Pat is a diamond in the rough! Honest, hardworking, trustworthy. He'll be upfront with anything that is wrong with your vehicle after looking at it. And charges a fair rate (doesn't gouge or make you pay for frivolous unneeded repairs like hmm car dealerships). I've gone to him for many years now and am always grateful for his work. Pat works by appointment so if you are expecting to walk- in and he fix your car, that's an unreasonable expectation and you'll be disappointed. He's usually booked a week or so out, which also indicates the demand on his work. So, call and he'll tell you when to bring tour car in. read more

Our family has been taking our cars and trucks to E&J for well over 10 years now. We have older cars and we just cant afford new ones right now.so its nice to know E&J helps us keep our cars running. We started off with another auto shop trying to rip us off for work that DIDNT need to be done our neighbor told us about E&J and we have been there ever since. "Pat" is the best. Him and his team has had to fix everything from heating, seal gaskets, cracked hoses, electrical that squirrels chewed, sesonal maintinence and more. Wow, we haven't been there in MANY years (since about the time the internet was created probably...LOL), so this review is way over due! I just stumbled on these other reviews today after telling a co-worker about a problem I had with a car once and it made me think of them. So glad to see they are still around...it's really not surprising though because of the way they do business!!! We used to use them for all of our vehicles, but unfortunately had to stop when we moved to California. We were so pleased with them that we tried to convince Pat to move to San Diego and open a shop here...LOL! Literally the last stop we made on our way out of town with the moving truck all loaded up was by E & J to donate 2 older cars that we no longer needed since we had ordered a new one that was being picked up when we arrived in CA. Hopefully they were able to sell them and enjoy at least a nice dinner! ;-) I have never dealt with another shop that is as fair and honest as E & J Auto. They do a thorough inspection and tell you exactly what your car needs and how long you have before it will be necessary. They don't try to pressure you into doing unncessary work just so they can make money. Always ready on time, done right, and they take excellant care of your car. They even solved a weird heat related shifting problem that 2 dealers and a transmission shop mis-diagnosed and replaced several sensors, then rebuilt the transmission, and eventually replaced it with a new one...nothing fixed it and they gave up and just denied there was an issue. There was this one time that we brought an old Volvo to them... and an engine that had been ripped out of another old Volvo, and placed in the bed of a pick-up truck. And they blessedly melded the two together for us. Without even laughing. It took just over a week, and only cost about a grand. That Volvo is still running. Since then, they've done a ridiculous amount of work on my 2001 Ford Windstar. I recently brought it to them with what I thought was the beginning of the end of its life. It felt like rocks had gone through the engine while I was cruising down the highway. I stupidly threw out my issues to the masses on facebook, and was convinced that pretty much anything not electrical had bit the dust. I was expecting the repairs to be more than the vehicle is worth... They call me up and say, "Oh hey, yeah... just needed new spark plugs, and could use a tune up. The filters are kind of nasty." They could have taken me to the cleaners. I've been taken to the cleaners by mechanics before. It sucks. Currently they're working on my daughter's car, which was bestowed upon her by her father. It's a piece of crapola. He didn't do much to it when it was in his possession. The kind folk at E and J understand my predicament. Ex husband dumps his problem in my lap. Thanks to these awesome fellows, I'm going to come out looking like the greatest damned thing since sliced bread. I will be the most frikkin FANTASTIC MOM on the planet. TL;DR Version: These guys are friendly and HONEST. Go to them! On a cross-country road trip, I was passing through Denver, CO and I couldn't be more thankful that I found these guys. My vehicle was having some serious issues and we needed a mechanic before moving on to the other coast. Long story short, they replaced our speed sensor (since their scan of the service engine light showed that to be the problem) but they discovered that the problem truly lied in the transmission. They told us that that wasn't really their speciality and referred us to another transmission guy. But, even better, they replaced the new part with our old part since they discovered that nothing was wrong with it and didn't charge us a penny for labor! These are some truly honest mechanics who care about making the customer happy rather than making a quick buck. Since I'm in California now, I can't really repay them with all my future business (I wish I could!) but I can give them a hearty, confident recommendation. People I work with told me about E & J. I've taken a number of cars there for the last 12 years. Pat is great, honest and reliable. I don't remember how many times I've taken something in, told Pat what was wrong with it and was told later it wasn't what I thought and was less than I expected. I am updating my previous review. Mr Jones is either not truthful, has a poor memory, or poor records. He states I did not show or call for appointments that were changed. I did call each time I changed an appointment--the day before the first time and the day of before 9:00 AM for the 2nd. His attempt to say otherwise goes toward his inability to provide good care and/or goes toward his ability to be truthful. Also, in no way was I told that the first attempt at fixing my problems would be a "quick fix". In fact, it did not fix the problem in any way for any length of time. Nor was my problem fixed again when I stupidly returned to this business a second time and left my car there for the day only to have it locked up in his lot for 3 days without my permission. If you want to donate $500 to a business, this is the one. And they will also steal your car for 3 days at no extra charge. read more
