I had already agreed to the cleaning cost when I dropped the instrument off. After waiting 16 days and hearing nothing from Music & Arts, I called them. The employee I spoke with claimed that they had made multiple attempts to contact me with a repair estimate for me to approve. When I later spoke directly to the repair technician, he admitted only having called once, 10 days earlier. There was no message left. The employee I originally spoke with said that my voicemail box must have been full. It clearly was not. To top it off, there was no estimate given other than the original cleaning cost, which I had already agreed to when I dropped off the instrument. I was now told that it would take still an additional week to do the cleaning and repair, neither which had been started after 16 days. I had no confidence in this time estimate. I drove to the store and retrieved my instrument, which had not been worked on at all. After I returned home from picking up my instrument, the service technician texted me a screenshot of his computer application "proving" that he had left a message for me with an estimate, 10 days before I had retrieved the unserviced instrument. I replied to his text with a screenshot of Verizon's call records for my phone, showing no calls had come from either him or Music & Arts ever since I first brought the instrument to be serviced. Despite Verizon's documented call records, the technician still continued to insist that he had left a message with an estimate and was waiting for me to return his call (which he never made). And that is supposedly why he had not done any work on the instrument. What a waste of my time.

My bandmate's Gibson acoustic/electric wasn't staying in tune and we feared it was a big problem which would require megabucks to fix, but Chuck took a look at it and quickly diagnosed that the solution was simple: We could wind the strings differently so they wouldn't slip as much. How awesome is that? Anyone else would have charged us for a big ol' neck adjustment. Chuck's shop is 3 steps away from the corner of Broad and Main in Middletown (about 30 mins from downtown Wilmington-- easy) and is both a guitar shop and a guitar repair place. He's got electric and acoustic guitars, basses, ukeleles, student guitars, amps, pedals, strings, etc. Best of all, he's got freakin' *knowledge* and *experience.* He's a hell of a guitar player himself, and he is super-meticulous when it comes to repairs. Doug, our guide has been working at PRS for 31 years. A wealth of knowledge and so welcoming. To see every area of this factory was incredible. The wood, the machinery, the technicians and artistry that goes into guitar making. I play guitar and was just fascinating to see it all. My daughter, doesn't play guitar but loved the tour. I would say we were there about 2 hours and of course, purchased items at the store. This was well worth it and I highly recommend the tour. I would go and take the tour again it was so enjoyable. This is the only guitar store in the DC/VA/MD area that carries more than just a sampling of Mooer pedals which are just beginning to gain high respect amongst musicians. Try out the Preamp Live pedal to see what I mean. Their selection of high quality guitar straps is also about the best I've seen anywhere other than in Nashville guitar stores. They seem to carry the full line up of Levy's straps as well as other brands of similar quality. I was also really impressed with their selection of high end guitar picks. If you're looking for a used guitars they have a wide range to choose from whether you are a beginner or a working musician. If you're shopping for a beginners guitar ask one of their employees for advice on what they would buy given a fixed budget.
