Brittni was an incredible waitress, once she checked in on us and asked us how the food was I asked her why this place didn't have an hour wait to get in, it was that good. We enjoyed sitting on the patio, we actually never made it past the host stand so I can't say what the inside is like, but the outside was beautiful. One of the best dining experiences I've had in a long time. I've always seen menu items that say buy the kitchen a 6 pack, and this was the first time ever I did. We got the lettuce wraps to start, then got a pizza, wings, pasta, and a burger for our entrees, and carrot cake to go. The lettuce wraps were fantastic and had a lovely kick to them. All of our entrees were exceptional and plenty leftover to take to our hotel. The only thing we didn't absolutely love was the carrot cake, but it was still good. read more

My colleague and I were visiting the area and staying at the Hilton Garden Inn. They recommended several restaurants for dinner, but TJ's reviews on Yelp caught my attention. It was quite busy when we arrived around 6:00, but the dinner crowd thinned out quickly. During our visit, TJ came to our table to check in on us which was a nice personal touch. I ordered the shrimp pasta with zoodles. I wasn't familiar with zoodles other than it was made from zucchini. I thought it was more of a pasta texture, but quickly learned they were spiraled zucchini. I'm sure it was more healthy, although I would have preferred pasta. The shrimp were large and very tasty. Complimented by a couple of Scottish Ales made for a perfect dinner. My colleague ordered the salmon dinner and complimented by pumpkin cheesecake for dessert. First time eating here last night with my wife, we both had prime rib and it was absolutely amazing some of the best I've had in a very long time. the waitress was very punctual to our needs and brought drinks without being asked which is a huge thing for me. the inside is dated but it's also a very relaxing atmosphere where you can actually have a conversation. my wife and I will be back for sure to try other items on the menu read more

Food is really boring and overpriced. Got the Thai wedge salad, $15 and an additional cost to add a protein. Taste was fine but the whole salad was uninspired. My husband got the vegan chicken breast, which was just frozen Gardein, had to create his own sandwich because you can't really just swap out the protein in any of the sandwiches because you'd have to leave off the cheese and sauce to make any of them fully vegan. The fries were bland and there weren't enough. I got a cocktail that was warm. Husband got a soda that was flat. Came here on a cold december night, and everything was cheerfully decorated and warmed our spirits. The staff was very friendly, and was able to collect our orders quickly. Had a horrible meal here. I ordered the tenderloin skewers medium rare. The meat arrived raw! I sent it back (nicely) and they did not re-fire the meat, they put the whole plate in a microwave (vegetables too) in a microwave for 30 seconds. Then did not check to see if the meat was cooked. Nope still raw! I don't blame the waitress. She was kind and attentive. She said she would speak to the manager. The results, a whopping $4 discount off the bill. I've had good meals at this restaurant before but things change. If you can cook a simple dish well, don't expect anything else to be good. read more

Entrees and side salad are far too expensive for quality received. The chicken in my pasta dish was some of the toughest I've tasted in a while and salad was straight out of a mixed greens bag from Walmart, appetizers were decent. Service was just fine as was atmosphere. read more

We are on a college visit on Homecoming weekend & wanted a new place to try. TJ's is an established family owned restaurant that really has nice variety & a nice vibe. There are some nice seasonal choices, including a 'warm' balsamic salad that I got, with steak. It was very good and i wish I had been able to finish it, but having had a slice of the delicious pepperoni bread made this impossible. My dinner mates had the burger & walleye. Both looked great and it was reported both were good. Cocktails looked good, but I had a glass of wine-it would be nice to have a few more choices (maybe a little higher end), but no big deal. It's worth noting that it's a nice, pretty quiet, comfortable atmosphere--so many places are too noisy and frenetic. We were checked on often; everyone is very attentive. Desserts looked good too, but we were a little full. We'll be back in the future! read more

Came in from California for my nephew's graduation, and our large party of 11 very much enjoyed our Saturday night dining experience. Every dish was well executed, starting with the deep fried cheese curd (with tasty marinara dip) and the sauerkraut balls. All the steaks and salads we had, and the fish too, were well prepared. And the vegetables and sides worked well. Desserts were about as sweet as they get, so I suggest sharing. Good coffee, too, and we found a tasty Malbec on the wine menu. Areas for improvement (in my subjective opinion): The mixed cocktails were more "spring break" than mixology. And I would prefer they use a little less iceberg in their salads. I would absolutely eat here again. Food and service were careful and considerate. read more

My brother recently got married in Wooster and we chose TJ's to be the place for the rehearsal dinner. Leading up to the day, we coordinated with Rodney. He was always quick to return calls, so helpful, and accommodating. Fast forward to day of and Rodney helped us get into the space early to decorate. Every time we asked something, we got an enthusiastic 'yes!' Sydney was our server for the event and she was kind, personable, and on top of everything everyone needed. My mother and stopped in here for dinner after a long day traveling from VA to OH. The hotel staff recommended this restaurant as one of several good ones. We went in about 7:00 pm on a Friday evening. When you walk in - you choose between one of three restaurants. They had a Tiki Bar/Beach theme going on in the restaurant for the evening. They even had gone so far to set up a plastic kiddie pool in one part of the dining room, and then were asking diners if they would like "pool-side seats?" We were asked if we would wear lei's (they were fake plastic flowers - but they were having run with it). We said yes. All of the servers were wearing fake grass skirts and other decorative tropical themed stuff. They had strings of lights strung about the place - it took me a minute to figure out that each light was in the shape of a small parrot! For an appetizer, I ordered a place of Mussels - they were decent. For dinner, I had a Caesar salad with Anchovies, The salad was a bit dry, so I asked for a side of Caesar dressing, adding a bit of that made the salad very good. The Anchovies added just the right amount of kick, flavor, and salt to the dish. I added a bit of black pepper to the salad. For my entree - I had Blackened Halibut, with a Creole shrimp topping and a side of spicy Remoulade. Rice and steamed vegetables came with the fish - the vegetables were primarily squash and broccoli. The Halibut, the shrimp topping, and Remoulade sauce were all yummy. The Blackening spice on the Halibut was a bit to salty for my taste - but still good. My mother had the Char-broiled Salmon and she said it was good. The service was good and attentive. I would definitely come back here again when/if visiting the Wooster area! read more

Five very enthusiastic stars. I am such a huge fan of TJs/Melvins/CWs for several reasons, in no particular order. I LOVE the fact that its locally owned in a place that is becoming more and more like Fairlawn. Greg and the rest of the Tieches are such wonderful people and they really have done an incredible job with this place. Each restaurant does a fabulous job with their particular type of food, and the quality is pretty awesome! TJs fine dining has amazing steaks and fish, Melvins food is truly innovative and orginal, with really fresh ingredients, and I can say with complete confidence that CWs has the best burgers I have ever had, and the artichoke dip is pretty bomb as well. Friendly, reasonably priced, and definitely one of the best restaurants around... I only wish I could bring it out to LA with me. Be sure to check out open mic night at CWs and the covered deck outside TJs/Melvins! Oh, and they used to have a bartender that made the best margaritas around... This place is kinda schizo, but in the best way possible. You walk in upstairs and have the choice of TJ's or Melvins. Tj's is the finer dining area, and Melvin's is the more. . . relaxed [I guess] restaurant. The truth is, that it all used to be TJ's back in the day. There's one kitchen, and you can order off whatever menu you like, but you're really just picking your atmosphere. What really sets this place apart for me is the martini menu. I *love* a good designer martini, and this place came through. Not only that, but since it's in the middle of nowhere, I'm not paying out my nose for one. GO TJ'S!! If they were to change anything though, I'd want them to have their prime rib every night. I used to get it here when I was really little and it stands in my memory as one of the best I've ever tasted. Sadly, it's only offered on weekends now. *sigh* read more

I've been to TJ's quite a few times, and it is definitely one of the better restaurants in Wooster. The only thing that has ever bothered me is the service. The servers were not rude or unfriendly, just inattentive. I have only been a lunch patron though, during a slow time. I know how it is to only be waiting on one table (I'm a server, too), but it was kind of overboard. The food has always been delicious! They even have a VEGAN menu. I can't remember exactly what I ordered, but it had to do with eggplant, peanut sauce, rice, and vegetables. It was the most original eggplant dish I've had at a restaurant. They told me that they were kind of experimenting with their vegan menu, which I think is awesome. The two times I ordered it, it tasted kind of different - in good ways! I'm sure they were fiddling with the recipe, which means they're at least paying attention to the customers comments. Off topic, I noticed other reviewers mentioned the owners. I went to high school with one of their daughters (they have quite a few, and their pictures are on the wall - beautiful family!) and though we weren't friends, I heard nothing but good things about her. So it's a nice, family owned restaurant. A bonus! read more

The Tuesday special is the best! They have a special menu that you can choose from and get an all inclusive meal for a reasonable price. I'm a big fan of the filet. The desserts are all delicious. Service has been fantastic every time I've been here- typically I go after a workout and they always keep up with my water refills. Great drink specials as well. We found this by just looking up places to eat coming home from Amish Area. What a wonderful surprise! The food was so tasty. I had the best dish made with zucchini noodles, lots of fresh vegetables, vodka sauce (which I had on the side), and chicken. MMMMMM...GOOD!!!! My husband had the Flank steak and gobbled up every bite. It looked so delicious. The owner sat us, and talked with us for a bit. She was so friendly!!! It's a special family-owned business with most of the family working there it seems. There aren't too many places like this left. And a side note: in the Women's bathroom they had little cups along with mouthwash. I thought that was an amazing little touch. I hope we can get back up there sometime again. read more

Food was ok, nothing outstanding. Service was good. My issue was the flies. They were absolutely everywhere! I know it's summer and I know I can expect to see a fly or two, but there were probably at least a dozen by us. One was even smashed on the booth window above my friend's head. We both had to have our hands CONSTANTLY sweeping the air and they still found time to land on things. I talked to the host/manager and I said they were awful. She laughed and had a tone like we were gossiping, "I know! They're just terrible, aren't they?!" I told her it wasn't funny and it was truly disgusting (I can only imagine how bad the kitchen must be!). She said there wasn't anything they could do about it and the Health Department wouldn't allow a fly swatter. I have never been in a restaurant with THIS much of a fly problem and I will NEVER go back due to management's attitude about it. read more
