THE BAD PART: One kind of chicken (fried) corn was NOT CREAMED AND WAS TOUGH LIKE FIELD CORN, lumpy mashed potatoes with dried skin on top. VERY SMALL BUFFET AND NONE OF THE FOOD WAS MEMORABLE. 3 tables had customers seated @ noon on a Wednesday. Roast beef was completely shredded (no pieces) Very small salad bar with NO SWEET & sour dressing. Gave us one tiny container of apple butter & one tiny container of peanut butter spread for four large pieces of bread. THE GOOD PART: noodle soup was full of noodles, fresh warm, homemade bread was brought to the table.They had pieces of several kinds of fruit pie & three kinds of cookies to choose from for dessert. read more

I've now been here 2 times and I think the food is pretty darn good. The salad bar is nice and fresh. The hot buffet is also good but not very big. The fried chicken is delicious. It's juicy and flavorful. I also enjoy their stuffing and noodles. This visit they also had sauerkraut and sausages. I will never turn down sauerkraut. I like this Amish buffet because they also have a small dessert bar. Today they had pies, angel food cake, and a very good caramel roll. Their fresh baked bread is also so soft and pillowy. Lunch buffet at Dutch Kitchen. The salad bar options are impressive. I love the chicken. They have a menu as well. The stars of this place however are baked goods. Best Bavarian cream filled sticks I've ever had, and my daughter loves their fry pies. When you enter the restaurant you walk directly into the bakery area. You don't have to eat here to pick up baked goods. They also allow you to pick your selections before you eat and pay for them on the way out. Cute store inside as well. We came in with growling bellies and left with so many takeout boxes because we hardly put a dent in our food! The soup and salad bar: a great value for endless trips to their salad bar. Besides greens and veggies they also had pasta salad, potato salad (the best I've ever had) and cottage cheese. There were homemade croutons and a variety of dressings, plus three soups to choose from. The roast beef sandwich: my husband could hardly eat half, it was such a generous portion! Tender roast beef, savory gravy--it was perfection. The caprese sandwich: everything you could ask for with fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, and basil. The kids hamburger: big enough for an adult, served on a homemade hamburger bun with sweet potato fries We also split a lobster quesadilla--YOU GOTTA TRY THIS! Definitely not traditional Amish food, but totally delicious. Meals are served with a basket of homemade bread, apple butter, and peanut butter. DO NOT PASS THIS UP! I went here for lunch today, and I enjoyed this home style cooking very much. The selection is pretty limited for a buffet at 17.00, but what I did have was pretty tasty. The broasted chicken was very moist, and the roast beef was tender. I am usually not much of a soup eater at a buffet, but the Chicken Florentine was super good. The waitress was very friendly, and the restaurant is pretty big. It has a nice atmosphere as well. If you are in the area, it's definitely worth a try. read more

We expected to have a higher quality of food since they lead you to believe the food is Amish. The cream for the coffee was nondairy and the butter for the homemade bread was a spread. The food was limited to whatever they filled the buffet with. For instance. The chicken was all white meat except for the wings, which were dried out. We did not have any of the items on the menu, we opted for the $16.99 buffet which was adequate. Our table was clean and not in the way of patrons heading to the salad bar. The restrooms were clean. I had went to this restaurant for the very first time and had an absolute nightmare of a visit. It is one thing to be different but to be different and stared at by most of the people as customers and then the employees. The food was plain as can be. I was very surprised that this restaurant's food would be so bland. That was not the biggest problem at all. To be the only chocolate drop in a cup of milk is one thing. Or maybe even a fly in a bowl of milk is another but when it is being shown quite plainly is absolutely disrespectful. Stopped in for lunch while driving through Amish Country. This was our first visit. We ordered a BLT which was served with French fries and Potato, Sausage, Kale soup. The BLT was well prepared and served toasted on their homemade bread. The soup was very flavorful and filling with just the right balance of all ingredients. The seating is open, clean and well lighted. Our server was quick to see us after we were seated and our food came out if the kitchen quickly. This is a nice restaurant attached to a gift shop and has clean restrooms. The parking lot is large with easy access. There is also a large buffet available with salad fixings and home style proteins, pasta, and sides. Including dessert options. The bread is wonderful and the fried zuchinni are shoestring that not had before and good. Service is marginal only because one waitress (nora) is working very hard and the other staff may be a hostess as she only seats and does very little. It is with much sadness & a sense of loss that I write this review. Over the years my wife & I have had many a meal here, & always left full & satisfied. Yesterday's experience changed that. Everything seemed off... different. There was a large room full of Amish/Mennonite folks separated from the restaurant. I am not sure if that affected the service/food, but something did. The part we were in was sparsely populated, yet getting our food after ordering took much longer than it should have. I witnessed other customers have issues-albeit minor-but multiple incidents. The real sadness was the food. The only positive was the mashed potatoes,; good quality & quantity. My wife & I both ordered hot roast beef sandwiches. I had ordered this in the past & loved it. On this visit the beef was flavorless. The gravy...an odd, overly gelatinous mix w/out taste. My guess is that they were using it for both the roast beef & turkey sandwiches...no beef flavor to it. Now, I was not looking for any "high brow" meal. Good, solid comfort food was what I had grown used to here. Sadly, it failed to deliver, and didn't inspire any confidence for the future. Nice quiet place but we did arrive shortly after 4 pm. Hubby got the buffet for $12.89. I got a ham dinner with baked potato and green beans for $12. Nothing wrong with my meal but nothing exciting either. But I guess this isn't the type of place to expect exciting. My cousin and I drove up to Dutch Kitchen from the Columbus area. She is a bit of a foodie and whenever I visit her from Michigan, we try out different restaurants. She was excited to try Dutch Kitchen, despite the 2+ hour drive to get there. When we arrived, there weren't very many cars in the lot, was wondering if they were even open. They were, and we walked through the gift shop and were seated in the restaurant. We ordered an appetizer platter of fried mushrooms, onion rings, and sweet potato fries. The fries were great, the rest were just ordinary out of the freezer items. My cousin ordered the Cobb salad, I ordered the half order of a hot turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes. Her salad looked good, but it's hard to mess up a salad. My hot turkey LOOKED good. However, I was bummed when I discovered the turkey was not sliced turkey like I was expecting, but processed, canned turkey. With canned gravy, little flavor. And instant potatoes. Not exactly what I was expecting when coming to a highly regarded Amish restaurant. We also ordered apple dumplings to go to eat later. When I got home and heated mine up, it was ok. Again, not exactly what I was expecting from an Amish restaurant. Overall, I was really disappointed with my meal. We were there for a Scouting event, and was pleasantly surprised by the service and quality of the food! The servers were very attentive and friendly, and made sure our group had every thing they needed. The food was high quality, very much what is expected for Amish cooking. It did not disappoint. We have had numerous showers, birthday parties, and family get-togethers at this location over the years. As well as many delicious mornings thoroughly enjoying all that the breakfast buffet has to offer. Staff is friendly and competent. The food is classic, simple, tasty and filling. Prices are fair and the restaurant has always been clean on our visits. My hubby & I went here for an early supper after a day of shopping. He ordered lemonade & said it tasted fresh squeezed...impressive! Our server then brought us fresh baked bread with pats of butter but I covered mine with the homemade apple butter that was available on the table-scrumptious! My hubby had the food bar & raved about how good the mac n cheese was. He also tried the fish & said it was better than he thought it would be coming from a food bar. It has been a while since we dined at this restaurant. It used to be a cosy, warm inviting restaurant with decent Amish cooking. The new decor looks like a prison cafeteria. All white walls with no decor, concrete grey flooring and that was it. No one is there to greet you when you walk in. It looks like servers take turns taking you to your seats. We had the buffet this afternoon. The food was tasteless. There was absolutely no seasoning on the corn and beans. They were frozen, boiled and thrown in the containers. The potatoes looked dark and old and tasted like cardboard. There were just a few overdone pieces of chicken which didn't look very appetizing. When I asked to see the manager and told her about the problems. She said flatly that they don't use salt because some people have to avoid it. Really? She also defended the mashed potatoes that tasted like cardboard. There was no flavor to them and it is very doubtful they put any real milk or butter into the mix. I took a peek at the dessert table, and they also looked unappetizing. Small broken pieces of pie and tiny pieces of cake. When I also mentioned it to the manager, she made another excuse about how hard it was to cut a piece of pie. Really? I did eat a salad and a piece of bread. The waitress was attentive and kind. This restaurant really needs a Gordon Ramsey to come in and fix it. read more

You can go to the salad bar and try again." No apology. No offer of a discount. Nothing. This is not a negative review, this just not fit my taste. I try. The staff are friendly and very attentive, but it is too much of the same cuisine as everywhere. The salad bar was a mess, not because of the staff, but people. When I got to the soup all the bowls had some kind of food in them and the manager had to wash bowls that someone decided to dirty for no reason. It is called being disrespectful to the restaurant and fellow dinners. Like I said it is food found everywhere in this area, but the majority want it so that is good. But people need to show respect to the establishment because they have health codes to meet and if food get contaminated by the customers the establishment gets blamed. read more

On a recent visit to P Graham Dunn in Dalton with my friends we decided to grab lunch. We always enjoy the Amish restaurants with homemade soups and salad bars so with this one being just down the road in Dalton it was the perfect choice. Now if I were rating it up against some of the other larger Amish restaurants I have to say the salad bar and hot buffets were much smaller than most. But everything was tasty and well stocked. The soup choices were good and I settled on a delicious broccoli cheddar, light and flavorful with yummy noodles. My friend had chicken noodle and she said it was very good. The hot buffet was ordered by 2 at our table and both said the choices were good and food was delicious. Fried chicken; Ham; roast beef; mashed potatoes and gravy and more. Our waitress was a delight and was so attentive. She made us feel at home and made suggestions on pies for take home. The gift shop and front end bakery were not as well appointed and lacked a certain charm that many of the other restaurants in the area have but the pies and long John donuts looked delicious and next time we hit the Dalton area we will definitely stop back. read more

Dutch Kitchen was a frequent stop for us along route 30! It has grown large with two additional buildings provide specific parties of all types such as weddings, meetings, and so forth! The regular restaurant is large with a large bakery and gift or special item sections in front of the restaurant! The style of the restaurant is basic with western tables and chairs. Comfortable and nice! They have buffet for salads and deserts. Another buffer is for main dishes! I am not sure if that is a daily option than ordering from the regular menu. Of Friday I option for the two buffets! The Dali's had a good variety of salad fixing and two delicious desserts! Next at the main dish buffet for Friday had chicken, baked fish, fried fish, mashed potatoes, two types of gravy, and hot rice with other fixing! Service was reasonable, but server a bit stiff, but did good removing used dishes and offering refills! Wife order from the menu and said it was good, but basic in taste! Restrooms were very clean and orderly! Parking was their private parking which was very large to handle banquets! Handicap parking is available! We was there between lunch and dinner, so they were not busy! Since there are very few restaurants in the area this restaurant can be useful to people that are hungry and in a hurry too! read more

We stopped in for lunch today. It was great! My husband had the hot roast beef sandwich and I had a BLT. His sandwich was huge and had tons of delicious roast been in it. It's not included in the price of the buffet but it will be the best $1.99 you've ever spent. Waitress said fresh peach pie and I couldn't resist. Took a nice afternoon drive with friends and while on the trip passed the Dutch Kitchen Restaurant in Dalton Ohio , and decided to stop and give it a try ........ The facility is a well appointed Amish style eatery which contains a bakery , a gift shop and a pleasant and attractive dining area , where one can either order off menu , or partake of a hot buffet with attendant chilled salad bar . After perusing the gift shop for a while and then peeking in at the scrumptious looking delicacies at the bakery counter , we were promptly seated and given menus . Our waitress , dressed in traditional Amish wear quickly Brought water and then took our beverage orders. ( a choice of Pepsi type soft drinks , iced tea, lemonade , coffee, tea , milk ) the table also contained two complimentary Containers .... one filled with peanut butter , the other with Apple butter . While the menu offered a nice combination of sandwiches , soups , and blue plate specials , We all decided to order the buffet with salad bar , which included freshly baked bread and butter Which was brought table-side by our charming waitress . The chilled salad bar offered shredded lettuce lettuce with numerous toppings , a variety of home made salad dressings , and several other cold Home made sides ( 3 bean salad , potato salad , macaroni salad , pickled eggs , cottage cheese , Peaches , chocolate parfait , broccoli salad Just to mention a few ) The hot buffet served mashed potatoes , two gravies , homemade noodles , green beans , Broasted chicken , shredded beef , three types of sausage , and two other items . ( while the items on the salad bar and hot bar were not as extensive as those found at larger restaurants like der Dutchman , it provided enough of a variety to Make up a nice luncheon , and we were all pleased with what we had selected ) ....... Oh yah , and as part of the buffet , there was a table which included complimentary Servings of the chocolate , maple and vanilla iced long- johns filled with a plentiful dose of Bavarian creme ! Those, along with apple fritters , fry pies , doughnuts , bear claws , cakes , cookies and whole pies are available for sale at the bakery counter . Our friendly waitress checked back frequently with refills And we chatted a bit about the history of the homestead , which also contains two separate outbuildings on a nicely landscaped lot , one for catering services and the other for banquets . I forgot to mention that The original Victorian style farmhouse is attached to the restaurant building and is a beautiful visual remembrance of times past . All in all , we had a tasty lunch and left satiated , ( with our bag of goodies from the bakery of course ) . If you are in the area , Do go , as I'm sure that you will enjoy the tasty meals and the Amish ambiance That this restaurant offers . PS : AN ADDENDUM ----- my only reason for not rating the full five stars is that the salad and hot bars, while tasty , were a bit smaller than those found at larger restaurants like Der Dutchman etc . Otherwise everything was fine ! That being said , I must also add that , One bonus for me was that the utensil wraps on each table contained a knife , a fork AND SPOON !!! One of my pet peeves these days is that MANY chain restaurants wrap a knife and two forks and NO SPOON ! Stopped in tonight for dinner. Ordered the buffet. Should have looked at it first! The salad bar was good, except the 3 bean salad tasted sour and the pudding was gritty. The hot buffet was bad! All of it looked like it had been sitting for hours! The soup and chicken with vegetables and gravy had a skim on top. The chicken was dark and had a strange smell. Our server was very nice and asked how everything was. When we told her honestly what we thought she offed to bring us out fresh chicken, which she said would be ready shortly.
