, that's weird!"...like it was a brief UFO encounter beyond his control. No, son, it's not weird. It's an error. It's a mistake made by you. People make mistakes, then we move on, AFTER an apology is offered. I guess in our society these days, when you're 20-something, you don't have to apologize or admit an error unless you use the N-word in public, in which case they destroy you on social media and make sure you can never work again and have to leave the planet immediately. This wasn't one of those times. The service was sloooooooooooow. The food was ok but still pricey for what you get these days. That's not weird, that's a sign of our times. People want a lot for almost nothing these days, it seems. read more

I've been here a couple times and it all depends on what food you get. The kung pao chicken is amazing, the burgers are good, but the chicken fingers where much less then great. The staff is very nice and the atmosphere is great for dates and casual dining. read more

The food was good but the noise was overwhelming. Servers and staff were polite and did a good job. They should think a lot about noise proofing the dining room away from the lounge/ bar. I really was unable to understand my wife talking to me from across the table. When I left it was like a pressure was gone from my chest. That's it. My one and only meal at Earls. read more

Came here for lunch today and found that the service was a bit lacking even though they weren't that busy. I would have expected better service especially when there are more staff and less customers in the restaurant. The food was okay and I haven't really been to an Earl's location in a long time. I probably would have been better off going to the white spot just down the block. The chicken strips that I ordered or smaller pieces and end I felt that it was overcooked and dry. Beautiful day to have a power lunch. I met a business associate of mine here at 12 today. The service was great, on time and friendly. Taylor our server was accomadating and just a great personality. We ordered Caesar salads with chicken and it was really good. Could have used a bit less dressing so the romaine doesn't get soggy but still good. I was happy with the meal over all and we were out in an hour. Right on time. I love the patio cabanas. Good choice on a nice day. read more
