The menu has fairly straightforward cafe like offerings of sandwiches and salads. I wanted something light so I opted for the cesar salad in spite of my reservations when it said tomatoes and olives were on it. Weird but whatever chicken, lettuce, croutons and cesar dressing still felt on brand so I went for it. This is not a cesar salad. It was a salad with balsamic dressing of some kind, toasted bread with the crust cut off and a cold chicken breast. And, it comes with bread but I was told they didn't have rye so I ended up with sourdough that was also not sourdough and the waitperson didn't bring it until I was mostly through eating my refrigerator cold chicken. Just, yikes. Additionally, I still don't know how there was rye for my sister's sandwich but I wasn't allowed to order it with my food. As for her lunch, the pastrami was fine but with a lackluster amount of meat. The French onion soup was the only thing that felt reasonable with quality and price. All in all, I think the snack bars or even grocery stores in the area/ Amish country appeared to have better offerings. I wouldn't recommend this place for lunch. The gift shop was cute and reasonably priced so maybe check it out for that but that's it.

Our dinners took a while to come out so we assumed ours would be just fine. WRONG! I ordered three-piece dark meat, and it was lukewarm and very dry, like it sat under a heat lamp for some odd reason. My wife ordered three-piece white meat and found it extremely dried out and the skin was very dark almost burned like it stayed too long in the oven. I don't understand what is going on in the kitchen, but this is NOT the Der Dutchman that we've known in the past. It was always a pleasure to enjoy home cooked meals there.
