On 3/27/26 in the morning (around 9:00 AM), a few coworkers from my office picked up a food order from Spence's Bazaar on my behalf. I ordered a scrapple, egg, and cheese sandwich. When I received it, there was no egg on it at all, even though I specifically ordered and paid for it. Because the order was picked up by others, I didn't have the chance to check it before it left the market. By the time I discovered the mistake, returning wasn't possible. I liked this place. Obviously a lot of locals did too. There's fresh hot food inside made by the Amish community. I had a pretzel with cheese sauce and some little smokies wrapped in dough. They were so good. I wish I got more of the smokies... so tasty. I didn't want to wait in the long line for the breakfast sandwiches. Apparently they were pretty popular. Freshly made. I went crazy buying baked goods. Walnut brownies, sticky buns, lemon bars and wooopie pies! So. Very. Good. Oh, I also got a slice of the coconut walnut cake. Yum! The prices weren't great, I felt like it was a bit pricey for the baked goods, but that didn't stop me from buying them The candy store had fun candy. Some nostalgic candy as well as fudge, chocolate, and even chocolate covered bacon ! The pretzels and smokies and breakfast "roll ups" were reasonably priced. I liked watching the ladies make them from scratch. I saw a bunch of "yard sale" items outside and found things that I liked, but I was told that I couldn't buy anything because it was all up for auction. I found some things that I liked, but it was hot and it took quite a while for the auction to move along so I didn't stick around . There were items for sale inside the building and on the outside. I found a bucket hat for my baby grandson and some toys for my other grandkids in the new item sales area. There are used and new items for sale inside. It's worth taking a look. There's a woman (Carolyn?) who makes leather earrings and handmade bucket hats. Don't leave without checking out her items. She does a great job. This is a great place to visit if you have some time to kill. read more

Tables are crowded in with a bunch of junk. People were pushing you to buy their stuff. We walked around and left within minutes.

They always have the best stuff and the best prices! Everyone is nice and helpful. Definitely something for everyone. There's auctions on Tuesday and Friday. Saturdays is just flea markets and is open rain or shine. They have a huge indoor area and plenty of tables outside. There's also a huge amish deli and food market. read more

This is a Charming little place. They have fantastic meats and pastries and cute little counters where you can get either hot or cold food. Everyone is so nice and helpful and prices are reasonable. We opted for two breakfast sandwiches without the bun. I chose the chicken sausage with peppers and onions and my husband chose the chicken sausage with spinach and feta. I would say that the sausage with peppers and onions was well-balanced and extremely generous with the size. I wouldn't be surprised if the Sausage Patty was a third of a pound. My husband sausage was very tasty as well however I couldn't taste the feta. Still I would definitely encourage you to give it a try. I appreciate the fact that I can get good food here that isn't pumped full of a whole bunch of chemicals. It definitely gives me peace of mind putting dinner on the table and knowing that my family is eating healthy. Spence's Bazaar was interesting. There were things of interest to someone who just likes to look through stuff. Some new, some old, some antiques, some knockoffs. There were outside vendors. Picked up a few things. There weren't many vendors when we went. We went in a nice, not hot day in August. We really enjoyed the Amish Market that was next door. Spence's is a great farmers market to stop by when they're open! I went looking for shoo fly pie and did find one. Not the best I've had but still good. An interesting adventure! There are three parts to this location: indoor farmers market, indoor antiques and flea market, and outdoor flea market. The indoor farmers market is the best part. There are all kinds of Amish-made goodies; cheeses, butter, meats, candy, spices, pretzels, donuts, breads, pastries, you name it. My only regret is that I didn't have enough room in my stomach to try more! The breakfast sandwich was quite tasty, as was the pecan sticky bun and cinnamon cider donut. The outdoor market was expansive but the only thing of interest I found were the occasional booths from local farmers with offerings like fresh locally grown peaches, melons, corn, squashes, string beans, etc. You might find a bargain here or there on a knick knack or used DVD or something, but it's nothing worth getting excited about. As for the indoor flea market, they have everything from antiques to Yu-Gi-Oh! cards. It's an interesting treasure trove of offerings that could be worth an afternoon of browsing, but it's pretty musty in there. All in all, I think it's worth a stop if only to explore and eat at the Amish market. read more

I read many great reviews of this place so we decided to take A 90 minute ride to check it out. It was utterly disgusting. The bazaar section was dark and dank. Crowded and hard to navigate , we quickly left. We made it over to the farmers market and found it equally as disgusting. Filthy floors, crowded and hard to navigate. We took one turn around the floor and left. Not sure how this place received so many top reviews, unless they were from vendors, but don't believe the hype. read more

OMG.....bring your wallet. Make sure you bring cash in case the credit card machines are down. Everything looks delicious. We bought Pickles, meat, cheese, smoothies, donuts, cheesecake, granola, pineapple upside down pie, macarons, long Johns, pimento cheese and a pecan sticky bun. The food looked delicious. This is a pretty cool place to stop and visit while in Delaware. You can find food items, baked goods, coffee, preserves, etc. The other side of the bazaar has rummage sale type of items. People set up their sections and either sell clothing (new and used), house items (furniture, decor), etc. You can definitely find some rare finds. If you are not from the area, you will notice that many of the vendors are Amish or Mennonites and they are wearing traditional outfits which ia pretty cool as it is not something you see on the west coast often. I suggest to not point and stare as this is not meant to make anyone feel uncomfortable. If you are curious, it is usually ok to ask as long as you are doing it in a respectful way. Keep in mind, no one wants to feel like they are part of a zoo or freak show. A must try, the stuffed pretzel vendors. The stuffed pretzels are very very good. The skim off every lot plus commission. Worst buyers on east coast. The auction is so low class there are only bottom feeders left. The auction house sells its stuff first. Spence's is what it is... a flea market. The garage sale, flea market, auction business seems to be the #1 industry in Dover. There must be more people that derive their primary income from this source, per-capita, than any other place in the US. The competition is fierce. It could be a Friday morning, and you'll drive past 3 garage sales on your way to Spence's. The 4 stars are for the Amish market. It's totally no-frills inside, but they have the best meat in town, hand's down. I also had a serious whoopie pie habit, until I gained 20lbs, and sadly, had to cut them out of the diet. (Cold Turkey) The deli is great also. Try the sweet and sour salad. My wife and I call it Amish Crack! read more

Spence's is great and is truly a pivotal melting pot of american culture and capitalism (don't beleve - Joe Lieberman visited during his presidential campaign). The Amish market inside is often an overlooked point of interest in Spence's. Back when I lived in Dover there was the infamous combo bag of 10 steaks for $20. If you scouted it out just right you could get a really wonderful mix of strip streaks, fillets and ribeyes. Not sure if he is still there, but there was a self-proclaimed "Spice Guy" outside who sold .... wait for it .... spices at bargain prices. The only thing that I didn't like about Spence's was the Pizza Shop. It seemed out of place and the Amish Market had superior lunch (mmmmhhh, chicken wings). That said, I would return to the pizza shop post 5 pm where you could get an entire large pizza for $5. read more

The various vendors to come to ply their wares are interesting in their own right, and it's fun to simply wander around and peruse the selection of gadgets, movies, swords, antique jewelery, and bargain makeup. There is also an auction, a barber, a Farmer's/Amish market, and a pizza place. Spence's is only open Tuesday and Friday morning, I believe so you have to be a morning person to get to go (which I am not sadly so I rarely make it over there). I had high hopes. Don't know why. It was talked up by at least two locals. I agree the Amish farmer's market is the better of the two parts. That being said, the eating areas are FILTHY. Like, health code violations passed decades ago. Nearing condemnation levels. I know the structure is a barn but I don't actually want to sit and eat in a place that looks and smells like a barn too. Also, later in the day, like even past noon on a Saturday, the better baked goods are gone (cinnamon sugar donuts, I'm talking to you). The Bazaar/flea market is 99% trash. Not even junk, straight up trash. One vendor has makeup of dubious origins, which is nice and cheap (and unopened) if you don't care where it came from or how it got there. There was also one table of decent looking jewelry with semiprecious stones. Don't know what the hell he was doing there but it was nice to see and something I'd go back for. read more

Try the turkey chili, Great flavor with nice blend of ingredients.Lines can be long but move pretty quickly.

I absolutely love all the eats and treats they have here! The only downside is that most of the vendors are all cash. very rarely do I carry cash. But I love their donuts and they have delicious pizza pretzels! They even have chocolate covered bacon. How could I forget about their delicious ice cream! We came here on a weekend when it was pretty chilly so there wasn't much to look at outside. Not many vendors out and what we saw were CDs, DVDs, hats, leggings, incense, perfume, & phone accessories. What really blew my mind was the bakery inside. There was an Amish assortment of every kind of cake, bread, muffin, pie, do it, anything else you can imagine. They had fresh meat of every kind, ice cream, fresh chicken and sides, nuts, fudge, candies, and homemade jelly and jams. This was worth the trip alone! read more
