Rather than shell out a bunch of dough to have the truck towed to the nearest mechanic, it turned out to be much cheaper (and convenient) to have someone come and fix the issue on-site instead. Long story short, Ronnie drove out to where my car was and within the span of just a few hours managed to: replace a busted ignition lock cylinder, refill my truck's freon/oil/wiper fluid, recharge my battery, and do some lock-out magic as well. He was punctual, friendly, clearly knew his stuff, and didn't try to sell me on anything that I didn't need. The rate for labor was good too ($85 an hour). I'll definitely give him a ring again if I have any more mechanical issues.

That was frustrating, especially given the circumstances. I had to have a starting device installed due to a legal situation that was handled improperly, so I was already stressed about having to spend this money in the first place. David was very understanding about that, and I truly appreciated his professionalism. Unfortunately, my interaction with the owner was not pleasant. When I spoke with him on the phone, he told me I needed to hurry because he had to "go over things" with me and would be leaving for a few hours. I explained that I didn't need assistance using the device -- I simply needed to pay and pick up my vehicle. When I arrived, he was short and unfriendly. He repeatedly asked if I knew how to use the device, even after I assured him multiple times that I was fine. He then said, "Well, I don't think you'll be able to do it," which felt unnecessary and dismissive. He handed me paperwork to sign with little to no explanation, didn't return my key until I asked for it, and overall made the experience uncomfortable. I walked to my car and started it without any issue. It's disappointing because David provided excellent customer service, and good auto service can be hard to find. However, my interaction with the owner would make me hesitant to return, aside from the required monthly appointments for the device. I hope the owner considers improving customer communication and professionalism, as it would make a big difference in the overall customer experience.

Not only did Jack find me a great deal on tires (one with a rebate!), but he and his sons addressed several issues (ones that I already knew existed) that needed serious attention. To say that they went above and WAAAAAY beyond to make sure my car was fixed that day is so far understated...they even stayed late to fix these issues! There were parts they did not have in stock and Jack sent one of his sons out several times to different locations to pick up parts needed. Speaking frankly, if your needs or expectations are of a place with amenities (nicely appointed waiting room, quick turnaround, etc.), this isn't the place for you. Pete's is a run down, shabby, dirty, one-man, roadside garage. The good news, though--Pete seems to be a very nice, honest, hardworking guy who will treat you and your car right. My initial impression is that he is a reputable, trustworthy mechanic whose prices are more than fair. And isn't that what's most important? NOTE: The name of the business is Pete's Automotive Clinic dba Jake's. Jake was the former owner.
