    Sloppy Joe

Perhaps this place is a better wine bar than restaurant, but my partner and I went there for dinner and it was not good. We got there at about 7:45 on a Wednesday. The place is very small. The bar was full, but there are a few tables so we were able to sit down right away at a small table. The vibe was artsy wine bar, a little aloof, like they tried a little too hard. It was "Wine Wednesday" so there was 20% off bottles and $1 off glass pours all day. We don't really drink wine and there was a full bar so we each ordered the Apricot Old Fashioned. Apricot does not go well with old fashioned flavors, so the drink was not very good, my partner didn't even finish his. We ordered the hummus plate as an appetizer. It was kinda good, but not very good. It seemed to be house made, which is sad as they are right across the street from Holy Land Deli and they could get good hummus there. The plate came with a few crackers and some veggies. It was edible. I noticed that the waitress was also the server, and there appeared to be one person in the kitchen, though I couldn't really see in there. The server was nice and we were not rushed at all. There was not a lot on the menu to choose from so I had the Sloppy Joes. Not good. Somehow tasted more like a hotdog than a Sloppy Joe. It gave me a bit of an upset stomach, so I did not finish. My partner had the Salami panini. When he got it, it was hard to find any salami. There was one very thin slice of meat that did not look like any kind of salami we had ever seen before. There was also supposed to be giardiniera on the sandwich, which he could not find. This is a person who can and will eat almost anything and he could not stomach even half of the sandwich. Both dishes came with potato chips and cornichons, neither of which had good flavor. We didn't feel well after eating and indeed about half way home we had to stop and both of us threw up. Then we got the bill. Good lord that was a lot to pay for shitty food and drink that made us vomit.

LOVE this bar! It's small and quaint but is the perfect spot to catch up with a friend, order an app and sip on a delicious cocktail. Service was excellent and the bartender was super friendly.

A fun little spot in the Holland neighborhood, Dutch Bar is good for happy hour, or drinks and light fare. I wouldn't come here for a meal. I met a friend here on a Wednesday afternoon. Parking on the street was a little tricky. There were tons of spaces available to sit inside and outside on their patio. The staff was friendly and attentive. It was nice having table service. We ordered a cocktail and a glass of rose. The cocktail was good! And the wine was a happy hour special.

The wine list is really thoughtful and leans toward smaller, lesser-known producers and unique regions. Even if you know wine well, there are still plenty of interesting picks here. Just note that by-the-glass options are limited, so it's more of a place where you end up ordering a bottle. The space is beautifully designed. Very minimal, clean, and intentional. It feels elevated without being overdone. It is definitely expensive for what it is. Both the wine and food lean high in price, but you're also paying for the atmosphere and overall experience. The menu is also a bit different in a fun way. The tinned fish selection stands out and isn't something you see often. The radish butter and bread was a highlight and absolutely worth ordering. Service is a little unconventional since you order at the counter, which feels a bit off given the pricing, but everything still runs smoothly.

We wanted a recommendation and the wine picked for us was excellent. Went with the Plavac Milos. The food is honestly incredible! The carrots were my favorite. Someday I'll get enough courage to try the tinned fish. I wish seating was a little more comfortable for the whole "drink a bottle and stay awhile" vibe. It also can get pretty loud when it's busy in the tight quarters.

I immediately replied Vinai & she told me she booked us a reservation & I was excited for 2 weeks until we arrived. AMBIANCE: It feels like a more upscale trendy Asian spot but still felt warm, airy, and welcoming. Folks were both dressed up and casual. Our server was nice, but did think it was funny how she explained "family style" to a table of Asian folks but I guess it's safer not to assume. FOOD: It was all delicious but my fav was the Laab Carpaccio-that's a must get! We also enjoyed the Fun Fun Egg Noodles & Hmong Cucumbers for something healthier & then the pork chop. It was def worth paying extra for the green hot sauce & for some extra sticky rice. We also enjoyed our cocktails and mango sticky rice dessert. Yes it's a bit spendy but I would say it's worth it & can't find any of these dishes at Hmong Village :) Lastly, I saw the owner of the restaurant join the table next to us. I was so close to leaning over and giving him a high-five but resisted embarrassing my friend, but maybe next time!

I'm sure lots of you are wondering what this means. Well, IMO there are lots of Asian restaurants in the Twin Cities that try to elevate the food for what is typically considered cheap Asian street/home-cooked food so they can charge a premium price. Most of them do it very poorly. This place actually hits the mark on most of their dishes. This is not just a trendy place for less familiar Caucasian patrons, but can be enjoyed by those familiar with the flavors. Service: 1/1 Staff was attentive and provided excellent service. I was seated in a busier spot, and the servers always made an effort to give me plenty of space. Ambiance: 1/1 The seating was clean and spacious, and the lighting was not too bright or too dim. It is street parking, but it is manageable with the nearby neighborhoods.

The space is very nice. A little loud, but not so bad you can't have a conversation. I love the big windows along the side and being behind the storefront on the other side. For the food...fantastic. I saw arancini on the menu, which I can never say no to. These had a pea pesto, which was perfect for spring. I ended up getting the chicken sandwich for my dinner and had a couple fabulous cocktails. Since we stopped in for a birthday celebration, we were also treated to a delicious scoop of cake batter ice cream. Our server was delightful, very fast and incredibly friendly. He also had great suggestions for those who wanted a recommendation. All in all, would definitely come back to the Sidebar!

We had the absolute best server who was just amazing! So outgoing and made the visit enjoyable. Just an absolute delight and I heard others complimenting his as well. He really made our Mother's Day brunch enjoyable. Food was great: Mediterranean chop salad looked amazing and was said to be very good. Eggs, bacon and toast were good. American breakfast- good potatoes. Breakfast sandwich was good. Amazing sauce on the arugula. Breakfast tacos were also said to be good with really good tortillas. Bloody Mary was pretty good.
