In a small little shop near where we were staying, it was surprisingly one of my favorite places that I stopped by when in NY. My friend who recommended it says he has everyone try it and I was pleasantly surprised. I normally do not like Mediterranean food because I have always had drier meats. However, this place meats was so tender and juicy, and when paired with their hummus and rice, each bite was so tasty. You get to choose two sauces, and I got to get their house sauce and garlic sauce. I personally enjoyed their personal house sauce (which I am almost sure is just thousand island but still good) but their garlic sauce is very strong and garlicky if you are a big fan of that. They give you so much food as well that even after I was starving for the whole day, I could barely finish more than half and was a nice meal the following day. Of course, being a small store, their service is a bit slower, especially if you walk in as most people are getting door dash through this place. They're so good they expanded next door apparently??? The place we ordered at was a little sketch, some flies were just hanging around so I got scared. It was really messy to eat bc of all the oil but the sandwich itself and the pita stood up despite that. Finally around 6:12 I go and ask, and tell them that it says my order has been ready for 10 minutes according to GrubHub. Kid looks again, and goes oh look, here it is. I told him that according to this it's been ready for 10 minutes. The kid straight lies to me and says oh grubhub just says it's ready for pickup even though it's not. THIS IS A STRAIGHT UP LIE. Its so much food you'll definitely be full after eating the whole thing. I had different chicken items they had on the menu which included chicken shawarma, schnitzel and also gad kafta kabab. I added hummus on the side as well as some rice to go with the chicken. They give you pita on the side. Mix it all together or eat however you want and it's literally just perfect. The seasoning on everything was so well done and the meat was very juicy. Normally whenever I have chicken in most Mediterranean places, its dry inside. Not this, their chicken was juicy. The fries were crispy on the outside soft on the inside, the spread super creamy and the falafel balls were huge and fried to perfection. My fiancee ordered the chicken shawarma wrap and added in spicy sauce and fries. The chicken as super tender and well seasoned. We ate outside on one of their picnic tables and ordered some bottled waters. in terms of atmosphere, this place has character and loyal customers instead. You order at a window and help yourself to any open table. I keep giving this place a chance every few months in hopes they will redeem themselves but the service just gets worse. They lack the core ability to follow simple directions or they just do not care about the level of quality they put out. I'm not sure which. Countless times paid add-ons are not given in the order. Falafel, hummus? No. I could add any number of paid (.50c each) extra sauces to my cart, but the order will NEVER EVER include the correct amount or correct sauces. I want to be clear that I am not asking for anything custom or not on the menu. Its really unfortunate because base product you offer is tasty but when you can't get the order correct it begs the question why am I spending my money in a place that doesn't care about me or how I enjoy my food? The cost of this place is already on the higher end for a quick grab and go lunch (this restaurant has been under construction and reconfigured many times over the last two years, so don't think you can sit down and eat inside) with many other inexpensive similar quality food places are in the area and just in walking distance. The first was the Shawarma Mix Bowl (~$12) with Chicken Shawarma and Beef/Lamb Shawarma. For our 2 sides, we got Rice and French Fries. For the sauces, we got Duzan sauce and Garlic Sauce. The second was the Vegetarian Bowl (~$10) with Falafel, Hummus, Baba Ganough. For our 2 sides, we got Rice and Salad. For the sauces, we got Garlic Spread, White sauce, and Duzan sauce. As if that wasn't enough, both bowls are served with fresh, warm pita bread! Honestly, the picture speaks volumes. Every bite of the bowls were delicious. The portion of meat and falafel they give is solid. The rice is plentiful and super aromatic. The French fries were crispy and addictive! The hummus and baba ganough tasted super authentic and I was impressed with how authentic the falafel is. Like yes, it should be on the greener side!! The shawarmas were a bit dry but the sauces turned that into a nonissue. Speaking of the sauces, their garlic spread (the green one) is not the authentic garlic spread I was envisioning. It is packed with garlic flavor and tasted fine but it just wasn't what I anticipated. The white sauce was pretty standard, so you can't go wrong with that. The Duzan sauce is a bit more unique and I actually enjoyed that one the most. Not to mention, usually with a bowl filled with rice, I don't see the appeal in having pita bread on the side but this pita bread is beyond fresh! Dipping it in the sauce is more than enough. The ful, which had a "daal mash" type thick consistency, was very heavy on the garlic, and it was difficult to eat too much. This place is very popular in the area even though there are a few restaurants similar to this one on the same block. I've dined inside in the past and have ordered take out a couple times and I don't think I like it all that much. Get the bowl because it comes with pita and its only a couple dollars more. Their pita is really good. Very fluffy. Their fries are not great. Very thick and soggy with no crisp at all. Super overpowering and just weird. Their spicy harrisah is a lot better. It's a very wet spicy sauce that I had to drown my rice in because their rice is so boring. It's just plain white rice. Even chipotle adds a little something to their rice. And I would understand a plain rice if the entree was super packed with flavor but that was a let down too. I've gotten their chicken schnitzel which is basically a fried chicken cutlet. It's very dry and the outer breadcrumb coating isn't crispy. Kinda tasted super home made. I've had their mixed beef and lamb shawarma which was a lot better. Standard flavors but decent portions. I wish they offered an option with just beef or just lamb. Their service could use improvement. I always know it'll be a wait for my food because of how busy it is but I had to wait a pretty long time when I ordered takeout. I think they need more staff members and to fix their ordering system. They don't let you come inside to order because the place is very small and it protects staff from COVID which I complexly understand. When the girl finally arrived, she told me 10 min. I wished she would have given me an accurate time frame so I could decide if I wanted to order because I was on my lunch break. I realized the reason I had to wait so long to even order because the same girl taking orders had to go outside to give us the food which meant even if my food was ready, I had to wait until she was done taking another order. The falafel on pita is to die for, the falafel is perfectly made, not too soft but also not fry, perfect consistency and tastes amazing, I can eat it forever. The chicken kabab on pita also tastes pretty good but they added too much of the garlic spread on my pita which threw the taste off and also made my stomach hurt an hour after eating. The Chicken Schnitzel Bowl was boring. The chicken was dry, the French fries were soggy and I asked for the sauces on the side bc It was to go and they gave me one of each which was only halfway filled so there wasn't enough sauce for the bowl-- if that's the amount they actually put in it then it's way too fry. The restaurant itself has no AC and looks to be under construction plus they are super busy so manage your expectations when you come, we waited 20mins for our food and it was super hot in there but all in all, we knew what we were in for bc they told us how long it would be from the start.
