On the work date, they arrived on time and finished the job in the amount of time promised. They left the job clean and thorough. I would highly recommend Sal's Roofing not only for their quality of service but for their value for work needed. Late to the…read moreappointment, required multiple follow ups, and I still have not formally received repair photos and an inspection report as promised - ghosted. Had a roof leak coming from the roof valley & chose Meyer Roof Company because Cory, who answered my inquiry, offered to tarp the roof for free right before a rainstorm, which felt like a strong sign of customer care. He also seemed like a personable and charismatic sales rep over the phone. However, from the start, I felt wary about the service. He sent what he described as his "best technician" for the tarp. They arrived later than the ETA, but no big deal because no rain yet. What was odd was that the two technicians who showed up repeatedly expressed their fear of heights and the task, which made me feel nervous about the actual repair work itself. Upon discussing with Cory, I later learned they were carpenters rather than the roof specialists who would be performing the work, but it did contribute to a loss of confidence. When it came time to receive the quote, I asked whether a drone inspection would be performed since no roofing specialist had visited the property to visually assess or diagnose the issue beforehand. I was told that a drone inspection would be conducted, but I did not receive any footage, photos, or follow-up discussion regarding the findings. After I followed up for a quote, I received later that day and asked for clarification on how the pricing was developed. On the call, I was asked the square footage and material, which made me wonder if those key factors were captured from the drone and considered in the quote. I was later told that the pricing was intentionally structured as a comprehensive "catch-all" figure to minimize the likelihood of change orders once work began. We ultimately reached a discounted amount, with a mold inspection and ceiling paint to cover the stain at no charge, (I asked if we should include it in the scope, he said it would be not be written in and would be done as a favor), and we proceeded. Scheduling was another challenge. I was told "Our tile technicians would be able to complete it in one day. We would start at 8 AM to ensure we can complete it by 5 PM." No reminders, no ETA, there was no proactive communication until I followed up nearly half an hour past the appointment time. I was told they were finishing a job in Santa Ana. Eventually a group chat was created with the director of construction and superintendent. I was told they were stuck in traffic, and a representative arrived about 1.5 hours late for an 8 AM start time. Joe, the superintendent, showed up first to re-ask where the issue was located before diagnosing the problem, which reinforced the quote felt more like a general estimate rather than a tailored assessment. Materials were later picked up mid-day from the boneyard, and the actual repair crew didn't show up and begin work until the afternoon. The good news is the repair itself was completed successfully with a water test, and Steven, the director of construction, came and walked me through what was done. He showed me photos and told me they would be provided in a formal report so I didn't have to take a photo of the photo. Regarding the favor, before the repair, I reminded Joe about the mold check and stain painting. The crew kindly handled the stain painting until it was no longer visible, using leftover paint I had - I genuinely appreciated it. Steven said he'd follow up on the mold inspection, but I did not hear back. Despite multiple follow-ups (including in the group chat), I never received the photos nor inspection report and was essentially ghosted - no response. I had called about a week after and they supposedly happened to be talking about me and Cory would take care of it that day himself, but I did not receive anything. I had to informally receive photos from my friend who received them from the actual repair man. Regarding the mold inspection, from the same follow up call, Cory briefly said there was no mold. He had told me the tarp carpenter would be the one handling it, and although the tarp carpenter never came out and I didn't see anyone out there detecting, I let it go because it was not formally scoped. I had hoped this would be the beginning of a long-term relationship, especially for a future full roof replacement, but the communication gaps and missing documentation makes it hard for me to trust the process for a larger, higher-cost project. Overall, the repair got done and some of the on-site crew were kind and helpful, but consistency, communication, and follow-through need significant improvement.

The roof was 37 years old, and we wanted to replace the roofing paper now rather than wait a few years after the panels were in. Second, the solar guys wanted to have shingles under the panels instead of clay tiles which are required by our HOA. Third , we needed to address a couple of issues the inspector identified when we bought our house including wood rot and blocked (and possibly damaged) valleys. Finally, the gutters were a mess, and there were no gutters in a couple of places where they were needed. Wences quote for all the work was very competitive. Our solar guys had worked with them before with excellent results. And their reviews on Yelp and elsewhere are excellent. We are very happy with the results. Solar install went well. Some of the roofing work had to wait for the solar to complete, but the Wences guys were quick to return when that work was done. We had a pretty bad storm with heavy rain and high winds a couple of weeks ago, and absolutely no problems. Even the gutters were quiet (we've had gutters installed in our last house and they sounded like the water was dripping in the house!) We are perfectly happy with the work both by Wences Roofing and by Eduardo from South County Rain Gutter. They are both highly recommended. It is always a relief when you find somebody who not only does a good job themselves, but who can also point you to other contractors who do a great job. Another contractor friend of theirs was able to paint these areas for them because I had hired him to fix my ceiling. Aling gave good advice about asbestos testing of my ceiling, which was negative. He gave me a written estimate, once the asbestos testing was completed, which took a while. Aling was very transparent and patient. Communication was excellent during all stages of the estimate, contract, construction, and post construction review of my re-roofing. I liked the way he provides receipts for the City Inspection and Permit so that you know how much everything costs. There are no surprises. He had no problems fixing typo errors on the contract before we signed. The downpayment and 2 further installments were clear. I did need additional tiles and wood to repair my 54-year-old roof, otherwise known as Change Orders. The unit costs were provided before the work started. Receipts for the Change Orders and Paid Installments were provided electronically. The City Permit and Receipts were the only hard copies provided. Aling has drones to show the roof before and after. Touch ups for the roof paint and stucco were done by the workmen for a couple areas that I noticed, but there were still areas that were not found until after the walkthrough. Broken tiles, most nails, and other refuse were hauled away. Aling walked around my property himself to be sure that no ground nails were left. The rain 3 to 4 days ago tested the roof, which did not leak; paint hasn't peeled. Will wait until the wood dries before spot painting the 2 to 3 areas.
