You'll get ripped off! Grout is already falling apart in both of our showers! We've only had it redone for only a few months! Total crap

We have the family plan with Dutton where they come out once a year to do an inspection on such things as proper water pressure and a hot water heater flush. Rich B. came to our home to do the inspection this year. What a great guy! Very friendly, clean looking, and professional. We had a similar experience last year with another Dutton tech. Its obvious that Dutton invests in their image and reputation with the quality of people they send to your house to fix and or inspect things. Worst rip off ever!! As I throw away the service agreement , list of receipts from work completed ,overcharged and stiil the problem of a smell was never corrected. Dutton was about to charge me a (discounted rate of $6173.11)for repiping after they mismanaged ,and wrongly diagnosed a problem .that had been going on for over 6 months. they had different technicians within the company contradicting each other (not all were bad ,just a badly run company) cameras that they don't give you a dvd to watch (something I was told after is comen practice),and very inflated prices . As it turned out the smell was coming from within a wall where there was a vent compleatly open ,something I had asked dutton if it was possible,but they never considered to cut a small drywall opening to check,as apposed to replaceing a pipe at huge expence. The pipe under the house that I did have replaced by another company was probably not nessesary at this stage but was old so who knows but on a 2nd opinion was told they would never do it the way dutton had planned as it would have risked breaking up under the concreate slab as it was too close to the surface of the floor and we would have had holes in both the kitchen floor and the living room.And a 2 inch pipe that would not have been suitable anyway. The cost of the pipe and discovering the real smell problem $4000 no holes in the floor ,much bigger pipe smell gone and all finishing work . If you have money you don't need or want, then this is the "COMPANY" for you! Kudos to them for a great front office manner and great PR efforts -- but I think it really is just part of their con. We needed a new johnny ring for one toilet. Requires four bolts be removed, the old ring removed, install a new ring and replace the toilet. Even at sixty years old and with a bad back I think I could handle the job in less than an hour! They wanted $441 for the job, after of course trying to sell us a new toilet for $1,400-$1,600. Real plumbers are coming to do the job later today for around $120. Apparently, with all the five star ratings these people get, there is a plethora of either very dumb or very rich people who love their service. read more

This was the first time that we used them and to be honest our project could not have gone more smooth. They came out on a Saturday to clear out main sewage line and ran the camera down. I knew we had an existing problem which they quickly found. He gave me a price to dig an 8 foot deep hole to get to the line and repair the issue. The crew that came out on that Monday morning started the project. They were very professional and friendly and did a great job. There was no up selling just providing exactly what was promised. Not my favorite way to spend money but I'm happy that we went with them. read more

Jay came out the other day to clear a clogged drain. It was completed promptly. He also showed me a section that was rusted and needed to be replaced. He had the part and completed the job promptly. I have used Dutton Plumbing for years now. Our house is 56 years old so has needed repairs. Dutton has replaced the sewer line as well as several other jobs. They are reasonable, arrive on time and are easy to identify. They are always neat. They put boots on to protect the floors and always leave the scene in a clean condition. When it comes to plumbers I don't need to worry I just call Dutton. read more

Watch your wallet if you have Dutton do the work! Called them for leak detection - we had a small amount of water on our kitchen floor. The service man pulled the base plate off the dishwasher, found the solenoid was leaking. Time elapse:: 3 minutes. Then he gives me an estimate for a "minor toilet rebuild" - $224.00! Then he recommends replacement of the water pressure regulator - $1,100.00! And that was after a "senior discount!" The charge for finding the leak (no appliance repair) - $169.19! Not bad for 3 minutes of work. It took the guy longer to write up his bill than it did to find the leak. I wouldn't have minded a standard fee of around a hundred bucks, but $170? We got hosed this one time. Hope the service man had a good laugh on the ripoff he had just pulled. The company will never get another dime of our money - or that of our friends and neighbors we tell this same tale of woe to. Recommendation to Dutton: Charge fair, honest, moral fees. Wow , I guess I am the only one who has gotten good service from Dutton. Kevin K has done a number of plumbing jobs for me including installing a garbage disposal a few days ago. Every time I got a excellent job done with care and checked carefully to insure the problem was fixed or the unit was installed and operating as it should. They are not low price but they are good and clean and careful. In my experience Kevin is a skilled and honest man and I am always happy to see him when I have a plumbing problem. read more

I called cause the shower knobs were leaking. They came fixed them and 35 days later the knobs were leaking again., I called and they came the same day explained to me what had happen on the first repair and fixed them, no charge. The technician was very professional. I understand that some times in business there are mistakes but what counts is how you take care of them. Thank you. read more

Dutton Plumbing is a rip off. Do not use this plumber. They try to charge to repair a broken 3/4 PVC line for over $750+emergency charge (a job that another plumber took less than 30min to complete). They are a total rip off. Get someone else. read more

These reviews must be from relatives of the Dutton Family. We ran into a sewage plumbing problem. Dutton came out and wanted to repalce the sewer system to the main line ata cost almost $14,000 or replaced the connection from the house to the beginning sewer connection at a cost of $2,500. They asked if I was a veteran, offered financing etc. Far too pushy for my money. They even called out the Supervisor to try and make the sale. All the while making me more suspicious. I finally backed off. Called another plumber. They said all I needed was a sewer connection from the house to to where the sewer starts just beyond the wall. They also recommended cleaning the lines of the tree roots. Total cost $1,050.00. They would even take $200.00 off if I dug the whole. Dutton is NOT to be trusted in any way !! Do not trust these people. Get a 2nd opinion. read more

Flaky and suspicious !!! Didn't even get a chance to receive a quote from this flaky business. We called on a Saturday morning and scheduled for someone to come out 3-5pm that day. We get a call hours before that scheduled appointment saying that the plumber ran into an emergency and can't keep the appointment but can come out the following morning 9-11am. Fine we make the appointment because we need someone to come out to check a leak ASAP. Next morning ONE hour before scheduled time on Sunday they call to say that the plumber is not working today !!! What ?! They didn't know that yesterday? I'm sure they did . And because we wasted an entire Saturday waiting for their crack- operation to show up , we will have to wait until Monday for a competent company to do the work since most plumbers don't service calls on Sunday. Don't bother even calling this business for an estimate, they'll make the appointment and just not show up!!! read more

I am a young, single mother and Dutton's technicians basically tried to rob me. A 5 or 6 inch piece of exposed PVC pipe between two connectors on my sprinkler valve broke. I called Dutton and they sent their technician Matt out with another tech (not sure why they sent TWO people when I told them it was literally just a piece of PVC that needed to be removed and replaced). If I knew how to deal with the blue PVC cement I would have fixed the damn thing myself. So Matt and tech 2 show up and tell me "Oh, yeah that's an easy fix. We'll just have to dig around it a little bit and I'll charge you the exposed rate so it won't be as much for you." Tech 2 is in the grass kicking a soccer ball around with my daughter. They're really laying it on thick getting my guard down. So... now it comes time for them to rig up the invoice and get my signature... $450!!! Are you kidding me?! At first, because I have no idea what I'm doing, I was going to agree to it. Thankfully my roommate got home in the nick of time and told them that we would get a second opinion. My father came by and fixed it in less than 10 minutes. Dutton was going to rob a young, single mother of $450 for a $5 piece of PVC, some PVC cement, and 7 minutes of labor. The only reason I'm not giving Dutton 5 stars is because there was some problem with getting our technician out for a couple of days. However, Dan, who was our plumber, was absolutely wonderful. He apologized profusely for the confusion, was very friendly, fixed our problem in a timely manner and didn't charge us for the service because of the difficulties they had getting someone out. In the end, I believe they are a very customer service oriented company and quite professional. Well done, Dan D.! You earned five stars in my mind. read more

Do not call these guys! It's a waste of your time. I had an emergency leak at 6:15am. They advertised 24 hour emergency service and they will be there in one hour. NOT TRUE. Since it was an emergency I purposely called them so I can have a repair tech within one hour. They said a tech would give me a call within 10 minutes of calling the main line. Twenty-five minutes later I still hadn't received a call. I called back 3 more times and was put on hold by an automated system. I was on hold over 4 minutes each time finally frustratingly hanging up. Fourty-five minutes later I received a call that a tech was still was going to call me. Screw that I immediately called another company and they were there in about 70 minutes. DO NOT advertise what you can not provide. Emergencies should be taken seriously. read more

We had an emergency water backup in our downstairs bathroom. My wife asked Dutton to come out and they did. They told us that the charge to snake the line and use a camera if necessary would be $229.00. If there was anything out of the ordinary, they would let us know before performing the service. They found several things they demanded be done immediately (without estimates). They found a blockage in my sewer line in the common area of the HOA. Thank God it was outside my garage. They said that the alley would have to be dug up; we would have no water until it was done. They did not give me a price for that either. They replaced a water pressure regulator (which they said was causing damage to my home and needed immediate attention) and a bathroom sink and faucet while they were waiting on the HOA to approve the tearing up of the alley. When the HOA did not give expeditious approval, they had me call the HOA back. The HOA had received a written "estimate" for the job without any price!!!? They quickly told the HOA that their estimate would be over $8300. Luckily the president of the HOA knew that their company is untrustworthy. He sent a different company to come out on overtime to "get a second opinion." This company snaked out the "blockage" at their first try, but stayed around for two hours testing everything in the water lines. This company even pointed out that Dutton had mistakenly connected the water pressure regulator (upside down!) so we had only intermittent water pressure. This second company's charge for the entire event was just under $200. [I am not mentioning the company only because this man also confirmed that Dutton was untrustworthy.] Just before Dutton left they had me sign the bill (really just a screen on an iPad type device) without a breakdown for over $3000!!! The worker said the invoice would be sent to my email almost immediately. I know that we had talked about all kinds of things, but I asked the man for a breakdown because I did not understand how the bill could be so high. Very soon after the man left I received the email and "invoice." There was no explicit breakdown of the charges. I spent several phone calls that night to no avail. They next day an office employee sent us another worthless "invoice" after "talking with the manager." [BTW, a Dutton worker, supposedly the supervisor of the person who worked in our home, could not (or would not) tell me where the Dutton office was located.] As far as I can tell, they charged me over $3000 to attempt (and fail) at snaking out my sewer line, installing (incorrectly at first) a new water pressure regulator, and a Kohler (not the top of the line either) bathroom sink and faucet. They have refused to give me a breakdown on any of the services. I just now found the above address (on Yelp!), so I can at least convey my displeasure in person. Wow!! That was definitely premature on my part. gave a great review on the promise they would return & fix our faucet problem. Did not happen. I was told it would be another very large charge. the repair only lasted I day then no hot water from faucet. they returned to see why & said it was my problem. Ya, over $400.00 spent for this. Moen sent new faucet under lifetime warranty & had another plumber install it, LLoyds. all for $140.00 That all I wanted done in the beginning, make the wife happy. m Not all the upselling & damaged stucco for a hose bib that only needed a repair. & the hoses that needed to be replaced!! didn't exist. & my water pressure inside home. is just fine & not too high. OH, & when I needed a call back from Kurt on their service warranty. DIDN'T HAPPEN. Lesson learned. that's why I waited to post this. & not give out early praise.. read more

I didn't even get to use their service as the customer service before they came out was so bad! I called on a Tuesday night because my kitchen sink got backed up. I wasn't expecting someone to be able to come out that night as it was already late. However they didn't have any appointments available until Thursday afternoon! I decided that was ok, and made the appointment. My husband took the afternoon off to meet the plumber at our house between 4-6pm on Thursday. At 3:50 PM they called to tell me that they were backed up with appointments and would not be able to make it out, and would a MONDAY appointment be ok?!? MONDAY!?! That would have been nearly a week since my initial call! UM NO! Thats not ok...thanks but no thanks! read more

Was pleased the first time I used them. This time though they came to unclog toilet line. They snaked it and called for a camera/field supervisor to camera the line. He told me had a cast iron pipe that was no good. Without hesitating told me cost was $20,000. He then told crew to keep tryning to unclog drain and left. Second attempt to snake line cleared it but crew told me to not use bathroom because of cast iron sewer line. following day called for second opinion and new camera inspection. Inspection showed completely cleared out and round line. No problem using toilet or bathroom. Second plummer told me they should have re-camered the line after they cleared it. I Called them Friday night to unclog a toilet and a slow draining bathtub, they told me that dispatch would call me in the morning, to give me the time the plumber will arrive, the next morning the called to say plumber will be out between 9 am and 10:30 am, and then I got another call that they where running late and they will be there between 12-1: 30 pm, finally they called to cancel and that they will not able to send a plumber until Monday??? What do they expect me to do with only one working toilet that is now plugged? They should have been honest with me from the beginning, they knew early on that they wouldn't be able to service my call, Just be honest and don't waste my time, I could off called other plumbers early on, by that time it was to late for any plumber to come out on Saturday evening, I had to call another plumber that charged me a lot more cause is now considered an emergency call, which I paid them to come out Sunday morning, I do plan on taking Dutton plumbing to court, its not about the Money is about the principle. read more

It started with poor service from the live chat and subsequent calls. I was never called back so I called back. I was told they made a mistake with the phone call with me and another client. The called back and told me I will have a serviceman within one hour. Ten minutes later I got a phone call from Dutton saying Mr. Fisher I said that is not my name, the technician would be in one hour. I told her the text said Felix Marin would be at my house at 3:30 pm. At 3:15 I got a call that he would arrive at 4:00 pm which came and went. Prior to 4:00 pm I got a call stating that 5:30 he would be at my house. At 5:20 I got a call from the supervisor saying they can't make it today or even tomorrow and that maybe Saturday. I told him don't bother. I said I can waste another day with a weak promise of maybe we can come over. He offered me a $50 credit but the commitment didn't change. The rate the customer service on a scale of 1 to 10, and Dutton Plumbing at a minus 10. Never call them they are flakes. I wanted to make it worse but it wouldn't let post without one star. read more

I used this company about 8 months ago for a drain problem and the tech came out and did a great job messy but cleaned everything. Now fast forward to August 28 called them out for basically the same problem drain and 2 guys showed up very friendly and professional I tried to let them know the way this drain usually gets cleaned,since I know my house, but they wouldn't listen then another guy showed up and the whole dynamics of the job changed this guy took over the whole show telling me that I had a broken mainline pipe under my house and then proceeded to give me a quote of $6500.00 . 2 days later I called another plumber out to get my drain unplugged and lo and behold this guy took my suggestion and snaked it from where I had told Dutton to clean it out from and my drain was clear saved myself $6400.00 on a job that Dutton told me I had major issues (not true). My wife and I are retired and live on a set income, for a company to do this to people is really shameful and downright dishonest. I know grandma would be ashamed. read more

Found this company in the Yellow pages of course. They quoted $39 just to show up and that it would be applied to the cost of the job if we agreed. Called Mike Diamond and they wanted $75 to show up. Dutton said they charged by the job not the hour. Bottom line the Dutton guy looked at the problem and said it would be $235. We agreed. It took him 10 minutes tops to fix it. The rest was paper work. When we asked if it will be less given that it was so quick? No. They still want $235!! Beware. If a company charges by the job they will jack up the price hoping that it will take them less than one hour. Lesson learned, if you have a simple job ask for an hourly rate. We essentially paid $200 for less than one hour of service on a week night at 7 pm. Did I mention the job. It was replacing leaking end cap on a 1/2 inch line. TOTAL RIP OFF!!! This is the second time I've used Dutton -- same technician too. The work got done efficiently both times, BUT the costs were astonishing. Lots of upselling. Unfortunately, I fell for it the second time because I was desperate -- the kitchen sink was so clogged it shot drain cleaner out five feet. Technician's Brad F, Ryan J & Cody. Ryan & Cody came on Aug 18th for a toilet issue we were having. Ryan gave me 3 options I chose to replace the part only. Cartridge replacement $355.90 Later that evening we left for a few hours & upon returning home our garage was flooded. My husband & I just stood there, thinking it was the toilet in the master & then ran upstairs to see what damage was done to the inside of our home. Thank God nothing. It was not the toilet. The water heater in the garage blew. We found a note from our neighbor that he had shut off the main water valve to the house. I quickly called Dutton & Brad came out. He was here for sometime. Now we needed a new electric water heater to the tune of $1776.49 I did speak to Brad about the price since I went online to look at the price of water heaters at Lowes & Home depot which were much cheaper. Dutton is a bit expensive, however I do appreciate the time all 3 technicians took to explain the repairs. They are all very knowledgeable & professional. I love that they wear shoe booties, no matter the color. (Pink just happens to be one of my fav's) I will use Dutton Plumbing in future. Thanks guys for getting the job done. :) Now my battle starts with the DWP for however many gallons of water they will claim I wasted. I had a very bad experience with Dutton plumbing in Santa Clarita. Two years ago I had them out to ck for a leak. They canvased the property and found no leak, but several things needed fixed. After the $900 visit I vowed never to deal with them again. Fast forward 2 years and I needed them to look at a water pressure regulator because other plumbers I contacted said there should still be a warranty with Dutton. Long story short, the explanation I was given to cover their regulator made perfect sense, and explained why I was sold one unnecessarily in the first place.
