Even though today for my errand I was just running in here to get trash bags the staff was very friendly and polite and the store was very clean and well stocked I always enjoyed coming to this Ace Hardware as the staff is always fun to talk to and they are very helpful I would definitely recommend this Ace Hardware down on Manchester Road in the Acme Plaza or I think it's called Portage Lakes Plaza I will definitely be back to the store for future stuff. read more

I have been going to Ace Hardware stores with my mother for as long as I can remember. Now as young home owners, my boyfriend and I are taking on new challenges that require trips to our local Ace Hardware. We encountered a leaky pipe in our unfinished basement and decided to tackle the project ourselves, albeit our limited plumping knowledge. We had some unsuccessful attempts going elsewhere for parts and decided to give Ace a try. This evening we ran into the lovey employee, JIM, at Hoffman's Ace Hardware. He was helpful and friendly and was able to assist my boyfriend and I with his 20+ years of plumping experience, and we could not be more grateful! This store is always clean and well stocked with welcoming employees. read more

Posting for a friend: "Was standing outside, social distancing, waiting for my turn to enter store. Four other people outside also waiting. Everyone was scattered - there was no line. Employee came out, yelled at me for where I was standing, told me to get in line. There was no line. I moved behind another customer, social distancing six feet away. Customer I stood behind put his hand up at me as if I was too close. I told him I knew what six feet is. He called me an a-hole. Then manager came outside, told me to leave and never come back." My comment: If your store is limiting the number of people who are allowed to enter, why not do what so many other businesses are doing and make a sign as to where the line should begin and mark the sidewalk ever six feet where you want potential customers to stand. There is no reason for an employee to be so rude to a customer who was just minding his own business, social distancing, waiting his turn to enter the store. Shame on you. Had to give a 1 because you can't give a 0. Got a gift card it had $250.00. Used it on December 11th at this location. Had $140.55 left on the card. December 27th went to the Ellet location and was told there was no money on the gift card. The manager who knows me very well called customer service and they said that the gift card was deactivated even though they can see there was still a balance. Into further investigation they said an employee deactivated the card. Today is January 4th and I still don't have the money put back on the gift card. I have been in contact with customer care fraud department and talked to multiple people Lisa, John, George (supervisor), Marce all saying that it would be 24 hours to 2 days before they could put the money back on or issue another card (6weeks). It has been over a week. So it's ok to STEAL money from customers. I have contacted BBB as well. Please beware getting gift cards from Ace Hardware. read more

Great, locally owned hardware store. The staff is always friendly and willing to help you with any of your needs you may have when there. The store is always super clean and easy to navigate. Prices may be slightly higher than big chain hardware stores but not by much, plus the employees are much nicer and tentative you the customer!! read more

Ace is the place for the crabby, not so helpful hardware woman. Small return with no receipt. Go into first register as always for return specially since I had no receipt. She turns from next register and says "that registers not open." (No kidding the lights not on) "I have a return". "Well you can go to any register that's open". (Oh, you mean one with a light on? No duh) "ok". In line with one guy in front of me and she says "don't you need to get other stuff"? "No". My turn up. "Do you have a receipt?". "No". (Crinkle up face)"Well did you use a rewards card?", "No, can you look it up with the CC I used?", "(sigh of disgust), No, a manager would have to try....." I picked up the two pieces and said "nope, don't bother it seems like I have put you out enough with all the attitude (as I'm walking out the door). I'll eat the $6-$8, hell even $20 after that and take my hardware shopping elsewhere. I'm 8 minutes from Ace and 20+ mins from Lowes or HD. I'll spend the extra money in gas because if I have a return at either of them I don't have to keep and store silly pieces of paper, they simply ask if I know what card I used and wolla here's your refund have a nice day. And both those stores actually tell you where to go for returns. Now, in writing this seems minor but unfortunately we can't put attitude in print to easy. read more
