THERE'S NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE HERE!!!! THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! We arrived at the Phoenix Airport on 1/15/26, Thursday evening & immediately proceeded to the car rental section of the airport, to pick up our reserved car, only to find out that we had to walk a 1/2 mile, take an elevator to the ground floor (back parking lot), walk another 1/4 mile & wait with about 10 other people for a shuttle (which looked like a regular van-no name on the van). The van took us to, what appeared to be a plain bldg w/no signage but multiple cars in the parking lot. We all get off & go inside, only to be told that "THERE ARE NO KEYS TO THE 50 Cars in the parking lot"...WTH None of us (not even the driver) were notified of this situation prior to arrival...there wasn't a manager on site, so we weren't offered any resolution other than to have the driver take us back to the airport and we ALL had to do last minute reservations for cars at one of the other car rental companies! And to add insult to injury, when we notified Expedia (how the reservation was made), E-Z Rent A Car had the audacity to say that "they have a no cancellation policy", like we cancelled it...WHAT??!! HOW IS THIS COMPANY IN BUSINESS??!! Obviously, no one knows what they're doing or have a clue about customer service! We will NEVER use them again and if you know better, you WON'T either! Got to the car rental place offsite from the Jacksonville, FL airport, I was told I had to have my proof of auto insurance to rent the car. As I'd never been asked that before in 35 years of renting, I was unprepared. Fortunately, I was able to get my AAA rep on the line and provide it, otherwise I'd have to find another rental agency. When returning the car to the agency the following week, the shuttle, which comes every 30 minutes, was 30 minutes late. I, the the person who arrived long after me, had to Uber back to the airport. Only one person working the counter now at 4pm on a Wednesday during peak snowbird season. I've been waiting in line for over 45 minutes. This is seriously one of the worst car rental experiences ever. The lines at every other rental company are no more than 2-4 people. We rented from E-Z Rent A Car for a California trip through Priceline.com. When booking it seemed like a smoking hot deal for a 4 day rental for a price of $136. I was already expecting an extra charge to put on an additional driver when picking up the vehicle, but was not expecting to be told that for local renters they do NOT offer unlimited miles as Priceline.com showed on the reservation. Instead I was told that it would be an additional $20 per day for unlimited miles. Not sure if the reason was because the pickup appointment was at 6am or this is how it usually is but after getting all the papers signed it was about 6:30am when we were down at the garage where there wasn't anybody at the desk for us to get the keys. That took about another 20-25 minutes before someone showed up. When returning the vehicle, I dropped it off as soon as I returned from the trip which was around 1am in the morning. Parked the vehicle in the designated spot and walked over to the desk was was informed to go back to the vehicle and wait and he will be right with me. There was a line of people waiting for their rental pickup and only 1 customer service rep. After waiting or about 20 minutes I walked back over to the desk and he gave me the look of "damn I totally forgot about you." He then instructed me to go and write down the mileage,fuel level and leave the key inside the vehicle. At this point I was tired and just wanted to hand over the keys and be on my way. After jotting down the mileage and indicating that the fuel level was full i was finally able to leave. I get my invoice later that morning and what do you know, I get charged $150 bucks for gas since it was noted on my invoice that the vehicle was returned empty!! Luckily I had I kept the receipt when I filled the tank back up and about 30 minutes on the phone with their customer service line. I was given a dispute number and asked to email then the proof of receipt and my invoice. I got the refund but since they charged my card already it would take a few business days to get it reverse. Do not rent a car here! They will scam you on your agreement and make you pay more than you should. We rented a car here this month and the representative who helped us asked if we wanted to opt in for their gas price of $2.79/gal. She informed us this is the best gas price around town and so we took her advice and opt in for that. When we returned the car without filling the gas (we didn't fill the gas up because we initially opt in for the $2.79/gal price), I was charged on my credit card a price of $179. I called to see why I was being charged such a high amount and they said I never opted in for the $2.79/gal and they were charging me $8.99/gal! I asked the representative if there was any way she can help me, so she filed a complaint about the situation. Two days later I called in and they said they could not do it because they've already charged me and they kept saying in my contract I signed for $8.99/gal. Why the hell would anyone sign for an option to pay for $8.99/gal of gal, when they were informed us and signed for a price of $2.79/gal. They tried to relieve the situation by saying to offer me 20% off my next car rental. Really? I would never rent a car here again. Do not rent a car here! They will scam you. read more

I was worried about renting a car from here after reading the reviews. However, I did not have a bad experience while renting the car. Although, I must mention that I picked up the car on a Friday at 9:00am (which can explain the low traffic). Also, when I reached the location, there was just one agent attending one person before me, (I was next) My turn came in less than 5 mins and after reaching the counter I was done in 5 mins. Kenny was on the counter and he was friendly. He was quick in the task and handed out all the documentation in time. When I reached to pick up the car, the attendants at the desk were quick again and guided me to my car. The car was a small Ford Fiesta, in good condition, I did not have any issues with cleanliness. The car rent was pretty straight forward and I filled the gas on my own so there was no additional amount charged. Overall a good experience. read more

Rental agent was proud to tell us he was quitting that day, without notice, and that he sold a house for a million dollars, and then had to put our info into the computer THREE TIMES. Got to the lot. Agent sends us to nonexistent lot number, we go back to tell her and she says we should "try the key in the cars out there" !!! She wanted us to sign a waiver that the car was in good condition. Beware of scam-style pricing. When I booked, the rate was appx $50/day ($150 for 3 days). I prepaid for gas at $27 total, but when I got my final invoice, the gas was listed as $39, and my total with fees was over $250 for 3 days with additional fees that I hadn't been informed of when I rented online or at the counter upfront. They gave me a digital receipt instead of paper, so I didn't see this until I was already out of town. The car itself was very scuffed and dented, requiring a lot of discussion with the staff when leaving and returning the car. However, they did have a car for me, so there is that... The garage isn't streamlined so you have to walk all over the place from where you return the car to check out, etc. Also (not EZ specific, but...) unless you are flying in and out of PHX Sky Harbor, avoid the car rentals here completely if you can. You CANNOT get a taxi or get picked up at the car rental location - you have to take the shuttle back to the airport, adding about 15 minutes and a bunch of hassle to your transit. read more

A North Face jacket was left behind in a car by accident in the backseat. We filled out the lost and found report right away the minute we realized he had left it which was very shortly after dropping the car off. I attempted to contact them right away, and couldn't reach anyone. Left messages and emailed too with no response. We did everything super quick, in hopes we could get it back. Today I spoke to someone who basically just said the same thing, they didn't find it. . . I asked the process for checking the cars in, if someone looked through it and she said they do. Booked a car rental 2 weeks in advance and reserved a toddler seat. Had a great flight into PHX then checked into our reservation and were assured there was a seat downstairs in the garage. Got downstairs, got the car and guess freakin why, no toddler seat. Was then told that a manager was working on it and were left to wait in the garage (in PHX heat with an 18 month old)for them to figure it out. After waiting an hour we were told there was nothing to be done and then were offered a booster seat that didn't have any straps on it... (not safety compliant obviously) real safe. Ended up having to cancel the entire reservation and thank goodness for Alamo, bc they took excellent care of us. Do you staff a favor and have them go learn from the professionals. And don't worry, I will be warning every person of your lack of professionalism and service on every platform available. Oh PS, before our flight to PHX I called customer service and the guy assured me that there would be a seat ready for us. I wish i could give this location less than one star. I should have read the reviews before booking. However, I booked my reservation on Orbitz.com and choose a medium size car - with unlimited miles. I called EZ car rental to verify and was told yes, then quickly the call ended. I arrived on 09.14.2018 to get the car and was told that it was $20 more a day for unlimited miles. I talked about the unlimited miles and was told that wasn't the case, and I needed to pay more (as the rental only covered 250 miles). The front desk lady was rude and seemed irritated (as this obviously happens all the time per previous reviews) I WILL NOT rent from them again, which is sad because I have used them before (and recommended them to and never had an issue, this time put a bad taste in my mouth and seeing the SAME automated response from the "owner" with no changes shows me they really DO NOT CARE. UPDATE: I was just informed it's 250 miles per day, not per trip. So again, I wouldn't have needed the unlimited miles package, the sales representative stated it was 250 miles for the trip then I would be charged after that. What a joke. Horrible service and I'm pretty sure what happened was a bait and switch. We had a prepaid reservation through Priceline for $130 for a compact car for 3 days (4/19-4/22). We waited for over an hour at an understaffed counter. When we got to the counter, the agent told us the only car left was a Chevy Tahoe and we would have to pay an additional $280, bringing the total amount to more than $400! Triple the amount we were expecting to pay. Textbook example of a bait and switch. On top of that, the agent tried to pressure us into getting the Tahoe by telling us that Priceline never refunds prepaid reservations. On the contrary, when we contacted Priceline, we got a full refund, they said that we should've gotten a free upgrade, and offered to pay the difference for the alternate rental. Had we known that we would have to wait in line for over an hour to be scammed, we wouldn't have chosen E-Z Rent-a-Car. Save yourself the time and use a different rental car company. We went to Hertz and got a car for almost the same price in less than 15 min. read more

I rented a car from this location for a week in Phoenix. Upon pickup of the vehicle, I verbally declined additional insurance coverage through EZ, as I have more than adequate coverage through my own plan. When giving the Agent (Ken) my credit card at the end of our transaction to pay for the $200 deposit, I again confirmed with him that I did not want the additional insurance and that I was only being charged for the $200 deposit and nothing else, to which he agreed. When I received an email copy of my receipt and invoice of the transaction after returning the vehicle- sure enough- I WAS CHARGED AN ADDITIONAL $321 for insurance. Upon speaking with customer service to request a refund for services I most certainly didn't request, my refund was denied because I "signed" indicating confirmation of the added insurance. HOWEVER, the actual signing is done on an electronic signature pad at the end of the transaction, where you can't actually see what you're signing for, and the agent (Ken), just told me I was signing for confirmation of receipt of the car. Very deceptive, and yet now looking at the other Yelp reviews, not at all surprising. This is FRAUD- there's no other way of looking at it, as it was so clearly an intentional overcharge. If this location continues this type of business practice, they'll be lucky if the only thing they end up with is a slap on the wrist and a padlock on the front door. read more

I should have read all these reviews before booking the best price, but picking up a car during lunch time took over an hour to get helped at the desk and another hour for the car. Very impressed with how bad these guys are! Even with pre-filling all of the information you possibly can and joining their "member program", you can expect to wait about 3 times as long as any & all of their neighboring competitors. I first had to stand in a line (which moves slower than molasses) to show my ID, hand over my credit card for the deposit and be given my contract, only to then be directed to go downstairs to "hand over my contract and pick up my key". Sounds easy enough, right? Nope! In order to get that key, you will need to stand in an additional line (which in my last experience were only 2 people in front of me) and took about another 15 minutes to get to me. All the while, you will see 3 neighboring car rental companies go through the same process 3 times as fast (because all they're doing is matching a contract with a damn key and handing it over!). Then the icing is when they can't find the key that matches the car you were promised and give you another in a LOWER/CHEAPER car class than what you PRE-PAID for! But at that point, you will be so pissed off from having had so much of your time wasted, you'd be ok with leaving on a damn tricycle!! So my best advice is to completely forget the few dollars you'd save by renting from these guys as opposed to absolutely ANY OTHER COMPANY, and go elsewhere. You can be unemployed and not have a thing to do and your time is STILL more valuable than the amount of it that these guys will waste with their lack of organization! read more

Showed up on March 24, 2018 around 1am with a confirmed prepaid reservation through Priceline for a full size sedan for a week rental. Stood in this ridiculous line for 45 minutes... until the only person working at E-Z came to the line and said "One person from each family please raise your hand". She counted out the first six families and then addressed the rest of us saying that they only had six cars available for rent on site. The rest of us (including my husband and I) were out of luck. So now we are still in the process of trying to get our money refunded... which is a HUGE hassle!!! Please please please... save yourself from a terrible experience and get a rental car elsewhere. We ended up having a great experience with Alamo taking us as a walk-up rental after we were turned away from E-Z and they were almost 1/3 cheaper! read more

Here's the deal. I booked a Suburban on Rentalcars.com about a month ago. Confirmed the suburban about a week ago. Flew in from Chicago and took the long ride from the airport to the rental "embassy", where Wendy confirmed that I was getting a Suburban. Got down to the garage where Kara confirmed that we were getting a Suburban, but it was on another level and they were "cleaning it". A few minutes later, some dude shows up with a Ford Expedition and Kara asks if that will work. I said, not unless it's a Suburban. A few minutes later we get introduced to Lyndsey, the manager, and I comment "you don't have a Suburban do you", to which she says "no". We negotiate a deal that gets me to agree to a five star review. Now, I'm a reasonable person, and I honestly could care less about a Suburban vs. an Expedition vs. an Escalade. Seriously. Does it fit 8? That is all I care about. I could have left with a 1980's conversion van, but at every moment of the transaction, I was told that I had a Suburban. So, my expectation is that I get a Suburban. If I checked in and Wendy says, "Sorry dude, no Suburban, but we upgraded you to an Escalade." Ok, cool. I'm good. But nope. To be fair, Lyndsey crushed it. She was professional, and asked me what it would take to get me to a five star review. I told her, she delivered. Horrible! Got to rental car facility @ 11pm, I called earlier in the day to say we would be landing at 10:30, no problem. When we got there us, and about 6 other people were told they were sold out. Even if you had reservations and prepaid. I asked the attendant what he suggested my daughter and I do and he said "not my problem, we do this all the time! Every day in fact we sell out!" AWFUL. NEVER AGAIN Cheap and I got what I paid for. Attendant sitting next to line arguing with customers, line so long with only 2 people working, car was dinged up and filthy looking, guy at garage was so nonchalant and no customer service skills. This was the most jankiest rental I've ever done, all these hidden fees for insurance, debit card vs credit card, unlimited mileage, local driver fees. If it wasn't for the price for 2 day weekend rental I've would've gone elsewhere. But next time I'll stick to the bigger names and just pay for it. read more

SCAM alert - Agreed rental price: $276.44, actual charge: $393.96 for a 3 day rental of small car (Hyundai). Rented via Rentalcars.com for 3 days. First issue included attempted upcharging at the counter (for the usual upgrade attempt). When we turned it down, there was the fuel charge (which we did accept for $40.68) Upon attempting to contact the counter, no one answers the phone - ever. The voice mail box is full, so no way to contact anyone. Calling the 800 number just gets you punted back to the airport counter. No one will help you at the counter because they know you are trying to get to a flight. Undisclosed fees included: Stadium Tax: $10.77 CFC: $24.00 City Tax: $$14.25 Vehicle License Fee: $16.57 State Tax: $20.88 Concession Fee: $30.75 Extra Hours Charges: $42.92 (despite assurances that we would not be charged for these 2 hours prior to the rental, but never received the confirmation, which was why we called over and over) MORE THAN $100 OVER the agreed upon rental price read more

Although the car I rented here was nice, the salesperson I spoke to definitely swindled me into something because renting a car that was supposed to be $35/day (online "estimate" price) ended up being over $200 for TWO DAYS. I was excited to rent my first car from E-Z Rent A Car but it's safe to say they'll never have my business or recommendation again. To add insult to injury I called to price out extending my rental, as my trip was extended, and the rep on the phone told me my price would be doubled. He went on to make a show of asking his manager if he could give me a deal, took some of the price off so that it was about an extra $125 PER DAY and then got angry when I told him I would have to think about it. After waiting 20 minutes or so the line had not moved at all. After 45 minutes we had moved up only a few more feet. So I stepped out of line and made reservations at Alamo for only a few dollars more. When I walked back past the EZ line the fellow behind me had not moved much. The branch manager reached out to address the issue / experience I had at this airport location. He was polite and professional, unlike his employee who was out for a one time commission rather than getting a repeat customer based on their service. Couple of reasons why I only raised this by 1 star...... 1. He initial response did not reassure me this issue / behavior was going to be addressed. He was more focused on checking my contract #, with no apology at all. He then started explaining to me how I was charged, which completely ignored the issue at hand of how they charged me double / late return penalty BEFORE I even rented the car. Simply because I entered the wrong return time (am/pm). It was 2 days regardless, but I was charged double for day 2 due to the "late return / extra day". Why not just correct it and book it correctly. 2. Because of this, I wasn't confident behavioral issues were going to be address. Which I believe he did not, until I brought it up. Then then said this has been discussed with the agent who booked me, and to the team to improve their services going forward. Wether he did it or not, a response goes a long way. At the end of the day, he did end up refunding me for the double charge / penalty, which I greatly appreciate. But, this doesn't change the service level issue that was there, and a lack of effort in resolving with an obvious issue until I pressed them on it. Which is why i only improved this by 1 star. Conclusion: 1. they are cheap (price), cars are often rented out first. If you are looking for value, they are one of the options. 2. However, check price line item by line item. If there's an issue, resolve it there and then. 3. If the agent threatens about not buying added insurance, and how they are going after you if something happens, tell him to go f himself. read more

We had the worst car rental experience of our life at this location. After a reasonably smooth car assignment & checkout late at night - we had a good night's rest at an airport hotel and starting driving early am. As soon as we started driving (about 5 miles from this rental location) - heavy rain started and we discovered the window wipers wouldn't work - they were making a horrible grinding noise and the motor was not able to move the wiper arms. We were literally stranded in the middle of the highway. Bad - but it happens. Here is where the terrible CS started. We called the number on our rental forms - which goes to a central call centre. They were cordial and transferred us to the rental location. Now the horror starts. The rental location was rude, unwilling to help and borderline abusive. First they said we should just drive on. With my family in the car including a young child - I was not going to do this. I explained that this was dangerous AND illegal. When I asked about a tow or a replacement car and they kept humming and hawing and then insisted that a tow would take 8-10 hours (even though we were 5 miles away). After several hours of being stranded in the middle of a very busy highway with rain pouring down - the heavens took mercy and there was a 10 minute break in the rain. I decided to drive back during the break and returned the car. Besides the break down - it was the horrible CS and callous & abusive attitude of the attendant that stood out. We rented a car from Advantage Rental Car and picked it up on November 19th 2015 around 10pm and returned it on November 22nd 2015 around 3pm. The customer service agent was very rude when we politely declined all his add ons. He told us he wouldn't charge for an additional driver if we upgraded to a car that was 150 % higher then we reserved. We told him No Thank You. He said I needed to because the car was very small. Not sure if he was calling me fat or not Lol... Still Declined. He told us about his great Fuel plan that would only cost $28. We only needed a car for 40-50 miles. We declined and he told us we better fill up within 2 miles of the airport and bring a receipt! We did fill up across from the airport and only used ONE Gallon of fuel at $1.79 Their was nobody to give the receipt to. He was very rude that we declined all the insurance add ons. We found the car in the spot he told us and it had a damaged bumper/fender. I went looking for an agent to show. He handed me a slip to mark the damage. We got home on the 22nd and on the 29th we were charged an additional $95 for three days of rental car. They said we returned the car on November 25th. Not true. We returned the car on November 22nd. There are signs to leave the car and Keys inside. No agents to talk to, or get a signed copy that the car was returned in the same condition. The only proof we have is our Flight Itinerary and Boarding Pass that we returned the car on November 22nd. After being on hold for nearly 20 minutes, we finally got to talk to customer service and she asked that we emailed her proof. We have done so and hope to see our credit in a timely matter. read more

This place is awful. Do not rent from here! After reserving a car in advance, we arrived to find out that it was not available, and all they had left was a minivan. We agreed since we were in a bit of hurry, but should have seen that as the first red flag. After stating that I did not want to add anything on to the car, and the agent agreeing, he added the items anyway. He even added the fuel surcharge for $59.00, and told us to bring it back full anyway. Folded up the agreement and slipped it inside the map to be sure we wouldn't review it before picking up the car (Hindsight: Why trust a shady rental place to be honest? There's a reason the upfront pricing is so cheap.). After dropping off the vehicle (with a full tank) the agent said everything was in order, and instructed us to drop the paperwork off at the office on our way out. We dropped off the paperwork and I was told a receipt would be sent to my email (No receipt was ever received). I spent about a half hour on the phone with customer service after 4 attempts at calling. Explained that I was overcharged and requested the refund. Finally was provided the receipt showing the added charges the desk agent put on that were not requested, and was told that I would need to provide receipts for the fuel, and that they would only refund half of the collision waiver. Now I'm having to dispute this with my credit card company because they are not issuing the credits. Do not do business with this company. Pay a few bucks extra and deal with an honest car rental company. This experience has been an absolute nightmare, and not one you should have to deal with coming back from vacation. read more

I rented a premium vehicle through Priceline, they selected this "company" to rent from. SO......after reading the horrible reviews I had a faint hope that maybe I would be the one case were things would go smoothly. It didn't. So I arrive at the counter at approximately 5 am. The good thing was there was infamous long lines that the other reviews were mentioning. But there was no one at the counter. After about five minutes trying find someone. It turned out that someone was actually there the whole time, sitting in one their rental cars smoking. I explained to the "employee" I have reservation made through Priceline. He went on the following rant about how locals do not have unlimited miles. I explained Priceline stated I did. He said Priceline lies all the time and I would be charged per mile after 200 miles each day. Oh, and also how I still need to provide him insurance even though I declined the coverage, if not I would be charged on my debit card , not credit, (he said credit card were not allowed, only debit) what ever he probably felt like charging me. Based off other reviews, this seems to be a common practice. After I refused to do all this, claiming I already paid for the reservation. He went on to accuse me being a scam artist, like all the other customers. The reason people like me are required to use debit cards is because we can scam the company on credit cards. I was done at this point, he went and got the "manager" who I am pretty sure was asleep and she was as useless as he was. So needless to say, I didn't rent the car. I called Priceline and informed of the ordeal. They apologized and issued my refund after they got confirmation from EZ or Advantage that I didn't pick up the car. About 30 minutes later I walked over to Avis rented my car without the hassle and was on my way. Spend the few dollars extra and the legitimate car rental companies. The car itself was fine. It was the misinformation that was given to me at check out that made me not want to return back. The prepaid gas option was never explained thoroughly with me. From what I received from the customer representative he explained as if I would only pay for the miles used at $2.65/gallon. He deceitfully never told me they would charge me $49 regardless how many miles I used. I only used 95% of the gas that was given at full tank. Moreover hidden fees were applied that weren't ever explained. It was only after I made a compliant of the hidden taxes and fees that they were able refund me back my money. Seriously who charges twice for state and concession fees?!? I thought I paid for that in the beginning. Would definitely look twice at your receipt once everything checks out. read more

I guess I should have read the reviews before I rented. Not only was the car that they said was brand-new a piece of shit, it ran very difficult I practically had to put the pedal on the floor for me to get up a hill here in Fountain Hills... Then I accidentally left my wallet in the car and came back the very next morning and $100 is missing out of the wallet. We've been here for an hour and 20 minutes waiting for a manager to come to me and get this resolved and nobody has showed up yet. We had a conversation a few moments ago with the guy who checked my car and all he kept saying was I told you to check and make sure you removed all of your items... Just because I left my wallet does not give anyone the right to take $100 bill out of my wallet. Good job guys I will never use you again and I will tell all of my friends to never use you again you have poor ratings because you are a poor company Update... THE WORST EXPERIENCE!!! I never write on yelp, ever. But this was awful. I waited in line for 1 hour and 22 mins exact. The guys were slow and didn't care to go faster. I bought the car, and coverage through a 3rd party and on top of that they MADE me pay a $400 (deposit and fees). I SPENT $500 ON A 3 DAY RENTAL! The guy wouldn't let me communicate or ask questions, he just pissed me off and kept saying, "it's policy, it's policy..." he was rude!!! I was asking him if I could cancel what I paid online because I can't afford a $500 3 day rental. THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE AND MANIPULATIVE. read more

Young salesman at the counter lied through his teeth on every point of the transaction to push me into an upgrade. I had called weeks in advance to find out how to secure a jeep wrangler and then followed their instructions. This guy tells me they dont even have jeeps and that I'd have to get a land rover or something equally massive. When I would inquire about smaller vehicles he would claim they were even MORE expensive per day and that I really just need to pay extra and get a pick up truck. About $250 more on the rental. I go out to the lot and guess what's there? Jeep wranglers! They get paid on commission for upselling people and the sales manager is clearly irresponsible. read more

Caveat Emptor...let the buyer beware... The advertised price seems like a bargain, but there are hidden fees and extra insurance is very expensive. $9.99 per day to add your spouse as a driver. So if you make the reservation and you are not the driver, there is a hidden fee... Driving during peak tourist season, we thought we'd add fault free insurance, wow it's about $30 per day The car was great and the staff were very friendly no efficient, but probably going to stick with a Enterprise or another vendor in the future. read more

THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM! BEWARE OF OVERBOOKING AND BAIT AND SWITCH TACTICS: I really hate writing reviews... but this rental experience was the worst experience I've ever had in my life so I have to complain. I arrived at PHX, took the rental car shuttle to the car rental terminal. E-Z Rent a Car shares a counter with Advantage and their counter was the only with a line out the door. Waited 40 minutes in the line. An employee said to check the counter downstairs so my friend ran down to check. The employees said their printer was broken and sent him back up. Back at the counter an employee started sending other people downstairs and we told them the printer was broken and they weren't taking people and the employee laughed at that and said the printer wasn't broken. Sketch. We went down to the counter downstairs and sure enough they were processing reservations. I waited another 20 minutes. When I got to the counter all the cars were gone. I had prepaid $130 on Priceline, reservation confirmed. The lady told me one car was left: a Chevy Tahoe. I was hesitant since I originally rented a compact car, this was not what I wanted to drive. I agreed to it because it was the only car that was left. After I agreed, she told me I would have to pay $280 additionally for the car. THIS IS $420 FOR A CAR FOR ONE WEEKEND (on top of my prepaid amount). This is a classic BAIT AND SWITCH. How are you going to charge me $130 for a confirmation and reservation and then switch the car I wanted and charge me more? I asked if I would get a refund for the $130 I prepaid. She was very aggressive and told me that I "will never see my refund again". She tried to intimidate me into paying extra. I refused because the price was absurd. I ended up going to Hertz next door.
