The breakfast was good enough and there were enough servers to keep things moving. Our server got my order wrong and we had to refer to the menu and add up our own tab because the ticket has the items listed but no prices. I commented that it was awkward if you didn't know that was their process until you get to the register and they looked at me like I had two heads and told me it's been that way since 1988. I guess they don't get many out of town visitors and don't care. There was also a sign at each booth telling you to be considerate and not socialize when people are waiting. Hidden gem in a tiny town about an hour from home. The place has a wonderful homey feel to it. Everyone in there seemed to be regulars and the place was packed. After getting our food, we knew why. It was great. Nothing better than supporting small business and feeling so welcomed as we roll out with full bellies. I'd love to keep this place to myself but they deserve the business. We went here for lunch this past Sunday, arrived about 11:30 am, good crowd. We took a seat at the counter only open seats. We were attended to right away - coffee mugs, place mats, utensils, etc. Cups were filled with hot brew and topped off every couple of sips, good if you take your coffee black without sweetener, bad if you don't as fresh coffee in your cup dilutes the additions. One grill, and one man at it! The guy was swamped and it took awhile for him to get to our order. Food was well prepared, decent size portions, good quality a great value for the price paid. The reason I don't give it 4 stars and don't plan on going back is due to the unprofessional wait staff. These ladies were complaining about everyone that gave them immediate feedback on the poor job they were doing. The entire time we waited for our food and until we left the place it was one gripe after another. It was so bad, when I went to pay the bill the cashier made me wait to ring up the sum while she gossiped with one of the whiny servers about a customer that criticized her for not doing her job. As mentioned above, the server kept adding coffee to our mugs after every couple of sips, my wife repeatedly told them to stop topping off her coffee as she takes it with cream and didn't want to keep adding more cream to adjust it, they ignored her, she tried covering the cup with her hand and they almost poured hot coffee on her hand. LISTEN TO THE CUSTOMERS, they are trying to tell you something! MRS J, send your wait staff to some customers service training! They are the spokespersons for your brand and they are doing a poor job. read more

We were surprised at the poor service we had, and when we saw our food sitting there getting cold, we waved to an employee. Instead of apologizing, she acted annoyed. Visited Mrs. J's on a busy Saturday morning - we arrived just as a big group from the local basketball team was seated, so the wait for our food was a little longer than it probably normally takes, but it was worth the wait. This seems to be the place all the locals go, which is always a good sign! Staff was very friendly and when the food came it was served hot and was delicious. We had an order of Biscuits and Gravy with an egg and toast and a Pancake Sandwich breakfast (two pancakes with sausage patties in-between and an egg on top). Will definitely be on our list for a repeat visit next time we are in the area. read more

The food was fine but not great. they undercooked my potatoes twice.. the first time they were almost raw in the middle as I explained this to the waitress.. she asked if id like more I said yes and got the same thing again. that was fine I was not going to make a big deal about it . then I got to wondering why this had happened.. so I began watching the cook. which who I could see easily as everyone could.. very open. well after seeing what was he was doing I saw a problem.. It was not how he was using the spatula to mash down the potatoes and flip them after awhile.... it was his total disregard for public safety... he was not wearing gloves and was repeatedly bare fingering all the food he was preparing.. it was sick.. then I noticed another food prep girl making some grilled cheese.. she was also bare handed and fingering the breads and cheeses.... lets just say I left Mrs. J s I felt disgusted then when I paid the bill I felt like I just paid for their germs. read more
