I normally do not write negative reviews and give the service provider numerous opportunities to rectify the situation. This is an exceptional case and the facts are provided below to warn other potential customers. I encourage you to read this all since this is very well documented. Joshua came recommended by my pool cleaner provider to help with our chlorination system - Jandy Aquapure coupled to our iAqualink online system. Joshua evaluated our newly replaced cell and was unable to diagnose why it read low salt, and recommended replacing it with a Pentair system (saying it was a better system would be compatible and controllable with the iAqualink system) (dated Oct 16, 2019) - I specifically asked him to confirm this before deciding on replacing the system. These are his exact words regarding compatibility with iAqualink, since I have a record of all the text messages: "Yes just did one the other day". After rescheduling the original appt, he installed the Pentair system (3 days later on Tue- Oct 22, 2019) - so far so good. We paid him cash for the install - this was the biggest mistake ever. Later that day, I told him I couldn't see the option to control the system from iAqualilnk. He replied he would come back Thu/Fri (indicating he only had the "two pin cable" and was going to swap out with a "4 Pin cable." Friday (Oct 25, 2019) comes and goes - no show, but he said a guy called in sick so was extra busy, but will swing by Sat morning (Oct 26, 2019). Oct 30, 2019, I texted him again, no response.... Nov 11, 2019, I texted him again, no response.... Nov 12, 2019, I texted him again, no response.... Nov 20, I figured I would reach out to my pool service man since he recommended Joshua. My pool guy apologized and said he would try to reach Joshua. No luck by either of us, after trying many time to reach Joshua... Dec 2, 2019, I texted him again, no response.... I start losing hope, things get busy because of the Christmas season. I know that even in California, there is a two year statute of limitations for breach of oral contracts. In any case, here I have recorded text history. More importantly, my service for this install does not fall within scope of the Statue of Frauds in California - accordingly, text messages may be entered as evidence for the our service agreement [I know this because I'm a licensed California attorney]. Jan 9, 2020, I texted him again (complaining about the inability to control the system via iAqualilnk ... Jan 13, 2020, Text from Joshua: "Good morning this is Joshua I just got your message. I believe your XXXXX's customer we did the slat cell for I will give you a call this afternoon when I headed home. Thanks" [No call] Jan 15, 2020, I texted him again... Jan 24, 2020 (Friday) Text from Joshua "I'll be in your area Saturday afternoon will u be around" I replied "Yes. Please make this appointment it has been a couple month since this has been installed without instructions" [No show - Jan 25, 2020] Jan 27, 2020, I texted him again (letting him know that I may resort to legal recourse for his breach of contract, but wanted to give him another chance) Jan 28, 2020 (Tue), Text from Joshua - apologizing and will come by Friday (Jan 31) Jan 29, 2020 (Wed), I texted him again, and while I accepted his apology for not showing both on Sat, I indicated my frustration in view of the long delay in getting this system running on iAquallink (more than 3 mos by this date), when changing system completely conditioned on that compatibility. Jan 30, 2020 (Thu), Joshua replied and said "I completely understand. I will swing by tomorrow approximately between 9 and 10 to make sure that communication is working correctly. I will follow up with you when I'm at your house. I definitely want to make sure it's working correctly for you." Jan 31, 2020 (Fri), Joshua texted "I still plan on swinging by today or tomorrow morning I had an emergency come up..." [No show - Jan 31, 2020 (Fri)] [No show - Feb 1, 2020 (Sat)] [No messages, no nothing] Feb 4, 2020, I texted him again, no response.... Feb 10, 2020, I texted him again, no response.... Feb 13, 2020, I texted him again, no response.... Feb 28,2020, I find his Yelp page & write this review hoping to help inform other potential customers of my mistakes: (1) Don't work with a service vendor who only has an online presence, even when recommended by a long term contractor that you've used. (2) Don't pay for the service, until you've completely checked out everything is working as described. This was the single biggest mistake I made (3) Don't pay cash Now, I'm going to have to go through the time/expense of seeking breach of contract damages in small claims court and will likely get a default judgement (because I doubt he will show in court under these facts) that will cost me additional time/expense to garnish wages. I have to write some facts I experienced with Joshua for public information. I found Joshua via Yelp since he has a very good rating. However, my experience turned out to be a total disappointment. I called him to come to replace a swimming pool light bulb. When Joshua came he tried to sell LED new lights to me for $2000 a pair. Since I have only one bulb out and replacing one bulb cost $145 and I did not want to spend money for a complete replacement. Joshua then went back to his truck saying to get bulb to replace. But after a few minutes, he sent a message said that had two bulbs broken on ground and he won't go back to storage to get new one. And later on after I asked him whether he will return to do the job, he said he will return next day in the morning. And next day, he never showed up with several messages for all kinds of reasons and finally refused to reply my message to confirm his intention. And then he refused to pick up phone and not to reply my e-messages. I simply asked him to politely let me know whether he is going to come or not so that I can arrange otherwise. But he kept silent....... I don't know what kind of experience other had with him. But my experience just ended today told me that he is not someone who cares about his words and he might be simply interested in large volume business even if the work by nature may not need his customer cost unnecessary money. I wish I could paste the messages here to let people know the entire story. I am sure I will try not to even get close to him as he wasted three days of my time to have to cancel or reschedule my other appointments due to his committed time and no show. Today is July 21, 2017. Joshua first show was July 19, 2017 Below is a copy of my original messages I sent yesterday afternoon to clarify what Joshua complained so called lying. I hope Joshua stays honest. "Ok. Joshua, whether I get back or not I have been expecting your coming for the day and I delayed an appointment to tomorrow for your coming. I might have been on phone or busy not to get back in time. But I am counting on your word. Thanks Carl" "Joshua, apparently you are not coming today. What is your plan? Carl" And no response from Joshua on these messages. The last message was sent 6:28pm July 20, 2017 And I am sure that Joshua had done good jobs which made him highly recognized. Wow! Dynamic Pool & Spa is my go-to source for all my pool service. They are knowledgable, skillful, prompt and courteous. We recently had an intermittent electrical problem that was causing our whole system to shut down... no control of the variable speed pump etc... We had our filter pump go out so I ordered a variable speed pentair on Amazon. Called Josh and he was willing to come out on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend... He changed my board too and gave me a sweet deal... The fact that he was able to do it all so quick was great because the pool had gone almost two weeks without running the water and I didn't want to have any algae build up. There was some hiccups with Jandy and there Iaqualink app, but Josh resolved that for us too. He helped us save some money by applying for the pentair rebate for the pump too. I would not recommend this company. They have no good customer service. I have been communicating with Joshua over the last few weeks. On one occasion he said he would email me back to make an appointment to come over and that never happened. On the second occasion through email he finally responded back and make an appointment but he never showed up or even email me. This is very bad service. I would think if someone that has a business and wants to have jobs would be considerate enough to contact me if they are not coming. This app is required to give stars. Joshua came to fix my common Pentair Mastertemp pool and spa heater. He seemed nice and was less expensive than using Leslie's . Plus, being a retired self employed contractor myself, I always like to do business with owner operators. Josh diagnosed the problem as a faulty HIGH LIMIT switch. He could order one and return, but that would mean a second $65 service call. He showed me the high and low switches and I said I'd purchase and install the high limit switch myself. I paid him. I purchased a switch from Richard ...a great guy and owner of North County Pool Supply. I installed it and it did not correct the problem...the heater would not stay on more than a minute or two. I ordered the low limit switch, installed it, and problem remained. Joshua came out August 30 , 2016 originally. I installed the switches by Sept 30, 2016. Once I'd spent almost two hundred dollars on two switches and problem remained, I called Joshua. In the past six months, I've called him three or four times....trying to have him come replace the ...Motherboard...as this is his new diagnosis. Supposedly, he can get a deal on a good used one. Problem is this...for whatever reason....Joshua LIES about his appointments. At first, I gave him the benefit of the doubt . I thought he was just busy. But now I'm sure after standing us up three times now, that he is simply not interested in giving good, or any service. Keep in mind, I've been very polite on the phone, even with his misdiagnosis costing me quite a bit of money. So, Leslie's will get my business . I would recommend NOT calling Joshua, as he misdiagnosed my problem and had zero regards for fixing it. Initially impressed by Josh and his overall approach to customer centricity. Implemented Josh's suggestions without questioning totaling 10K. With the exception of utilizing non efficient pumps, original equipment worked albeit at a higher operating cost. Upon installing new equipment, I now experience a variety of previously non-existant problems. I was looking to switch to a Variable Speed Pump and got to know Josh from a Craigslist Ad. I called him up and it was quite clear he knows his stuff. Not only he gave me a decent quote and helped explain the associated rebates, he accommodated my crazy schedule and did the installation at 7:00 am in the morning. While he was here, he was kind enough to explain how the system works, changed the hardended wire housing and disconnected the rusted heater which was just drawing water for no reason, ofcourse all that in addition to doing a quick and clean job of replacing the motor. Josh (the owner of Dynamic pool & spa) did an excellent job replacing an old outdated pump with a new pentair variable speed pump. He informed us of an eligible $200 rebate through SDG&E as well, which all we needed to to was email in his paid invoice. SDGE then offered the rebate to us within 2 days either by a prepaid Visa or by sending money to our Pay pal account. It was seamless. While Josh was installing the new pump, he noticed some valves that were worn and no longer efficiently working, he came back out the next week to replace those. Josh is a sincere really nice family guy and really takes pride in his work at a reasonable price. Yes he is very busy and sometimes he will be late to an appointment or will need to reschedule, but as long as you know this going in, he provides excellent communication of his schedule (text is best) and he is worth the wait. "DYNAMIC" is an understatement for the services and knowledge Josh has and provides. Definitely should change the name of his company to EXCEPTIONAL or SUPERIOR because Josh was nothing short of that when helping me troubleshoot my pool's system. Not only did he troubleshoot the problem with my pumping system and heater, he also showed me how inefficient my set-up was and tweaked it to a more optimal setting. Extremely unprofessional. Once Joshua was paid he was unreachable. He made a mistake in the installation. When another professional explained to him the problem he became defensive and never made the repair. I later learned he became very belligerent toward the other installer.In addition, he sold me a faulty valve actuator, covered by warranty, which he never replaced.
