While Scott was friendly and provided a fair estimate, the project turned into a disaster. After paying for materials, we waited far beyond the promised timeline. Excuses ranged from personal issues to delays caused by Hurricane Beryl, but communication was inconsistent at best. When Scott's "crew" finally arrived, they clearly lacked the skills needed for the job, using a tree branch for measurements and leaving posts improperly set. Scott promised to waive the labor portion of the bill due to the delays but never followed through. Months later, after more excuses and no progress, he said he could be out the following week to finish the job--if we paid the labor cost he had previously agreed to waive. By that point, we had already hired another contractor to tear out the poorly installed posts and complete the fence in a single day. Additionally, Scott failed to pay his workers, who later came to our home asking for payment. While Scott may be personable, his work is unprofessional, unreliable, and unacceptable. There are multiple nails and screws visibly protruding from the fence, which I brought to the contractor's attention. I also have concerns about the overall construction and finishing of the fence. I contacted the contractor several times about these issues, and they said they would come out to make the necessary repairs, but they never did. I understand that wood fencing can have some natural variation, but I expected the installation to be properly finished and the contractor to stand behind their work when concerns were raised. Based on my experience, I would recommend carefully inspecting the completed work and confirming how the contractor handles warranty or repair issues before hiring them.

Her neighbor decided to replace a fence that was mostly destroyed by Hurricane Beryl. They tore down the fence between the 2 houses, and went on to her property and illegally tore down the front of her fence (which only needed a gate) in addition to the one between them. None of this was discussed with her. The owner (Keith) told me that the neighbor was paying for it (which he did), but this was still done without discussing it with my mother. Since they were already working on the neighbors fence, I told them to go ahead and replace a 40 ft section of her fence in the very back of her yard, which they did. The fences turned out pretty well, but the gate is another story. It started sagging within 3 weeks, due to shoddy workmanship. First of all, the gate was very heavy, and should have had 3 hinges put on it, they put 2 on. Second, one of the posts supporting the gate was split in 2 or 3 places (one was at the top where they nailed a 2x4 to it (and left a big gap on top of that). Third, there was a noticeable gap between the top and bottom of the gate itself (due to sagging), and fourth, they left off one of the internal braces from the gate. Needless to say, the gate won't shut without lifting it in order to close it. I contacted Keith about this, and he said that he would come over to fix it, but never showed and it's been at least a week. I contacted him once more and sent him photos and a video of the issue, and received no response. In addition to the gate issue, when they built the fence, they dug up the old fence posts, and installed new ones the day after it rained for 2 days, and absolutely obliterated a good portion of my mothers yard. They built the neighbors fence from her side, They also left wood scraps, concrete chunks and other trash all over the area, which would have destroyed my lawnmower if I wouldn't have caught it. I will never do business with this company again, nor recommend them to anyone. Also, their price was quite a bit higher that a lot of the other fence companies in the area for the same type of fence. They charged the neighbor $32 per foot, and did the section of my mother's back fence for $25 per ft (which is what I offered and told him to take it or leave it, and he took it) which is more in line with industry pricing for this type of fence.

We gave them a call to bid on a fence job for us. We got a call back from the owner, Keith. Keith came over and gave us an estimate on removing a chain link fence and reusing the materials that could be reused to go across our newly purchased property. Also to construct a new fence in the front of the property. The work was scheduled and completed in a reasonable time. We didn't get any other bids because Keith's bid seemed all right and we felt we could work with him. Overall it was a good experience and we are happy with their work. Keith and his employees respected our property, cleaned up after themselves, and like I said completed the work as scheduled.

While most of the fence is good, there are many brand new pickets that are split and the quality of the workmanship on the gate is far from acceptable. (I'll try to add a photo of the gate after this review). Multiple emails, text messages, phone calls to Lonestar Fence and Construction over multiple weeks have been ignored. A final walkthrough has not been performed. When they finished construction, one of the partners went through our neighbor's yard to jump the fence and find me in the backyard. I knew they were coming by that same day of completion to collect but never furnished a time. My comments about the quality of the workmanship to one of the partners were ignored.

He replaced the battery at a cost of approximately $300. The very next day, the gate stopped working again. He came the next day and conveniently claimed that the main control board had been damaged by a power surge and told me it needed to be replaced at an additional cost of about $750. To make matters worse, he failed to arrive at the the time I was given. As a result, he left without programming the remote control and the keypad. Later, I was told that, for legal reasons, he was not authorized to perform the programming. At no point before the appointment was I informed of this restriction. Had I been told in advance, I would have made sure someone was present. This entire experience has been extremely frustrating. I have paid significant amounts of money, and the communication and customer service have been unacceptable.
