Julian contacted me after a Yelp query - I figured I'd retry and was ready to ship this thing somewhere for repair (again, I tried everything before with no luck). After I explained what was happening, he said, "We'll get you up and running, Tony, don't worry". He heard me out and sent me step-by-step triage and recovery instructions, which worked perfectly. He called about an hour later to check on me, and I was beyond happy he resolved the issue; I didn't have to leave my crib, and it was done within an hour (after letting it sit for years).
