We have an older home that we are constantly looking to update while maintaining its level of early 1900's quality and charm and when it comes to finishes, these guys and gals are experts. I've never received a recommendation that didn't work out and they have even referred us to area pros for larger jobs that required more than my "close my eyes and slap paint on it" method of completing the task. I also need to mention the high quality products we're dealing with here. The prices reflect the quality, but it's very worth it _and_ they keep a record of your paint purchases in case you forget exactly what color of white you've been buying for your trim!

My first visit here easily would have deserved five stars but then again I had a male associate…read morehelp me the first time and two completely different women the second visit (which dropped this to a two star review). During my first visit, the male associate was kind enough to let me barrow a large portable pamphlet of all their colors so I could easily pick out paint for my new home. Although I was not inspired by any of the 300 plus colors, I did appreciate the useful tool & his knowledge of product. However, when I went back to this store, I had brought a catalog I picked up at the Hartville Hardware Store that stated this catalog was created by Sherwin Williams on the back. Little did I know that the company uses other competitors colors in their catalogs in hopes of matching that companies color with one of their own. This seems incredibly strange and shady to me but this is what one of the female associates explained to me when I showed her the color name & code I wanted from the catalog. I was disappointed because even though she provided three samples of colors she thought was similar, this meant more leg work for me as I would have to drive all the way back to Brimfield & waste more time trying to match colors. She then became irritated when I tried to compromise and showed her another sample I had from design magazine...stating that they can't match the colors because the magazine is glossy and it has to be a non glossy image. The image even said who made the paint and what color code it was- I was told by the male associate that they can match anyones colors :( However, she did offer to make a small sample of paint I could take with me to compare lighting,etc... but I waited over 10 minutes before I was acknowledge...both female employees were too busy talking about what to get for lunch & Grey's Anatomy. Then the second girl stood at the desk fiddling with some type of machine for over 15 minutes , looked up & saw me but continued to ignore me. It wasn't until I got mad & started walking away that the first associate asked if I needed help- seriously! What do you think I just spent over 20 minutes waiting at your counter for- sh*ts & giggles?

I ordered 10 gal of exterior satin and another 5 gal exterior white trim ... Being late in the season I got the paint the next day ... However it looked like I underestimated how much paint I needed ... (I was spraying a barn) I called Amanda up told her it looked like I would need another 5gal of the red .... She was on it !! .... Called me back in 2min said we'll have it for you ready to pick up in 1 hour .... Can't tell you how great her service was AAA+++... Makes all the difference ... Then, I ran out of the white trim paint as well... Same service as before ... No problems ... That store on Applegrove knows what they are doing ... Within five minutes, she had the paint on a hand truck and next to my car. I was able to use my Friends And Family discount too! This locally owned business will continue to get my support, plus I have a relative and several friends that work for Sherwin either in their chemistry lab or information technology. Since the stores are only offering curbside pickup, I had a lot of help choosing paint and stain on…read morethe phone. The person was very knowledgeable about the products. I chose builders white semi-gloss exterior paint to do door frames. For the porch glider I wanted a stain, and I told her the color I was wanting--a burgundy. When I arrived the employee came out with a lot of shades of burgundy stain samples. I chose one and she went in to mix the color. Fortunately, everything I wanted was 30% off, and I had a 10% coupon from online. I gave her my credit card, and she brought out everything. The addresses of the stores are confusing on the website, and HQ should fix them. This is the Chagrin Falls Store. The store on Aurora Road is the Bainbridge store. Employees at both stores, because I went to the wrong store, said customers every day get the stores mixed up due to the website. I would think this is an easy fix for IT.

It is very clean always, tons of help, and a great location. Each employee I've worked with have been patient with me as I try to make a decision on a color and they also helped me decide if I wanted to wallpaper in the future or not (they have wonderful wallpaper choices too that many don't know about). The service is great here but be aware since it is a popular location, it tends to be crowded but they do their best to keep the line moving. Go in the mornings or mid afternoon. During rush hour seems to be the busiest. The reason I am giving this four stars and not five is that I called in the morning to ask a few questions about getting paint for the outside of our house for touch up. When I asked if I should get Satin or Flat and what is normally used, the person on the phone said "Ma'am, I do not know, it is not my call, it's your house" in a very annoyed voice after I asked three questions before hand trying to figure it out. I understand it is early in the morning, but they are open and I would expect great service like I always have but I explained to the man on the phone that I apologize for pushing his buttons and I'll take my business somewhere else. I was very disappointed with the above interaction I had with the sales associate because I have always had a great experience there where the associates and managers were always very helpful and always lended a hand in helping me find exactly what I am looking for. I really hope the man I spoke to has a better day and treats his next customers with more respect. Other than that one instance, great store with some very nice employees.
