This year when our furnace stopped working mid December: Called up Genove right away and they had someone out the same day to try and help us! We knew the furnace was on the last of its nine lives so Richie came and took a look and let us know our options! He's super knowledgeable and let us know about the Mass Rebate program to save us money! We chose to go with a new electric heat pump over just replacing the furnace because our air conditioning unit was older too and we wanted to get it all under control! This was a pretty big job that required them working in a crawlspace that you can't stand up all the way in which we are very grateful for their hard work! Richie and the rest of the guys showed up early worked with our schedule and really went above and beyond to fix our heating trouble! He also recommended a great electrician to upgrade our electrical panel and take care of the electrical components of the work! It was a seamless job and was great that both entities were familiar working with eachother! Everything ran so smoothly! Armando was great to work with in the office when it came to the proposal and payments as well as getting all of the information needed to submit the Mass Save rebate information after the work was complete! What should have been a very stressful situation quickly became a lot easier when dealing with these guys! They really know their stuff! They were able to get all of this work scheduled before the end of the year to help us out with the rebate and gave us a great heating system for the new year! Over the course of a couple of years, I've encountered multiple incidents that seem to point to deliberate sabotage of my heating and cooling system. I also have PROOF in my pictures. I'm somewhat handy, and if I was not, I would have been taken advantage of even more. Here's my story: **Incident 1:** It all started when my AC unit broke down during a heatwave. I had a newborn at home, so I needed help fast. Despite being on the pricier side ($500 for the visit), they were the only ones available quickly. The technician "fixed" the issue and tried hard to sell me a brand-new unit--despite the fact that my current one was still functioning. I brushed it off as a sales tactic. However, when the weather turned cold, I realized my **heat wasn't working**. I'm a bit handy, so I took a panel off to inspect the unit, and what do I find? The **gas line had been turned off at the panel**! It's important to note that the heater worked just fine before this service, so the only possible culprit was the technician. Had I not caught this myself, I would have likely been convinced that the entire system needed replacing--costing me even more money. **Incident 2:** Later, I did end up getting a new HVAC system (from a different company). However, my diverters (which control airflow) stopped working, blowing a fuse. Once again, no one else was available, so I had to call Alborz again. I was skeptical after last time, but thought maybe it was possibly an accident... This time, I was on high alert and watched him closely. He fiddled around and had me go check the thermostat downstairs while he "worked on the unit." Reluctantly, I complied. Sure enough, when summer arrived, **the AC stopped working again**. **Proof of Sabotage:** After some investigation, I discovered the technician **deliberately disconnected a wire** in my unit, which is why the AC wasn't working. I have photographic proof showing the disconnected wire and the work area, demonstrating this malicious action. --- **Final Warning:** It's clear to me this company has a pattern of **sabotaging equipment to generate more business**. These aren't simple mistakes; they're calculated actions designed to mislead homeowners into believing their systems need more work or replacement than is necessary. The very next day the second heating system I had in an addition failed. I was distraught!! Net Zero gave me a great quote..several thousands less than other HVAC. What they did not tell me that they were only electric heating contractors. So after paying $12,000.00 for installation I now pay an electric bill of $1000.00 a month in the winter. They walked by a brand new gas system in my home..disengaged a second gas heating 50 feet away and installed a unit that is costing me a thousand dollars a month. Not one of the employees ...installers. or project estimators...addressed what a poor and unkind decision this was. Now I have to redo my heating system...sell my house...unable to retire . Would they do the same to their mothers..grandmothers? This is a sad and sorry company. Yes I know I'm a stupid elderly woman with no recourse from people like this. I just hope this warns others to avoid this snake company.

We've had a very long challenging history with Atlantic. The only reason we keep using them is…read morebecause our contractor really pushes using them, and it's hard to find an alternative in any case - I've had one other service out but they didn't really instill confidence. We moved into our condo 19 years ago; central AC stopped working when the next summer rolled around. Same with the next, and the next - a new coolant refill every time. Eventually, when pressed for an answer, Atlantic reported suspicion of a leak in the system, but were unable to find it over the next 5-ish years when AC kept failing to cool right when it gets really hot here each summer. At some point we decided to purchase a new system that cools the air within the unit - bypassing the concern about a possible leak. Absurdly expensive b/c it's huge and on the roof, requiring a crane etc. Except, that one also fails about every one-two years and no one knows why. They're *very good* at making you feel like this fix is the one that will stick, but it never does. Wish we had pushed for a warranty-based fix before our warranty ran out. Also, lots of variance between technicians. This summer, when the system failed per usual and I had to have a technician out, the first technician exclaimed that the amount of rust in the system was very concerning because we were "breathing it all in." When I showed it to an Atlantic salesperson/technician a week or so later, he said that there was absolutely no health risk and that the rust was completely normal. Which one to believe....? In the meantime our mini-splits on the lower floors have been conking out over the past 2-3 years - all pretty old. Said salesperson/technician from the last visit came to provide an estimate two weeks ago. Despite attempts to reconnect with him, he has vanished. I was hoping to get the AC taken care of by now as we're nearing July and it's going to get extremely hot here, but I'm about done with this company.

I had a frozen pipe emergency during freezing weather with no heat in the house. They came out, charged me $300, and didn't even provide a proper diagnosis. I was told it "might be" a broken circulator -- no certainty, no testing, just speculation. Meanwhile, they created a dripping valve, and they didn't even bother to tighten it despite my requesr. They said they would send an estimate and never did -- not for two days -- while we were literally shivering in the cold. When I finally followed up, they sent a $2,100 estimate to replace the circulator and fix the valve. Thankfully, I decided to call another plumber. Within 20 minutes, the frozen pipe was fixed with much cheaper. I was told there was absolutely nothing wrong with the circulator or the valve. The dripping valve? Tightened in a few second. I paid $300 for guesswork, delay, and unnecessary upselling during an emergency situation. This felt like an attempt to take advantage of a homeowner in distress. I would strongly caution anyone considering this company to think twice.

We had to pay almost $2,000 to fix a tiny thing because, cunningly, they've figured out they can rake in much more money by charging separately for every "step." These "steps," mind you, used to be considered part of "doing the job," but are now billed separately by this company, which apparently has been taken over by a private equity firm, which explains it. For each "step," they shove an iPad in your face and demand your signature: Eg: --driving to your home (in this case, about 10 miles from Woburn): about $300 --diagnosing the problem: $600 --driving to get the necessary spare part (about 5 miles and back), which was so basic they should have had it on the truck: about $250 --cost of spare part: $200 --installing the spare part, which took about 30 minutes: $600 Interestingly, when we received the bill, it did NOT itemize these charges in terms of the dollar amount for each, instead it listed by units (eg "1:00 troubleshooting," "1:00 parts pickup"). We will never use this company again. Even though it was the company that installed the system, for which we paid 28K just a few years ago (no longer under their 2-year warranty). This maintenance visit showed that they're clearly more interested in making bank than actually building customer loyalty. Companies are entitled to make money. This is something else altogether. We never write reviews, but hope this one will serve as a warning to people needing HVAC services but unable to afford truly exploitative upcharging.
