Exterior of EAK Ramen with a small menu out front

Great tasting ramen for a decent price. Served in a cup instead of a bowl. I was expecting a bowl to be served simply because of the way the menu portrayed it. Plus given that this mall is more upscale, serving in a cup doesn't suit it. Felt like I wasn't given enough meat or noodles because everything was smushed into a small cup. I would eat here again, but I would definitely select add more meat and noodles. I have nothing to say about the service. I ordered through a touch screen tablet, and never once interacted with a person. And honestly, that's not bad in my book! Sometimes not having to deal with people is great. The atmosphere is very cute, aesthetic, and cozy! Parking at this mall can be a hassle at times. Went during a weekend and weekday twice and both times it was very busy.

We needed a place to grab quick lunch on Saturday noon, so decided to try out this newly opened restaurant in GSP. The store is next to Macy's watch section entrance. It is mainly self served. You have to put in your order at register and then pick it up when order number is called. They have a huge dining area, with regular/high chairs and tables. We ordered the takoyaki, karaage, shrimp bao, curry over rice with chicken and EAK Shoyu ramen. Impressively, the whole order was ready in couple of minutes. I loved the taste of all the items., especially takoyaki and kareage chicken. Shrimp in the bao was good but needed some sauce. Ramen's broth was tasty. Noodles were good. Overall I was really pleased with the food quality and the experience, being self-served, didn't require paying additional 15%-20% as tip.

EAK ramen is located on first level of Garden state plaza. It has open concept, spacious seating, clean and organized. Self service to order and pick up the food. We had signature ramen, curry with rice (a little spicy), karage and shrimp bao. The egg was add on to my ramen. It was good. Ramen broth was rich. Very flavorful. Ramen itself had good texture. Karage was very good. Crispy skin and tender inside. The staff were very friendly and helpful. You need a key for the bathroom because non-customers could walk in. The only thing I would suggest is use actual bowls, plates and utensils. The plastics make food unappealing.

I came here on a Sunday evening after movie because my daughter and I were craving ramen. I've had ramen at three different locations at the garden State plaza and this was my third. Out of the three places this would be the least desirable. It doesn't mean that it's not good. It's just not as flavorful as the other ramen. I got the chicken ramen and it was very meh. I mean ramen is kind of like sex, how bad could it really be. So while it was tasty, it didn't wow me in any way. I would much prefer to go to the other two ramen locations in this mall. The waitress was very nice and attentive and the food came out within 5 to 10 minutes. My daughter also does not like all the fixings in her ramen so I typically ask them to put it on the side and they did that without a problem. The ambiance is pretty cool and it's an open seating meaning you can look out at the mall while you eat. I like two people watch so this was a plus for me. I'm not sure if I would return to this ramen spot as there is some stiff competition at this mall.

This ramen place is newly opened and I give it a try today for my 1st meal "BRUNCH" the staff is attentive and nice, the service is fast. the dining area is neat and clean. But i was disappointed when I got my ramen it was served in a disposable container then when I tried the broth is very rich in flavor but so much oil/grease every sip of soup broth you can taste the oiliness and the only vegetable in EAK ramen is fresh chopped onions and spinach. And the noodles that they used i am not sure if it is commercial noodle or housemade but I usually taste that noodle in a Chinese stir fried noodle. I am a fan of ramen and a lot of ramen place around fort lee and palisades park is way better and even the food court in Mitsuwa edgewater. Overall let's give them a few more months hopefully they will improve the ramen .

    Menu

Food was just ok. Parts of my Ramen were not cooked thoroughly. Service was non existent. Had to ask staff for water refill. But the space where it's located was clean and spacious. Would I come back? Not at this location but probably the one in the city.

It suppose to be Fried shrimp. But I got disgusted shrimp in oil!

Worst Ramen I ever had! What a Wast of money! Raman is bad. Fired shrimp has so much oil. Check my picture. So sad!

Good ramen, broths are solid. Great karaaage (fried chicken), good addition to the mix at GSP.

Speaking of the food, let's get into it. Mango Avocado Roll: Refreshing and Delicious. This was a great appetizer to my poke bowl. Oasis Poke Bowl: This was deliciously refreshing as well, however it doesn't come with any sauce. I asked for a side of teriyaki which made everything better; elevated the entire bowl. Surf N Turf: I will order this moving forward as my go-to roll. The beef was cooked to perfection and paired perfectly with the salmon. This roll itself filled me up, I thought I was going to order something else but I was done after that. Salmon and Shrimp Teriyaki: My partner gets this each time and I am always so excited to throw my fork into his plate. The teriyaki sauce here is so tasty, I want to put it on everything! The salmon and shrimp are also cooked super well, no chewiness here. Great amount of crisp on the salmon, the way it slides onto the fork is beautiful to watch. Vegetable Gyoza: The star of the show!! Best appetizer they have truly. I was so sad when there was no more. But thankful to have been able to experience such a great starter. Sweet Potato Roll: (Not pictured) The roll was ok, I liked it but felt like it was missing something. Maybe I would have liked it if it was Korean sweet potatoes. I won't order again because the menu is so extensive I can't limit myself to something I thought was ok. (4/5) Overall, Shokudo is a fantastic place to eat. It's truly an experience. The music is amazing and not overbearing, the ambiance is beautiful and there's multiple conversation pieces. What I love about looking at the items in the restaurant is how they go from traditional to contemporary. The servers were the sweetest, they all were extremely hospitable. All I can say is, I'll be back and if you go... you may see me there.

When the combo came out, it still had the spicy tuna roll. We sent it back, and the waiter returned to tell us that it would actually be an additional $2.00 because we changed it to a regular tuna roll. Not wanting to argue, I just said "OK," but I definitely wasn't happy. I also ordered the chicken teriyaki, which was rubbery and didn't taste like any teriyaki I'm used to. Our appetizer never came, and when we asked about it, all the waiter could do was apologize. At that point, that was all they could offer.

For lunch, I tried the shoyu ramen with a soft boiled egg and side of spicy oil. The broth was light and flavorful. The chashu was very tender and seared nicely. The shoyu came with straight noodles instead of wavy, but it was still good. The bowl had menma, as well as red and green onions. I enjoyed the bowl so much, we went back for dinner the same day. For dinner, I tried the shio ramen, which was basically the same thing, but with a sea salt tare instead of soy sauce. I also got wavy noodles this time and I definitely prefer the wavy noodles. Once again, it came with red and green onion, which i think is a bit overpowering. I would get just green onion next time. The family/couple sets seem to be a great deal. I would definitely return.

Not only is the food awesome - I ordered a ramen, plain hot dog, and halo-halo shaved ice (addictively good) - but bonus stars to the staff who were sooo sweet! The Hawaiian style shaved ice and home-made ice cream are top notch. The ice cream is rich and delicious, with some unique flavors, and the shaved ice is very fine - fluffy and evenly slushy in texture and sweetness, unlike the inferior versions where you run into bland chips of ice. The toppings are yum too. The ramen noodles are springy, settled in a savory light broth. For a non-prestige grade ramen, I have no complaints. I also want to acknowledge the lovely hospitality. My child was in a tantrum-y mood and went to sulk by himself in a corner. Seeing the pouty little grump in a small fit, the girls at the counter coaxed him over with ice cream and stickers, which he of course eagerly accepted, pleased by the attention and confection, and was soon back to his endearing self. So I really appreciated their extra kindness! This is a fab joint for a quick-casual or just a perfect sweet treat!
