This is a pretty good place for a buffet! I'm happy to see its clean place and that they rotate their foods if it gets old. The bathroom is clean, staffs are okay on the service it depends who u have, and I freaking love the sushi. Everything is so delicious. I wish their desserts have more of a selection but I usually don't eat desserts anyway. read more

E-star is my favorite buffet chain in Houston. I usually go to the Katy location and am happy there. This was my first time at this location. The servers are very friendly. Our server Andy was on point; super attentive, polite, and smiley. He brought plenty of napkins, and always kept our water refilled. I will definitely request his section next time! They we're constantly bringing out fresh food and exchanging trays on the buffet line. The hot items were hot and the sushi was cold; perfect. There was a variety of different foods, not everything was fried (I love that). The baked salmon was fantastic. The tables and booths were clean, and the servers bussed tables quickly. It was definitely family friendly. There were a variety of table top sizes, and what looked like a private room off to the side; good to know if I ever have to have a large gathering. The decor is very fusion, high tech, really nice concept. I arrived at lunchtime just as they opened at 11:00 so all buffet was hot and fresh. The ribs, chicken wings and meats were tender and tasty. Soups were fresh and hot with lots of fresh toppings. The sushi was good but not the best. The variety was exceptional. Service was good too. The big negative is not the restaurant but the customers. Buffet's seem to bring out the pig in humans and I had to wear blinders to avoid getting sick from the eating frenzy around us. The lunch time construction crews in the area arrived, fresh sweat and dirt still present on their hands and clothing so obviously there is not a dress code. Too bad, so sad. Good buffet sushi with a lot of variety. Staff are usually pleasant and efficient. Decor is not really attractive to me and a little dark/club feeling, but that's not why we come here. Pricing is competitive. The individual bowl side salads are a nice touch. They're always busy when we've been here and the food has this always been fresh. Desert options not as extensive as others. THERE WAS A ROACH IN OUR FOOD !!!! I went to the front desk to tell them and asked for the manager, he told me he was the manager but he wasn't acting like one he wouldnt look me in the eyes when speaking to me. I showed him the roach in the food and he was inspecting it, and took it to the kitchen to show them. He came back and told us he wasn't going to charge us for 1 plate there was 3 of us, and we all had gotten mushrooms(we found the roach in the mushrooms) and we told him we weren't going to pay for anything. That's absolutely disgusting and if it was him walking into a restaurant he would be disgusted too if he found that. He didn't take the plate from the buffet table off so people were still able to get mushrooms, knowing that thats contaminated he should have taken it right out. But think about it if there was a roach in there imagine in what other food theres roaches as well. This is a restaurant, it should be kept to not get people sick. It's disgusting and you wouldn't want a loved one eating a plate that was cooked with a roach. read more

I came here with my son and sat down to eat. During the first plate not even half way i found hair in my rice. The waiter was there as i pulled it out of my mouth and apologized. Management blamed their customers children saying they play in the food and arent supervised. I obviously stopped eating and will go buy something when i leave but i find it horrible that the owner and management deal with situations like this... i still payed for my food so i am buying dinner twice! Very clean establishment. The amount of phosphorescent trim and neon lighting is enough to make you question whether its a club or a Chinese buffet. The food is standard Chinese buffet fare. There is a good variety, and the service is good. Desert selection was fairly limited, but that is not a deal breaker, for me at least. read more

Was not the best or the worst Chinese food I've had. It was very greasy and the hot and sour soup tasted like dirty dishes water. The sushi and rolls had no taste at all, they were very bland. This place is comfort food for me. When you walk in you will notice that the design of this place is hmm modern? Definitly not a run down place! Any way I am really pleased of how the place looks! The food is decent too!! There are a variety of foods to pick from for and adult to go in is about $13 each person which I think is reasonable. I go and its like a rainbow for $13. Its not top notch but its not dreadfully bad either. I would go here for a dinner but not for an anniversary you know? The location of this place isn't the best but despite that there are still many people who come to eat here (plus theres a walmart beside it which i find convenient). So if you are looking for a decent dinner come here. Ate there at lunch today for the first time since Covid. I asked the hostess what type of sanitation/protection they had in place for handling the serving utensils, etc. She told me that EVERYONE HAD TO WEAR A MASK AND THE DISPOSABLE GLOVES (provided right by the serving plates). I thought that was great. Well it is, IF YOU ENFORCE IT!!!!! Unfortunately, they don't. There were numerous people up there without masks or the free gloves. I complained to the waitress about this and she shrugged it off. When I left I asked the lady at the "to go" counter if she was the manager and she said she was. I told her that without enforcement, their "safety practices" for Covid were useless. She didn't seem to care either. Typical, they just want the money and don't care about their false guarantee of food safety. I told her I was going to write this review and she just said "ok". Great place to hang out with friends. The staffs are really friendly, and good service. They have a large buffet bar include sushi and seafood. E-Star is the best Chinese Buffet in the Northwest area. The restaurant looks nice and clean. The staffs are very attentive. Huge selections of items. Love bake mussels, crawfishes, bake salmon, chicken wings, mango salad, deserts and lot more. I've been here several times, and now they have raw oyster. So yummy. They have a great selection of stir fried vegetables, General Tsao chicken, lo mein, peppered steak, a wide variety of sushi, and much more. I don't think I could have rated a buffet at four stars, but this place deserves it. The modern decor doesn't totally work for me, but my son and I were here for the food and they delivered. The general tso's was very well done and usually the hallmark of a good Chinese restaurant. To put in context, it's Chinese Buffet. So rating is reflective to other better Asian Buffets. Kirin ii Japanese Seafood on FM 1960 or Hibachi Grill on I-10 was my frame of reference. Think disco décor, really could have been a large 80's dance club. I think this was a former Toy's R Us building. Lots of selection, probably more than the standard buffet. From what you expect to find Sweet and Sour Chicken to unique Menudo. However food was bland, with many items tasting the same. After a sampling, evolved to eating everything except Chinese; boiled shrimp, fried calamari, fried fish, sashimi, etc.. Food was replenished quickly and table monitoring was attentive and friendly. Probably won't return but wouldn't discourage others from a visit. read more

This is my favorite Chinese buffet. Totally rad design and atmosphere. My friend complained about the price but I thought it was fair. I think it's around $15. Great sushi for a buffet. Its pretty for a buffet place. Plenty of parking as its the only big business in that lot. Food is your average Chinese buffet. Soup was cold when I had dinner there. But the rest of the items seems to be getting refilled frequently. The pepper steak and pork were good. Avoid the chicken wings and barbecue. Most of the chicken gravy dishes were decent.
