I have been to this Earls a few times and have always enjoyed the service and food. My go to here is usually. Chicken Hunan Kung Pao Ginger soy sauce, wok fried vegetables and noodles, peanuts. Customize by adding 1-6 hunan peppers Thai Chicken Curry Bowl Coconut curry, Thai marinated chicken, mushrooms, steamed jasmine rice, crispy onions Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl Jasmine rice, soy marinated ahi tuna, avocado, cucumber, radish, mango, macadamia nuts I have sampled other dishes other times. Have never been disappointed especially if it was a recommendation by the waitress. I like its openness like most Earls and clean lines. Parking is a breeze and service is never tardy or late. We called this place in advance to ask whether their patio was dog friendly, and the host said YES without hesitation. So we headed there to celebrate a big life event of ours and I was carrying our puppy in his carrier in which he was completely visible to the front door host and the host taking us to our table, 5 minutes in when we were ready to order, the manager came to our table and asked if our pup is a service animal! And asked us to leave saying that he can get in big trouble because of this! not even offering a take out or anything that had a hint of them being actually sorry that one of their hosts has mislead us and non of the waiters there told us that we cannot bring our puppy in before we were seated even though the carrier was big enough for anyone to spot that there is a dog inside! Out of respect for the policies there, the first thing I did was to take the pup into the car and went back in to talk to the manager to see what is his resolution for causing us a ruined night and a great deal of embarrassment, all he said was I'm sorry, and clearly not even meaning it! The least thing a manager can do in this situation where one of his employees has ruined a night for a customer is to offer some token of respect and apology by offering a take out or even a gift card! Came here for my daughter's birthday. One of her favourite places. Food was great. Clam chowder was tasty. Fish n chips was not greasy. Penne was good. Chicken fingers was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Steak was a little dry but not bad. Over $100 for our little family of 4 and I didn't even order alcohol. We went to earls for happy hour and I am very impressed. The prices were great and the food was even better. It came relatively fast and was still hot. The indoor interior was beautifully decorated and the outdoor patio is amazing for being in a parking lot. The only reason I am giving them 4 stars is because the server. I have been eating at Earl's for years now. Their food is really good, however yesterday was the first time getting food from this location. I got a salad i usually get, Quinoa and avocado powerbowl. Every time i've gotten this bowl, I enjoy it very much; however yesterday was my first time coming to this location and their squash was super soggy. I got takeout so it was in a separate bowl. The service is what you typically expect at a western restaurant. The food is not outstanding. We went here three times in the past two month due to my family received a big gift card for this place. The steak is small and lacking taste, so you can tell this place is pricey. I find better steak at the keg or any steak house. The zen bowl is also just soso, they did not use sushi rice and the bowl is really lacking taste. The chicken and ribs combo is very good though, and its good portion. The taco is not bad, and the spinach dip is flavourful. However. the happy hour between 3-5pm is worth it. Horrible service that ruined an impromptu dinner out. Waited 20 minutes after being seated before ANYONE came to the table (probably only 10% full at the time). Server #1 was clueless to the wait time and dismissive. Her comment after we told her no has seen us yet: "oh that's ok." Really? Ah actually no it's not ok. Server #2 that brought appie had a bad attitude, saying nothing to us and doing minimal effort ... Get more love from a vending machine. Food was ok. After the start to the evening, the food had a big hill to climb. Didn't quite make it. And to top it off, Server #2 brought the bill after clearing DINNER plates. Didn't ask how it was. Didn't offer coffee. Didn't ask if we wanted dessert. Even had the debit machine out as she was dropping off bill. I guess we weren't welcome. We'll never be back to Earls Westhills. Like, ever. I don't know when Earls became a place to take your kids...it was a complete gong show on Sunday night. I usually end up sitting in the lounge or patio because it's faster and there are NO kids! Not the case this weekend. We were surrounded by large groups...one with a screaming toddler, another with a crying baby, and another couple that let their baby walk without supervision around our table and breakables around the outdoor fireplace. There were dirty looks galore...and not just from my table. Now I get it that it's a long weekend and people want to go out to eat as a family...personally, I think there should be some segregation between the restaurant and lounge/patio. If you're going to take your kids out...then you need to watch them! Be aware of other people who want to enjoy their evenings as well - some may have left their kids at home and were looking forward to a night without screaming and crying. Well Earls. We've never been good buds. I don't mind Earls for an easy vegetarian meal. They put a mushroom sammy on the menu that I thought may rule - greasy bread. You can't expect much from glorified fast food however, This location needs a good power scrub and that's about all I can recommend. The lounge and restaurant are very nice. I was here with a few friends and all I ordered was a glass of wine. Two of them shared the Chocolate Sticky Toffee Pudding. I picked at the chewy toffee shell that held the ice cream. The desert presentation is beautiful and the toffee shell was pretty good, but I don't think it's worth $8. The quirky part about this experience is that our server was too lazy to walk around us. Instead, she kept waving her hand at my friends to pass their glasses so she could either top up their water or wine. I was fine because I sat at the edge of the table but she irritated my friends. Although the décor is rather dated at this Earl's, the food is consistently good and the service is generally very good. They obviously spend a lot of time training their younger wait staff, as it's hard to find that kind of service from a younger staff here in Calgary. We've been nearly two decade customers of Earls Westhills...we are regulars who have witnessed a few remodels and staff changes over the years. Prior to the last remodel, the food was always predictably consistent and really good. We've noticed in the last year the quality and presentation of the food is loosing steam. Last night my husband and I ordered the Kale and Santa Fe salads. My salad had way too much poorly washed, gritty kale in it. There was exactly ONE brussel sprout in the salad and there were just a few cold potato crumbles in the dry and barely dressed kale. My dinner companion's Santa Fe salad was a far cry from the beautifully presented eye catching Santa Fe salad of a few years ago. A huge plate of gritty kale with barely any accompaniments and almost no dressing is a big disappointment. We are big fans of the weekend biscuits...but for some reason they are not being baked til golden brown anymore...they are pale, under done and doughy. The beautiful and delicious golden biscuits that we came for nearly every weekend are easy to skip right now. Please bring back the rectangular platter you originally served the kale salad on with less kale that is well cleaned and loaded with brussel sprouts, potatoes and well dressed with browned butter dressing. I hope Earls can regain presenting quality food with more eye pleasing detail. It was disappointing to enjoy our appetizer and dessert but feel let down with our main courses. read more

Went here for the first time today. Not sure if it's new, or newly renovated, but the interior certainly sets it apart from other Earl's locations. Food was good, nothing crazy, but I was really impressed by the patio section. It transports you to an totally different place. Nice location. Went on Sunday for brunch. Food and drinks came out in adequate timing. Our server was super friendly and caring and appreciative. Funny how they were playing a re run flames game from previous night. Then it took several servers to try and figure out how to change the channels to Sunday football. Other than that. I am a vegan and was amazed and thankful that I could actually have a menu item that worked for me which was not fries...or a green salad or pizza without the cheese!! I looked for the V symbol on the menu and there were a handful...and then asked about fish sauce or chicken broth in items. I was told that they had just stopped using chicken broth and replaced it with veggie broth so I ordered the Hunan Kung Pao.... DELISH!!! Thank you Earl's!!! In recent years, we've had a few marginal dining experiences at various Earls locations so we've been staying away but this location turned out to be great. Lunch at Earl's Westhills was not the best experience. The greeter was friendly - we asked for the bar as dining room is noisy but bar area was just as noisy. They just pointed and we sat ourselves which was fine. The waitress came immediately and asked what we wanted to order. We had barely sat down! Finally when we were ready she was no where to be seen. She continued to be completely disengaged and uninterested. We asked another person who was one of the managers apparently and she took our order. Food was okay - not bad but certainly not that interesting and really chain style food. It was more the lack of service that will prevent me from returning. We waited for 10 minutes to finally ask for coffee but she didn't offer dessert (the sign of good wait staff - even just to know what is tempting...) and again 15 minutes for our bill. Went here for dinner and it was just okay. I ordered the Spicy Seafood pasta and it was a bit dry and with few prawns and scallops in it (they were small scallops, too). Whenever my wife and i go out for a meal, we will usually end up at Earls. Great food and excellent service. I always have the Hunan Kung Pao. It is excellent. This is a nice Earl's location with a covered "atrium" that gives the feel of being on a nice outdoor patio, while being inside. I had a drink and clam chowder only, but like pretty much every Earl's I got a consistent service and food quality. Good spot for lunch or a casual dinner. read more

We're new to the city and decided to venture out into our neighbourhood. We decided on Earls and looooved it. The Caesars are hands down the best we've had! It's definitely one of the better earls in calgary. But then again, earls is earls. The dynamite roll was a weird temperature and same with the spinach and artichoke dip. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Went here for dinner as a party of 6 (with friends from the UK on the last night of their very first visit to Canada). Our server had significant problems putting her job over socializing. After an already long wait to be seated (30 min), we soon found out she liked to spend long (5-10min at a time) periods chatting with a family nearby whose leftovers had already been packed up. We waited over 20 minutes for our order to be taken, at which point we flagged down a hostess who grabbed another server who took our orders and passed them on to our server when she finally took a break to check the water station (hadn't even checked any tables at this point). Our food arrived in a normal amount of time and was fine as usual, but our server was still chatting away to that one table when we needed salt, etc. She did stop by briefly to refill drinks, but the total amount of time we spent being helped was less than 3 minutes over a nearly 2 hour meal. It was also difficult getting our bill and waiting to pay by card, as she was always back with that family chatting about dentistry, wine, etc. Our visit was made worse by the fact that our experience visiting with friends really only consisted of trying to see when we could get our server's attention and when she might actually check her tables and apologizing to our friends for recommending such a terrible restaurant. We also noticed that her other customers were looking neglected and frustrated and they too tried to pay their bills, order food, etc. Tried to find a manager before leaving, but couldn't find one anywhere and didn't want to ask our server. So, we emailed a complaint through their website, was told 'we are sorry you were so disappointed' and that the restaurant's manager would follow up 'soon'. Waited two weeks after that before emailing back to say the manager had never bothered to follow up, and got a message on the answering machine saying there was no excuse for his delay and he'd love to chat. Called back the next day, manager wasn't there so asked the girl to have him call me on my cell instead (since I was willing to take time out of my busy workday to take his call) and she said he would the next day. Well, it's been THREE WEEKS again. It's not my job to chase up the manager after trying multiple times after an abysmal experience. I can say my family and our guests will most definitely not be dining at Earls again, and we have already had the opportunity to discourage other friends and family who were thinking of going. The staff think they're doing a favour by giving you ten seconds' attention and the manager is useless and isn't interested in resolving issues. On a side note, this is a big reason why their new tipping idea shouldn't spread to other restaurants - they say if you get terrible service to speak to the manager and you shouldn't pay for your meal, let alone tip, but when managers don't care about customers and never once hinted that they would apologize, let alone refund our 6 person meal, boy are we glad we were able to leave a lower tip to at least express our dissatisfaction to the server. read more
