I've seen two different stylists and have been happy with both. I never have to wait to start my appointment, which is appreciated. Everyone is very friendly, and the salon itself is quite beautiful. I wasn't going to chop it off without making sure that was taken care of. After searching for a while this place had the most affordable Keratin option. I've done Keratin for years in Miami, FL but hadn't found a trustworthy salon in Pittsburgh. I've had a couple rough experiences w/ cuts and coloring over the years here. Due to COVID I had to get my hair done locally and I have no regrets. Nikki was super nice, friendly, and gave me exactly what I asked for. My cut - which I was nervous about because I went from hip length to an angled long bob - looks great! The keratin was great too and my hair is so smooth. I will definitely be back and recommend checking this place out.

Lordie - it took me 4…read morefailed experiences with stylists & countless failed visits (trying to give them a chance to learn/get it right) & seemingly limitless anguish -- but Ashley, at HoG, just might be the real deal! See, I have super stubborn, super course, carpet hair!! I mean, it's wicked hard to cut. I went in with a disaster cut, and Ashley took time to listen to my issues (of which there were many) and talk through what she was going to do to set me on the path to an *eventual* nice hair style! The cut she gave me was 1,000,000,000,000% better than any I've had in the Burgh. It looks and feels light years better. I only say I THINK she's it for me, because remnants of the "bad" cuts I've suffered are necessarily lingering as my hair grows out o& recovers. But Ashley clearly had hair cutting talents in abundance. She's also just a really pleasant, kind person! The salon is cute, clean, & inviting - very "industrial cool." They don't have the front desk/reception area manned, so it can be difficult to get a human to talk to (book online). I went in in person, because I was *that* desperate! Christina was so nice then. She stopped what she was doing, heard my brief description of my plight as patiently, then said Ashley would be great (I'd seen her good reviews online), especially since she (Christina - who is purportedly good w/ course horse hair, too!) is booked out for weeks. They carry some great hair products, as well, and they appear to be quite environmentally conscious- which I love. There's enough street parking if you're there during the day - esp during the week. If you're having trouble finding a salon, you DEFINITELY should give this place a try. Highly recommend.

I requested a blow out with some loose curls and what I got was something I could've done at home in 30 minutes and saved $53. My hair was left frizzy and not smooth at all, which defeats the entire purpose of a blow out. See attached photo. Bad blow out aside, the behavior from Cathy was just so unprofessional and out of line. She said multiple times that my hair was fried even though she had just put very high heat on it, causing it to look that way. She also suggested that I hair cut another time to take care of that. I didn't ask for unsolicited advice on my hair, just wanted a professional blow out. Not only that she made some very strange comments about how Indians (I'm Indian) are considered Caucasian. She's more than capable of keeping this to herself.
