He understood my 100+ year-old house's guts and took the time to explain and show me why we were experiencing a problem and what to do about it. I told him what another plumber told me I needed to do and he explained to me that that wasn't necessary (or legal), saving me over $2K. It was clear to me that Chuck was extremely knowledgeable, not only about plumbing and sewers, but about Chicago plumbing and sewer matters. He handled the matter thoroughly and professionally, and his supervisor, John Moses, sent me two recommendations for other companies I can call to help pick up where their line of services ends to fix the problem 100%. I tried to tip him and he would not accept it, explaining that he really loves his work and has no need for the tip. My last word? When it comes to plumbing and sewer matters, don't mess with rookies. FL&S are the OG of 86'ing your #2.

They replaced 8 shut off valves, moved our toilet valves and installed a new drain in our shower. I would HIGLY recommend using ANM for any of your plumbing services ! Communication was amazing with texts throughout the entire process from start to finish! Thank you ANM !

In my case, a faulty water heater needing to be replaced. The Good: incredibly responsive, tried to troubleshoot over the phone and worked to visit the immediate next day. The (Real) Bad: they price gouged me in a time of peril. Unacceptable. Knowing I was up against the ropes, they charged me what was nearly 3.5 times a normal charge for a water heater replacement! I asked for them to be more accommodating on the quote but came back with 'nothing we can do'. I guess they assumed I'd pay that exorbinant price. I didn't. I got quotes from two other responsive plumbers which proved Plumbing Department was attempting to gouge me. I'm glad I went elsewhere. It's a shame they have such speedy, friendly initial support, but followed it with egregious quotes. Hope they can do better in the future. UPDATE: spoke with owner, Jeff, to discuss the experience. To provide further details underscoring the notable pricepoint disparity: Plumbing Department - install Bradford White water heater with licensed, bonded and insured company Other Plumber Quotes at 3-3.5x less - install a Rheems Performance water heater from licensed, bonded, and insured company. I have no qualms with how Jeff chooses to operate and appreciated their initial support, but found the pricepoints for the install, at a moment of peril, arresting and glad I didn't settle with what was clearly an elevated pricepoint. I'm only sharing my experience and the notable pricepoint disparity.

Okay, I got the picture, someone wanted into my house immediately. I yelled that I was on my way and scrambled to the door. I opened the door to find our head engineer, who gestured at water soaking the hallway carpet- coming from my home. Uhhh. Ughhhh. I grabbed my house guard and let him in. He spent some time clearing the way, looking at the problem and said: "You need a Plumber". My heart sank. Dollar signs danced before my eyes. Visions of disaster loomed. I asked the engineer if he could shut off the water heater and recommend an excellent plumber who I could have come out, possibly the next day (I did not want to pay emergency rates unless I had to do so). He did both. Weinberg was exceptional about scheduling. Normally they are booked weeks/months out. They fit me in within almost 24 hours of my call. They came out, looked at the problem, we discussed the best, most economical way to handle the situation, and we proceeded. I did NOT need a new hot water heater, Yahoo! I manage the apartment building that I live in, and frequently require the services of contractors when units need to be serviced. I had gone the cheap route and hired plumbers from craigslist a few times - I saved money, but the results were always temporary and terrible. The last time I needed a plumber, I decided to look for longevity in business as well as skill level of employees, rather than experience another craigslist horror-story. I called around to several local companies and decided on the bid from Weinberg Plumbing. The difference in my experience with Matt versus my previous craigslist plumber was like night and day. Matt clearly explained what the process would be, and then made recommendations to me on what needed to be done immediately, what could wait a few months, and what would just be nice to do. It was SO REFRESHING for someone to speak to me like a normal person! All the work was completed very quickly - but not TOO quickly - and was done correctly. I'll be using their services the next time my building needs plumbing work - no more craigslist junk-jobs in my building. I guess if you really want something done well, you have to spend a little more money and hire the professionals. Lesson learned!
