He ignored all calls and never answered. I called the restaurant and they picked up and said there's nothing they can do go through door dash. Duzan Vs. Zyara, unbiased review: I went to both restaurants in one day to find out who has the best shawarma on Steinway st. so you don't have to. I ordered a chicken shawarma platter at each restaurant and found that without a doubt, Duzan is the unanimous winner. Don't get me wrong, the shawarma meat and sides were equally good at both restaurants however, Duzan has far superior sauces, much better customer service, and at an astoundingly cheaper price. A new gem in Astoria for Middle Eastern food is discovered. Wow...sums it up. This establishment is serving authentic food in every way. Starting with their Pita bread, made on the premises. You may think that all Pita is the same, but I can tell you that in at his case, they have the absolute correct thickness to hold their falafel and shawerma in place, right to the last bite. The pita surrounds everything perfectly with nothing falling out. One of my favorites is their lamb and beef shawerma, aka Gyro to most. However, shawerma is not made of ground meats then formed. It is layers upon layer of sliced marinated meat or poultry, retaining the original texture of the meat. Very common in the Middle East. If you want a taste of everything order their mixed grill, you will get a taste of everything, and decide on your favorite. I also recommend their falafel for vegetarians and non! Their falafel in pita, is a great meal on its own as they stuff it with a great mix of salad and sauces, and it does not fall apart. If you are going to pick up your food order ahead since parking is difficult. I recommend the driver stay in the car and have someone run out to pick up the food. They are very efficient and the ladies at the pickup door are very friendly. Just let them know you are there and they will give you an idea when everything is ready. This place has been recommended to me so many times and I finally bit the bullet and ordered off of Uber eats. Hands down this was the best Baba Ganoush I've ever had and definitely one of the best chicken shawarmas. Wow! Absolutely amazing!!! This place really blew us away. My fiancé was craving a shawarma sandwich and I thought after a long day at work, it would be best to go grab something instead of make something from scratch. These sandwiches tasted as if they were made right in Palestine and I would agree with the rest of the people on here that these sandwiches are the quality that you would get back home, so is the hospitality. The owner is the most genuine person you'd meet. You really do feel as if you've been invited to a family home to grab a bite. We ordered two chicken pita sandwiches and two mix shawarma pita sandwiches, a side of fries, and a side of hummus. The sandwiches were tender and flavorful but not greasy/oily which goes to show their quality. The hummus was also out of this world. If you've eaten homemade hummus you know the difference between the off the shelf brands and the homemade hummus. I don't believe this review does this place justice. Sometimes you can't explain your tastebuds from how good a place is, instead you need to experience it yourself, so go try it! A friend told me about this place, along with the wait.. back to that later.. and promptly went the next day. Ordered the mix grill which was 16 and change on site (it's 19.xx if you're ordering through a third party for delivery or pickup FYI). Really high quality Mediterranean food. You get a choice of three meats and two sides. Ordered the chicken shawarma, beef shawarma and kofta along with rice. The kofta was my favorite but everything was well cooked so I don't think you can go wrong here. Also came with some pickles, onion etc and a garlic pita bread. The Duzan sauce is basically Russian dressing no clue where it fits in with these flavors. Least favorite part of the meal but luckily sauces were on the side. The white sauce and whatever spicy harissa chili sauce thing was excellent! They should bottle up that spicy sauce. Overall great meal if you're sober, but with King of Falafel in the neighborhood I think I'd go there first because I'm hardly sober lol. On to the bad.. The wait for food is ridiculously long. My friend told me about how great this place was and then she picked up a vegetarian bowl for me and it was delicious. So I had to drag my boyfriend back the next week and get some more bowls. They were so busy on a weekday late afternoon which is a testament to how great their food is. The ordering system took a minute to figure out lol. But once we did, we ordered really quickly and didn't have to wait too long either. Also important to note--the food travels well! It was a short walk home but we didn't eat right away, but when we did a bit later it was still hot and fresh. You can't miss the word "ORDER" stenciled on the ground with an arrow pointing at the open window where you order, then your name will be called when your food is ready for pick up and it will be packaged to-go. Plenty of outdoor seating that are socially distanced. Standouts are the pita bread, creamy hummus, grilled pepper, and grilled onions.
