Az air told me I needed a new air conditioner or a $3200 repair on my current unit. I called another company and the problem was a faulty contactor which az air had installed. The repair cost me $160. To make matters worse AZ refused to refund me the money I had paid already. Stay away from AZ Air! read more

We purchased a new Air Conditioning and Heating Unit through Costco. I was nervous due to the price and difficultly to install. We live in a 3 story condo and the unit had to be installed on the roof. Happy to say I have been extremely pleased with the results after working with this company for several years now. The install was flawless and they provide tremendous yearly maintenance. Joseph, the main technician who services our area, is incredibly knowledgeable regarding the unit and very patient with any questions I have. He also does a very detailed job cleaning the system. Because AZ Air Conditioning is a Costco vendor, I scheduled through the Costco for a technician to come out at a defined time to give me a heating and A/C quote, this company did not call and they did not show up. I contacted Costco a second time and scheduled again, and AZ Air Conditioning did not call and did not show up again. On the third attempt I called AZ Air Conditioning directly and set up a time for the technician to give me a quote, and I received no call and nobody showed up. BIG WASTE OF TIME COMPANY. read more

This is an update from a review I wrote on 6/4/14. Although I still have issues with their customer service in scheduling appointments, we did decide to have them install our new air conditioning unit. I could not be more pleased. The work crew arrived right on time and each person knew exactly what to do. We upgraded from a 3 ton to a 4 ton unit so they had to remove the old duct work, etc. They did it quickly and efficiently and covered everything in plastic so there was a minimum of dust and dirt in my house. They completed the work in ONE day, which is truly amazing. The four other quotes I received said it was a 2 to 3 day job. Once completed, we were walked through the process of operating the system and how to operate the new thermostat. Again, all I can say is that they were a top notch work crew.....from the first presentation (Oscar) it was very professional and thorough. The person running the crew (Willie) was also very thorough and patient....it's nice to know this kind of service still exists. read more

Customer service is not on their priority list. My husband and I requested a quote from Costco, to replace our AC system, and sales reps from AZ arrived and their presentation was great. We decided to contract the company and on the day of installation, the installers arrived on time and there were no problems until they vanished without notifying me. It was a Friday and according to the sales rep, "We don't work on weekends". We didn't expect them to return on Saturday but my husband and I were NOT happy for the following reasons: 1. Trash was left in front of my home 2. Construction items were left on side of my home 3. Some of the vents were unleveled 4. No one bother to notify me the crew was leaving We immediately sent messages to sales rep asking about the status. After no response, we sent pictures of items needed to be fix but NO ONE returned call or texts. The following day, the crew returned. We had to modify our Saturday schedule which was inconvenient for us. It has been two weeks and we have not heard from the sales reps. No response from reps leads to believe I can't trust the company if i need their business again. read more

Billy C. just performed my 2016 service inspection and I'm extremely pleased with he quality of his work. He was punctual, performed a complete and thorough inspection and provided a number of "no pressure" recommendations for my consideration. Presentation was great and installation flawless. This was new installation and very pleased with the results.

I had AZ installed a new HVAC system including duct work on the attic 6 months ago. They suggested a system that qualifies for California energy upgrade rebate that saves me about $1500. Total cost was about $16000. the crew was professional and finished the job in almost the full day. We had about 4 or 5 times of inspection to check the system installed has passed the standard for the rebate. We finally got the check from the rebate about 5 months after the install. Overall it is a pleasure experience and I will recommend AZ to others. read more

AZ installed our A/C system through Costco about 7 years ago. The company has done maintenance twice a year since then at reasonable prices and I was satisfied with their work up to this point. A capacitor failed on the unit recently and I was charged about $550 to replace this $50 part. The work took less than 2 hours. The service tech also recommended a "hard start kit" which cost another $400 to install a second $50 part and was part of the total 2-hour labor. (My unit was down and it was raining and cold so I felt I had to get it fixed immediately.) The charges seemed excessive (or perhaps a mistake) so I called AZ to talk to a manager. No one would return my call. So I emailed the tech who did the work and asked him to have a manager call to discuss. No one from AZ reached out to me. I'm a good customer for goodness sakes so I'm at least expecting a return call. I'm in the process of searching for another vendor to maintain our HVAC in Marina del Rey. read more

STAY AWAY. We found this company through a Costco Kiosk. We purchased a $24,000 HVAC system. The contract included that AZ would obtain all inspections and permits. Although the contract says all inspections and final permit approval will be obtained in 4-8 weeks after installation, we are now at 7 months without final approval. The installation has failed inspection twice now and during the install a worker put his foot through the ceiling in the hallway (from the attic). There have been long delays in getting things remedied. So far, a structural engineering report was needed since they moved the furnace into the attic and didn't know such report would be necessary. Then, a separate attic access needed to be put in (done months later since no one at AZ would respond to our requests). The most recent inspection was July 3, 2017 and they failed again. The inspector wants a drywall barrier in the attic between the garage area and the area where they put the furnace to prevent a fire from spreading in the attic. By not properly installing the furnace in the attic, AZ has left us with a fire and safety hazard. We want them to fix the problems identified on the most recent inspection and get final approval on the permit, but they are refusing. They are abandoning the job without final inspection approval. read more

I had a lot of problems with my A/c and called different companies and no one could find the problem, this company sent me a very experienced technician that found the problem and fix it and since then my a/c works perfect. I have AZ come and service my A/C every year to keep it clean and working...I referred them to friends and family as well. When I had an issue with my repair insurance who claimed my unit was dirty (it was not!) - I asked ZAC the owner of AZ to call them and clear up that I was serviced and cleaned every year...He did! Plus sent out a service person to take pics of my roof unit for proof. I love these guys! In the 7 or 8 years I have used them, they have NEVER tried to upsell me...they did make recommendations to a couple of friends I referred, but they have very old units and I believe the recommendations were warranted, and not just an attempt to upsell. I have 3 neighbors that also use them (we arrange appointments together so one tech comes and services all of us same day) and they also have never been asked to buy or service anything (cause it wasnt needed) -- HIGHLY RECOMMEND this company. I value honesty, timely arrival, and Great Service and you will get that from this company!! read more

The central air in our newly purchased condo in Los Angeles was very old and needed to be replaced (both cooling and heating). The heat pump condenser on the roof with its condensate line, refrigeration line, electric cable, and switch box were all rusted and the air handler (fan coil) inside the unit was also in a poor shape. On top of that, the air handler was located inside the ceiling in the unit entry area with no access to the equipment (all dry walled by previous owner). This was rather a complicated job especially with our time window being about a week. In the mean time, the condo had to be re-painted so the HVAC replacement job had to be coordinated with the paint job. I got two written estimates with looking at the condo and one estimate over the phone. I liked both companies that gave me written estimates, but I easily chose the AZ Air Conditioning and Heating, Inc. located in Van Nuys. First of all, they are Costco Contractors and they are recommended by Costco. Second, they install Lennox equipment with 10 years equipment warranty and 5 years labor warranty. The other contractors offered only one year labor warranty. Third, there was a very generous Costco cash card rebate offer that made AZ overall estimate competitive. Forth, I was impressed with Matt (AZ Comfort Consultant). He was extremely knowledgeable, professional, and friendly, and above all understood my time constraint. He explained to me how they will cut the dry wall and replace the pancake air handler unit (made by First Company) and then install a panel for future access. They will fix the ceiling and make it ready to be painted. Additionally, AZ will get a city permit for the job. The next day, Raul and his two-man crew arrived at the place at 8:00 AM (as promised) and started the HVAC replacement job. They were simply OUTSTANDING. Raul paid so much attention to the details and made sure everything was done correctly and neatly. I was really impressed with their professionalism, knowledge, and attention to details. The job was not easy, but they were equipped and ready for it. They covered the hardwood floors and cleaned the whole area after the job was done. As Matt told me, they replaced everything in the central air system including a new Honeywell touch screen digital state of the art thermostat, a new safety switch, and new circuit breakers. They almost completed the job on the same day, but unfortunately, the ordered panel was a little small for the area. No problem, Raul measured the area and ordered a new panel including a vent area for the intake to be installed the next day. As promised, Raul and his crew came to my place and installed a new panel, patched the ceiling and made it ready to be painted. Again, they were really EXCELLENT. I am so glad I chose AZ for my HVAC job. This was a really good decision. I am sure all the AZ crews are good, but I will always ask for Raul. The AZ Air Conditioning and Heating did an extremely excellent job for me and I sincerely thank Matt, Raul and his crew, and Doreen and Jennifer (who were so nice and helped me with the appointments and schedule reminders) for a job well-done. I also thank Zach and Joe for running such an outstanding HVAC company in Los Angeles area. I truly appreciate the wonderful job you did for us. I strongly will and have already recommended AZ to friends and I will definitely come back to AZ for future HVAC-related work. Yesterday, I got a very nice certificate of the Warranties on Parts and Labor with all the information I needed, a detailed job invoice, and a thank you letter from AZ in a nice folder. I had a new central heating/AC system installed in an older house. There were issues of existing duct size, access, and siting. I was impressed with the salesperson's (David) knowledge of his products, and optimization of the system layout and component choice. The installation crew was also excellent. They arrived on time, covered all of the furniture with plastic, and protected the flooring with tarps. All of this protection was really just insurance since they were very careful to control the dust by sealing the area where they made cuts through the wall or floor. The installation of the components was very well thought out by the foreman. All the components were suspended in the attic to control noise and vibration. Power and plumbing routing were also very well done--the installation was so good that it could have been part of the original construction. Everything was very well hidden--it wasn't done the easy way by running pipe/conduit on outside walls. The whole, very extensive, installation was done in one day. Pricing, with the Costco rebates, was lower than my other quote. I had a third quote, but the contractor was obviously incompetent. I am very happy with the system. I learned about AZ while shopping at Costco and I am so pleased that I contacted them for service. I scheduled a routine service call for the 3 Lennox Heat/Air Conditioning systems that I have in my three unit apartment building. The technician arrived right on time and was GREAT. While the tech was here he introduced me to a very comprehensive annual service contract that covers so much and the AZ customer relations manager called me to explain in detail all the components of the contract. We had a great experience with AZ. They were able to install air conditioning in our home even after multiple companies had told us it couldn't be done. They did the job super fast, within 3 days of coming to our home to give us an estimate, and it was done quickly despite certain structural challenges inherent in our home. Shane, our salesperson, was extremely responsive and helpful even after he had closed the sale. We have small children as well and so were concerned about dust and debris from the work and the installers did a good job cleaning up and keeping the mess to a minimum. We bought our system through Costco for the rebate. We had two sets of friends who did the same thing and said great things. We are so happy with the whole process! In one day our electric meter was completely ripped out and updated. We had the air conditioner unit installed the same day too. Don't be discouraged about having 40 people at your house it was nutty but they got everything done in one day. All the workers were very professional, on time and actually worked very hard! Also the customer service at AZ is phenomenal. They were quick to respond to my texts / calls and emails. Helped with anything and everything. So far so good. My husband and I are new home owners or rather, tiny condo owners. Our AC and Furnace were the original and not up to code. We knew at some point we would have to do something about it and figured it would add value to our home. While at Costco we picked up info for Lennox and had a consult. He came out and was very thorough. Explained everything and gave us a connection to have the asbestos taken care of first. The men from AZ showed up on time. Big deal since I took the day off to be there. Professional and their lead kept me informed on everything or anything that needed to be done etc. They draped pretty much my entire (little) home in plastic to protect our things. Put back any furniture that needed moving, wiped up our floors before they left, showed us how to operate the system, even patched drywall where our thermostat was moved. Had to put in a new intake upstairs and I have to say, it looks great. Our place is just over 800 sq ft., so my only complaint is, I am pretty sure we could provide heat and AC to our entire condo complex. I think it is way more than what we needed and I am adjusting to the sound (of wind) due to the shear force and power of our unit. Or maybe we were just used to the old crappy one but still, I do think its more than we needed for such a tiny place. Otherwise, I sing praises so far. Good job. The inspection will be soon and hopefully it will go just as well. read more

I cannot say enough good things about AZ. These guys (and gals) came through for us in every way possible. Starting from our initial call with Costco for their Lennox special, we were introduced to AZ. I interviewed extensively 4 different companies and ended up ultimately selecting AZ and Costco to do a heating and air install. We put these guys through the ringer for over probably a 4-6 week period (glad they are not writing a YELP on us!). Ryan, the sales lead, who is amazing, and THE most responsive person I have ever dealt with (he would probably text a response to you as he was sky diving out of an airplane!), answered probably 100 questions of mine and came back to my house 4-5 times total. In addition, as we labored over where to put the AC units, we had Jeff, the lead tech, and Kevin, the awesome electrician, come out to our house as well. These guys truly problem solved and found solutions that were not readily apparent in order to avoid unsightly cords and refrigerant lines from scaling our house. Finally, when installation day came, install didn't get our last minute change to put the units on our roof and were once again having to brainstorm electrical and more importantly the AC curbs that go on the roof to hold the units. Since none of their stock curbs would fit they went on to BUILD FROM SCRATCH custom curbs that day and the next. The install took 2.5 days and not one time during any of this process did anyone behave anything but beyond professional. Jeff, Jovani, Kevin and the rest of the install team just rose to every challenge we set. Big thank you to all involved! read more

Working with AZ air-conditioning has absolutely been the worst experience of my life. We bought a very expensive dual zone air-conditioning system that was installed by AZ. Prior, we had had two separate air conditioning and heating units. One for the upstairs, and one for the downstairs. AZ installed a new dual zone unit and connected the ducts between the upstairs and the downstairs in order to turn it into one air conditioning unit that can be zoned separately. Since the installation, every time we have called them for service we get attitude we are told we have to pay service fees even though we are under warranty. I've called back several times to get clarification on the fees and happen to get somebody different on the phone only to find out we don't have to pay the fees we were told we had to pay - it seems there's no order to what they say on the phone you can speak to two different people and get two different pieces of information. Every time they come out they want to charge $150 to replace the filter. Sometimes the filters are not due to be replaced. The worst part is now we are selling our home and our ducts did not pass the home inspection. In the locations where the upper and lower ducts were connected the ducting has come apart and they are not wrapped properly. We immediately called AZ and asked them to come take a look, they said they could not and would not come take a look because they "did not ever touch the ducting in our home". It is appalling to me that they would state such a lie. Whenever you install an air conditioning unit you touch the ducts in order to connect to it. When you install a dual zone unit in replacement of two separate units you absolutely are touching ducts in order to connect the upper and lower ones together. Here we sit in escrow paying for the ductwork to be repaired while AZ has completely ignored our phone calls, our emails, a direct reach out from our realtor and a complaint through Costco. Never, never, never, never, never, would I wish this experience on anybody nor would I ever recommend AZ air conditioning. read more

Another example how a contractor can be unprofessional in so many areas at once. AZ Air Conditioning had a somewhat large project done for my best friend. I used to be a independent contractor for years, so she called me to inspect the work done on her kitchen (by a different company I reviewed in one of my previous reviews) and the Lennox central AC system done by AZ Air Conditioning. I'll try to explain this as simple as possible; imagine that you're having your home remodeled. Now imagine that they didn't use wood, but cardboard. Well, that's how AZ does their job. When in doubt, duck (tape) it! Whenever they hit a brick wall (figuratively or no) they duck-taped the damn thing. Very messy job, I'll be surprised if the whole thing lasts a winter... read more

I made the mistake of going with AZ thinking since they were associated with Costco they should be a stand up company... boy was I WRONG!! They send out the sales guys that tell you they don't nickel and dime you, that the initial price they give you is it... that is until everything gets Installed and not working properly. I had to pay another $1,500 to get my intake fixed and then had to fight with the company to get my costco credit back for the extra amount I had to pay. They also tell you financing is easy and you pay what you can each month with free financing up to 18 months.. again incorrect.. it's over $500 a month and that doesn't include your power bill costs. Another thing they failed to mention was that after you get your HERS inspection you would have to get a final inspection through AZ to get your final permit, and had my friend not told me this I would have had to re-file and pay more money to get my unit permitted. Buyer beware.. there are a lot of cheaper companies out there... my mom with a much bigger house paid half what I did! read more

I contracted them through Costco. They came without their lead installer. The crew did not know where the compressor going to go despite the fact they should have asked for permit from the city of Santa Monica. Then they said they have to open a new attic access despite the fact the initial estimator told us that the attic access was sufficient. Then the new compressor will come out of the area we designated by eight inches out which blocks part of the yard despite the fact the estimator told us that the compressor will flush against the wall. If this is not enough they brought 88,000 BTU unit beating instead the 90,000 BTU unit they sold me. I paid them almost 18,000 dollars through Costco for complete HAVC system. I objected and they said I do not understand the input to the unit 90,000 BTU and Output is 88,000. I told them input does not matter what comes out of the system is not enough flow. They cancelled and left without reconnecting my old HVAC that they disconnected. The office staff were rude and unprofessional and the whole thing to them was to get my money. I cannot believe Costco allows such company works under its name. read more

Ya all the bad reviews are 100% correct. The bad got started right off the bat with the first phone call. I am pretty surprised Costco contracts with these guys. I made the "mistake" of mentioning that we were in escrow for the home we are planning on closing in a week. We actually have a closing date, removed all our contingencies etc....etc...but needless to say that shouldn't something we have to explain to a cooling company. Because we are in "escrow" though they wouldn't even bother to schedule the appointment to come out. They claimed they would need to see our names on the deed to the house as well. Absurd? I think so... Do you need to see my birth certificate too? How about my passport? Maybe bank info as well? I'm sure they will claim something about liability etc, but all we want is an estimate. Being in escrow isn't a problem for ANY other company we have spoke to and we have contractors and cooling professionals lined up to give us estimates next week who are happy to seek our business. The lady on the phone also questioned who we had coming when I said other cooling companies and contractors...like I was lieing. Nope, not lieing, our business will be spent elsewhere and judging from the other review responses AZ has had a "busy year' so I doubt they will miss our business. Keep the outsourced calls cranking out the bad service! Time for a follow up call to Costco to tell them to stop contracting to these guys next. read more

I've seen these guys around my neighborhood before and my air conditioning went out a couple days ago. I wasn't to sure if I should call based on the reviews I have seen. But I thought I'd give it a go, and I really wish I didn't. I was debating if I should even post this but it did leave me with a sour taste in my mouth. Firstly I've worked in customer service for a while and the representative I spoke with was not very professional or helpful at all. She did not answer any of my questions and was very off putting with how she was speaking with me, I don't know much about air conditioning if I may add. She spoke way too fast I really couldn't even grasp any of the information I could get from her. I decided not to go through with any service based on the interaction alone. I don't know if it was just a bad day and they are crazy busy but I think if you can get ahold of anyone other than Amy in the morning you might get better customer service. Sorry but that's my biggest impression is the way you speak with a customer and more importantly a new customer trying to give you business. read more

My husband and I hired through Costco an air conditioning system. The entire process from the free estimate tthrough the installation of the unit and the final inspections have been professional and customer oriented. The installation was done by AZ Air who were prompt upon morning arrival, a trained, efficient and supervised team who installed the complete unit in one day. The team was tidy in preparing the working areas in the house with drop cloths and taping down runways. They needed to cut out some hedges outside in the garden for the compressor and cleaned up the entire area before they left. A customer representative called the day before and sent me emails so the thermostate would be registered with Honeywell in order to program the unit with the installer who explained how to set the timer. We now have an application on our cell phones too to manage our air/heating systems. Following the installation an independent inspection was done and we are currently waiting for the city inspector and a rep from AZ for the final inspection to pull the permit. This was an easy process, the price was right and we look forward to being comfortable during the hot and humid summer months ahead. Who'd ever think that beach residents would need air conditioning here in the South Bay?? But with global warming the climate is heating up sorry to say. read more

My system was installed October 2014 this is by far the worst company you could do business with. One technician came out in January of this year said he wrote down system was working fine. Called back in February because water was leaking into my walls, AZ sent 2 technicians out they said the drain pan was leaking,They would order the part in 3-4 days. Robin called three days later and scheduled an appointment for six days later. I asked them what was they going to do about the water, mold and mildew in my walls, said someone would call me back. Monique called and said she was sending out a more experienced technician Ruben came today, did not check the system said i had water in my walls because the outside of my house was wet and i needed insulation, he did not open my walls so he did not know what is in my walls, he also said when i turn my heater on it creates moisture in the walls, Ruben then said the system on my roof has nothing to do with the water in my walls.I called COSTCO to report what was said and one by AZ air conditioning and heating, waiting on a response from them I also hired a home inspector. read more
