GOOD TEXAS STYLE SMOKED BAR-B-QUE By far the best meal we had in Copper this season was at this new restaurant by a former Austinite. The pulled pork was some of the tastiest I've had in years (see pic). The on-site smoked brisket is sliced in long slabs (unfortunately it's so popular they ran out before we ate about 7PM). The sauce is a hearty traditional served on the side and not slathered on the meat. SMART CAFETERIA STYLE LAYOUT moves diners quickly and fountain drinks are unlimited. Eagle is also a sports restaurant with big screen TVs on every wall and a separate full service bar with some local brews on tap. AND ONLY A FEW BBQ SNOB COMPLAINTS: The sausage has no char and doesn't seem to be smoked. Oddly sliced turkey is on the menu but no smoked chicken option. The plates come standard with 2 slices of white bread and not their stellar corn bread. And a personal preference the mac & cheese is soupy, whereas I prefer baked with a thick cheese crust. We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon craving some wholesome BBQ. Great location in Copper. They have a bar and patio seating outdoors. We had the brisket sandwich and the smoked sweet potato sandwich. Both were delicious! The sweet potato sandwich was really an unexpected treat. For sides we tried the mac and cheese, veggies and Cole slaw. For a new place things were running smooth and the food was top notch. Nice decor inside too with a warm inviting. Update: went back again last weekend and it did not disappoint. Great hidden gem on Cooper in the heart of Center Village. We walked in for dinner last night, and were super pleased! Walked in and wasn't crazy crowded and loud like a lot of other places, when you can't even hear people talk. You walk up to the counter and the staff was very friendly- and gets your food ready quick. Great options if BBQ and traditional sides. The place smells like great BBQ, which I love. We we're able to find a table quick and chow down. They have several options of BBQ sauce for you to add. We tried them all and the hot one was our favorite! Great brisket and Mac and cheese! We arrived in Copper mountain a few hours earlier and decided to go get dinner and my husband wanted BBQ so we went there and He ordered the two meat plate and got sausage and brisket with seasoned fries, the fries were delicious and the brisket was good, the sausage was both special. I got the one meat plate and got the pulled pork and a Mac and cheese side, the pulled pork was nothing special, but was soaked in grease and the Mac and cheese was not good, the dish up some that looked like it had been sitting there for a while and the just poured more liquid cheese over top, I ended up mixing my bbq and mac'n'cheese together and added jalapeños which improved the mac'n'cheese. read more

Spacious and quick BBQ that does not disappoint. If you're hangry after shredding down the mountain this place has got great ribs and sliced brisket. Wash it all down with their 3 or 4 dollar beer specials. Definitely recommend! read more

All I should really have to say is $2 PBR. But I would be remiss if I didn't also mention that the service is consistently great - even during rush hour (lunch). I've gotten everything on the menu multiple times but recommended the brisket sandwich combo meal with their world famous fries. First off, the BBQ was just okay. The portions were good, but the brisket was completely packed full of gristle. However, I wholly regretted it 6-7 hours later, and for the rest of the weekend, I sat curled up in my hotel room vomiting profusely - food poisoning! My girlfriend and I shared the plate, and I ate the coleslaw, which must have been tainted (Coleslaw is prone to food borne illness since it isn't cooked). Not only did this completely ruin my weekend, but it wasted a lot of my cash and time as I could barely get out of bed and didn't get to board on Sunday. It turned my weekend into one of the most miserable travel experiences, ever. Note - this happened on 1/21/17. Edit. Apparently the owner of this place thinks it's impossible they poisoned someone, despite attempting to apologize to my girlfriend on the phone profusely and calling back multiple times. Well, that just shows you what kind of person runs this place. Someone who isnt willing to take responsibility, and instead will call their customer a liar just to save face online. The absurd suggestion that their kitchen is completely incapable of making a mistake is just ludicrous and shows theit incapacity to be reasonable. There is absolutely no possible way I could have eaten tainted food from anywhere besides this BBQ joint, unless Kind bars are being shipped with staph bacteria included. I was up until the following morning puking up BLACK BBQ sauce and charred brisket chunks. I tried the food here while on vacation at Copper Mtn. The BBQ won't win any competitions, but it certainly was good. I had the pulled pork BBQ sandwich, baked beans, and a sampler of brisket. The pulled pork was tasty, but was also soggy, which leads me to believe it was smoked a day or two in advance. The baked beans were excellent with a slight tomato taste, which I really liked. The brisket was good, but again seemed soggy so I assume it was not fresh out of the smoker. I'm a BBQ purist, and find the bark on both pork butt (pulled pork) and on a beef brisket to be vital for true smoked flavor and also added texture. Unfortunately neither the pulled pork nor the brisket had bark or an evident smoke ring. That said, the food here was certainly good, just not as authentic as I feel it should be. read more

The food is super great. I got the pulled pork and it was delicious. The potato salad and cornbread is a must. Ask for the potato salad in a cup, because it's a little on the runny side, and otherwise it will run all over your tray. Quick service, and the staff was more than willing to accommodate our special requests like no BBQ sauce on the pulled pork for me, and someone else in the group got Mac and cheese but it was super rich, and they were willing to trade it in for potato salad. Tip: ask for the white bread toasted. They throw it on the flat top and it makes it much more delicious. Only reason I gave it four stars was because the sodas were $3.50 each!! Delicious!!!! First time here and impressed with their food. I had the 1 meat BBQ platter with Texas Style Sliced Brisket and sides were BBQ Beans and Mayo Coleslaw. They give a generous amount of slaw, good amount of beans, and a nice amount of meat, for me. On the table, I saw Eagle Classic and Fire Sauce...both delicious. Located at the center of all the action at the base of Copper Mountain sits this gem. It is independently owned and operated separate from the mountain. The food here was fantastic and not outrageously priced, portions were large. Additionally, there are some of the cheapest on mountain beer prices I have seen in a long time. After a hard day ripping the trees and skiing some powder this place is a must for an after-day drink and a little BBQ. read more

Easily the best bbq in the County; this is definitely a great spot for lunch or dinner. Cheap drinks and they have an actual smoker outside! Our visit to Copper Mountain was as the season was winding down and a handful of resort restaurants were closed. Of what was left open, Eagle BBQ stood out as the winner. So much so that in a short trip there, I went twice. I won't count it against them that they started running out of food (it was the end of the season after all) and will say that the BBQ was decent and definitely better than I was expecting. Once inside the welcome and service from bartender Omer made us come back again and again! The bbq is blazin' but the service.....not so much. Arrived to this bbq restaurant conveniently located in Center Village @ Copper right at the base of the American Eagle lift. Spotlessly clean tables which is something I spy right away at all dining establishments. The aroma was heavenly and on those two facts alone we decided to eat there. We hopped in line and reviewed the different options on the blackboard. Most of us opted for the pulled pork sandwich and Mac n Cheese. Both were excellent. We would definitely come back. I'm not a fan of the service though-the guy that helped us at the counter could not have been less engaged. Seemed barely aware of our existence for whatever reason which was a turn off. Also-for the love of god-please don't be one of "those restaurants" with the straws. I had to ask for a straw and there were signs posted that they don't offer straws and lids. I don't like to mix politics with food and when I drink from a glass I want a straw. PERIOD. I could go on a rant here but I'll spare readers-you get the point. In summary-this is a good spot for food...worthy of four stars...the service lacks and gets two stars. read more

My group of 10 stopped in here for lunch, and spent about $250 on meals for 9 people. One of the kiddos in our group has celiacs and needed food from somewhere else. He brought his pizza inside and was almost immediately rudely confronted and asked to leave. The owner confronted him directly, even though he's only 12, and made him cry. Our group tried to ask for some understanding of our situation, especially since 9 of us had chosen to eat here, and had no desire to intentionally take business away from an independent local business. Our requests were ignored, and we were told that he would have to leave in order to eat. We won't be coming back, and it's a bummer to not be able to support one of the only independent businesses up at Copper. Otherwise, everything else was great. Due to the circumstances though, we just can't justify coming back. Just would have thought there could be some leniency for a legitimate food allergy. read more
