Thought we would have a meal at Earls before a concert at the Jubilee tonight. When we called for a reservation we could only reserve at 4:30 or 5:30. Seeing as though the concert started at 7:00 we picked the 4:30. Good thing we did because we waited over an hour for our food. It was a bit frustrating to see all the Skip the Dishes orders leaving the restaurant while waiting 70 minutes for our food to arrive. The food was good (I had chicken tacos) the service was good but the wait time was ridiculous. Won't be going there again if I have a time restriction. read more

I'll start this by saying one thing I do like about earls is the food is consistent. Now, as for the service. We went in Saturday afternoon at about three it wasn't too busy. We walked in, waiting for a second for the girl at the bar to look up from her cellphone and greet us. She didn't. We attempted to seat ourselves when we were greeted by a unfriendly girl, when we asked for a booth she acted as if it was a a problem. We sat there anyway as she rolled her eyes and wondering away. Lastly our waitress. Long dark hair and glasses and a see through shirt for a Saturday day shift. I personally don't care, but my family didn't like her seeing her entire bra. She was short with us cold and unfriendly. She didn't smile once, our sodas were constantly empty. It was bad enough that we will not be going back, and we all left a little grumpy. Food good. Service was okay. Food is VERY overpriced for the quality. The garlic fries, for which they charge an extra $2, were a huge disappointment. Two miniscule bits of parsley, one tiny piece of garlic and no flavor. The dipping sauce was a watery ranch dressing, tasting like it had been thinned with vinegar. I get tired of the greeters and servers saying "awesome" after everything they hear: How was your day? (Good) Awesome!. I'll have the pizza. Awesome! We'll have the bill. Awesome! When I told our server that the pasta was underdone, I was informed that Earl's cooks their pasta el dente, as if this was an exclusive method...I was offered a take-away serving that I could "microwave" when I got home. 6 out of ten at the very best. Certainly a disappointment. Met a friend early in the evening for wine and dinner. I don't go out a lot, so ate very little (saving my appetite!) anticipating a great meal. We ordered a bottle of wine (which does not come in a bottle by the way, because it's the house wine? Really, did they tap a keg? Not informed in advance. Not cool.) and I ordered a 7 oz steak ($25) with mushrooms (extra$5) and garlic toast (extra$5). I ordered my steak medium. My steak was charred (seriously charred black) and well done (ugh) around the edges, barely pink in the middle. Mushrooms were hot. Garlic toast good. It comes with (apparently) cold mashed potatoes and some melange of beets with squash (I think) and apples slices ( really, that's a vegetable now?) served over some intolerable white creamy substance that was completely unappetizing, not detailed and certainly not desired. I was so hungry and do not want to inconvenience my friend, so I ate it, but the steak was dry and unenjoyable. I mentioned all of this to the waitress and was very polite about it, but I was obviously disappointed. So you'd think she'd maybe have offered a dessert or something, but nope. No effort to try and make amends. All I can say is, I'll not be dining there again. Ever. And I urge you to find somewhere else if you want a nice meal. There are plenty of good places to eat in Calgary. This isn't one of them. read more

We had never been to an Earl's before and we hit the joint at 6pm on a Friday night with another couple. And.... we got a table in the dining room! I was fearful there would be a wait as we always drive by and the place appears packed all the time! Not tonight! Wow, good decor, nice lighting... and the food! Yes, I am a fan. I was not feeling so hot all day so I just ordered the clam chowder which is always hit or miss at all places but I loved it and cleaned my bowl. This was accompanied by a piece of garlic toast which was a giant thick slab of focaccia. Not my fave choice of bread but I liked it very much anyways, soft and fresh! My hubby had a burger (what else is new! lol) and he gave it a 10 out of 10! He still talks about it after we have arrived home! Nice bun, real bacon, great quality of beef, meat cooked well, fresh tomato - all he can say is JUICY to describe it (I tried 2 bites, it was good and I am picky about burgers, I never order them for that reason)! Our partners in crime tonight shared a pulled pork sandwich which they liked a lot that came with fries. They compared the fries to be as good as McDonald's - I tried them and I would have to agree! They also ordered the soup special of the day and it was cream of mushroom. I did not dare dip my spoon into their bowl but the mushrooms were plentiful and FRESH! I love fresh - did I mention that? Haha... Our server - he was busy but he aimed to please and he had a great personality! We decided that when these friends are in town we will always meet at Earl's for eats. Everyone around us had really great looking, great smelling dishes also! Small details like sugaring the rim on my special coffee, replacing cutlery after it was bumped off the table and would have garnered this place a 5 out of 5. My pick up order was taken down incorrectly; but the bartender working, Riley, showed me exceptional service and ensured that the correct order was prepared as quickly as possible. Plus he even took care of my bill to compensate for lost time. Standup guy! They really turned the whole situation around. I'll definitely come back and bring this location more business. read more

I very much enjoyed the setup of this restaurant, they have a kick ass patio. Although I was seated inside, that didn't bother me because the waitress was very helpful and efficient. I had the tuna nachos which I must say were absolutely delicious, flavorful and fresh. I would definitely go back there to try some other interesting items on the menu! read more

Came here on a Wednesday evening for the happy hour menu. It was around 930 and there was plenty of seating. I like this earls because it has an outdoor patio. The downside is that they cannot accommodate big groups (bigger than 5-6) outside on the patio. So we went inside to one of the larger booths. I got a high ball - ginger and a bourbon for $3! Great price! I ordered the ribs for $7, the pepperoni pizza for $5 and the garlic fries. The pizzas are great but think of them more as personal Pan pizza sizes. The ribs were small but crispy and tasty! For the price - I can't complain. The service was great too. Our server wasn't too pushy and not inattentive. He came around every few minutes to make sure we got what we needed. My second drink was a mojito which was threat. I think that ended up being around $7. I highly recommend the happy hour! read more

Had lunch here twice with clients and this place never disappointed me. I had their Albino Rhino Wheat which was dee-lish. Burgers are great, chicken salad was super fresh and so was their seafood. Well I finally came out from the COVID eating-out Famine and sat on the Patio with my daughter. 4 other tables were seated AFTER we arrived, all getting menus and water. We sat, and sat and sat and sat. Finally Water arrived and no menu. Drinks could not be ordered till we had a our drink menu. Long story short, our server was in LALA land or hiding. The other server was doing her job, walking around, serving people at least 4 trips to our 1. The other people had drinks and then even appies before she even took our order. Finally I flagged and asked if we could order. Then we waited over 30 minutes and no food....I again flagged her down and asked if our food was coming anytime soon?? "oh yeah its coming now" She must have forgotten because 2 minutes later she brought our food. Considering businesses have struggled during this Covid time, and she had only 4 tables to serve you would think it would have gone really well. I was pretty pissed off at the service.Thanks for your lack of giving a crap Ashlee...and to be honest I won't be coming back. The other thing I was shocked at was the cost. I had a salad with tofu and a beer and my bill was $25. Salad was $15!! YIKES...Lettuce with a few tiny tomatoes and pumpkin seeds...There will be a lot more closures I am sure! read more

We ate here a while ago and the food was great and so was the service, near the end of our visit we had a minor spill from the waitress, she apologized profusely over the minor incident and immediately reported her mistake to the manager. I compliment her for so easily admitting she was wrong to her superior which can sometimes be a hard thing to do. The manager came over and also apologized and they took very good care of us. One of the lamest front entrances. Felt like you're going through a side door. About 10 coasters shoved under the table to keep from wobbling. Dirty napkins under the table as well. Felt like a frat president got a job as manager and employed all his friends. Servers moved a glacial pace. Ours checked on us once. No side plates with our dry ribs and no spoons for our pasta entrees. Icing on the cake tried to charge full price for my drink special and stood their awkwardly without making conversation while we processed our cards. Just want to start by saying that unfortunately I have to give them at least one star, if I had the option I wouldn't even give them one. I've visited this place multiple 10-12 times thinking maybe this time it'll be better than the last time but nope. Every time I go there they manage to mess something up whether it's not cooking something that I've ordered properly or just not putting something in the bag when I order for pick up and then arguing with me saying that it's in the bag. But today has probably got to be the worst experience I've ever had here, I ordered some mashed potatoes(for pick up) went and got them got all the way home and realized there was hair all in it not one piece but two long pieces of hair cooked into my mashed potatoes I've never been so disgusted in my life (always check your food if you go pick up food from there) anyways definitely never going back now. read more

Had dinner with family (including toddler) at 8pm on a Friday night, walked right in with no wait. Services was excellent, had the stake dinner- was cooked exactly as we had asked. They have no kids menu but have small size portions available. My toddler had the Alfredo, was very good. Best part was the dessert. Great place for large groups as they have big tables. Stopped in there for dinner recently. Although the staff were busy as they had been slammed at an unusual time, they were friendly and worked to support each other. I had the santa Fe chicken salad with dressing on the side and it was delicious. The person I was with had the half rack of ribs and though it was delicious as well. Good atmosphere and clean. One thing to note that I was not aware of, Earls prices are different depending on location. The NW location was cheaper. Tin Palace in the Mission area has higher prices for quite a few of their items than the one on 16thave NW as well as any other non downtown locations I suspect. For example, a steak at the 16ave location is only 24$ for the 7 oz , vs. the tin palace location which is 27$. Same with some of their happy hour prices on drinks. read more

Earls has been on the top of my dining list for a long time. Paying for a very disappointing steak after complaining has put them to the sub-par level on my list. Several dining experiences that were good but just not excellent makes me consider the Keg for my always satisfying meats. read more

Sat and waited for over an hour for main courses. Drinks were left unfilled and dirty plates left in front of us. After telling our waitress, another women and a manager that we had not received our food it finally arrived. People had come and gone in the time we waited for our mains. My husband and I went to earls west hills a few days ago.The service was horrible .It doesn't look like they train their waitresses .We ordered lemonade and it tasted gross.When I complained about it ,the waitress started talking back and claimed that they fresh squeeze their lemonade and that its not minute maid lemonade.She never refilled our drinks or water.We were so turned off ,we just wanted to leave.We asked for the bill and she brought it and threw it on the table in a very inappropriate way.I was planning to complain to the management ,but I had just got news at the time that my aunt has passed away.so we had to leave.Shame on you earls for hiring people like that .I will never go there again, read more

I can't rate the food because we couldn't even get a table. If you are planning to see a show at the Jubilee, and make the unfortunate decision to eat at this Earls location, I would recommend that you arrive at 4pm. You know, senior citizen time dining. I was with a group of 4 and arrived around 5:15pm (No they DO NOT take reservations for small parties), our show started at 7:30pm. The hostess told us that we were to wait 30min. Okay that's fine. Then 30 min pass, 5:45pm, we check with the hostess again, she tells us that she is sorry because no one is leaving it will be an ADDITIONAL 30 minutes. This is ridiculous with the line up of other people behind us, we had no time to wait. So my advice to people who have plans to see a show, esp at the Jubilee. Avoid avoid avoid this place like the plague. Unless you can make a reservation there. The menu looked alright, too bad I couldn't try the food :( read more

Great hamburgers but avoid the fish and chips. The bigger and better burger is outstanding! Great fries! Very good service! BUT avoid the fish and chips. I was served 3 tiny pieces of tasteless cod (?) smothered with batter- there was more batter than cod! Perhaps the cod had been on a diet ; ) No, really these were the leftover bits of fish. Fish and chips MUST be served with 1or 2 fist sized pieces of fish that flake apart. The stringy bits I was served were thinner than my fork. So this is why Earl's doesn't get the 4- 4.5 stars I would expect to rate it. read more

Have to say was disappointed. Usually I get great service at earls. We went in, were seated quickly and then sat for 5 mins while our server walked by serval times. Helped tables beside us and not one time acknowledged us to let us know she'd be right with us. We were in a bit of a rush so we just moved to the bar where the bartender attended to us quickly and managed to get us in and out in the time we need. Perhaps hiring skilled servers over "the pretty" ones is something that should be looked at a little more closely. I'm a server myself and manage much larger sections then the sections allotted at Earls and it wasn't even busy. read more

I went to this location and had the californian pesto shrimp pizza. It was delicious! Too bad I found somebody's LONG BLACK HAIR in the cheese after I had already eaten half. I'm dutch and have curly blond hairs so it wasnt mine. read more
