We stopped here on our way to Canada and had an ok meal. We deliberated over what app to get and felt a little underwhelmed by the waitresses recommendation of the pot stickers. These didn't stick together well and didn't have a ton of flavor. For the main we tried the fried rice dish with shrimp which was probably a highlight of the meal, although we wished there'd been a few more shrimp. The fried ice-cream was also disappointing. The fried part had very little flavor and the ice cream was not all that tasty nor were the store bought mini chocolate chips. We also had a small salad and a pad se-ew all of which were fine, but not anything I'd especially want to come back for despite the reasonably good service we received here. Overall for the price, quantity, and quality, Dusit was fine, but the experience was maybe not on par with some of the other reviews and star ratings here. This is one of our 'go to' restaurants in the Newport/Derby Vermont area. We have been eating here for years. Today, we stopped in for lunch. The restaurant is clean and the service is always great. I ordered avocado and tuna sushi and spicy eggplant. My wife ordered the drunken noodles. The main dishes arrived 10 minutes later and the sushi arrived 5 minutes after the main dishes. All dishes looked really good and there was a lot of food on the plates. Even the sushi pieces were large. The taste of the sushi was good, better than the last time I ordered it here. The avocado and tuna were fresh. My spicy eggplant dish was very good with fresh vegetables and a spicy sauce. My wife thought the drunken noodles had a bit too much oil. Otherwise, they tasted good. This restaurant has been up and down depending on who is cooking. I am happy to report that they are back in the very good category. We will continue to go here to enjoy the great Thai lunches. read more

I wish the interior design was edible. What a beautiful restaurant in a town that can't figure out what to do with the huge empty hole lot across the street. The owners just returned from Thailand and the customers and to go orders are pouring in. The luncheon special has been paired back a bit and is basically a generous serving of a main entree. No soup or salad included. That said, the food is very tasty and "heat" is appropriately seasoned to customers desire. After eating this delicious lunch, I returned that evening for a to-go order. It was carefully packed and stayed hot for the 20 minute ride to my daughter's house. I was told that sushi will be back soon. Ginger tea is lovely in any weather. read more

Tied for the best Thai I've ever had (with a place in Fairbanks, AK). Has a special sweet and spicy quality, neither of which overpower one another, not found elsewhere. Service was a tad slow but I sense that it's entirely family run and the elders probably aren't currently working. Food is served family style. The atmosphere is calming. Adequate spacing between tables. Parking area is around the main st. Or you got to find a place for your own. Server is nice but they need more definitely since she is running back and forth nonstop. Price is quite expensive for what the quality is, u get more aromatics, raw vegetables which for sure i knw should be soft or atleast boiled first. There is this i guess vegetable on the DS talay thai that is a choking hazard and the squid is not cooked well to that it is hard to chew. Place is clean. A/C is working. Table presentation is nice. I had high hopes based on the photos, but the sushi looked a lot better than it tasted. For starters, the rice was very gummy, overwhelmingly sweet, and there was far too much of it. The "spicy salmon" hand roll was not spicy at all, but extremely sweet due to the problematic rice. The salmon hand roll also contained krab with a k, which I'm not a fan of! I wouldn't have ordered this if I knew it would have krab in it. Same story with the alleged "shrimp tempura roll"! I didn't see a single piece of fried shrimp, only more krab with a k. The sushi had the cold, refrigerated texture of grocery store sushi but with the price tag of sushi joints in NYC. Definitely wouldn't recommend! The Thai food was fine, nothing to write home about but suitable, and the portions were massive. My partner's beef curry could feed 2-3 people, as would the pad thai. My suggestion, stick with the Thai food. read more

We had heard from a few people that this place has the best sushi in VT & have to agree. The salza roll was presented beautifully, tasted great, and was huge! While we had originally came for sushi, I changed my mind upon arrival and went with a Thai dish- pad prik khing. It tasted amazing & portion size was big. We ordered on a Sunday when they only have take out. We were at Jay Peak and wanted something different. Nice looking place and friendly staff. No complaints there. But...... 1. Lamp chops were inedible when I got back to the hotel (30 minutes away). I have never had lamb chop so tough. This wasn't due to lamb chops continuing to cook in the container. Little well done I can deal with. They were tough to chew. 2. The Drunken Noodles tasted like very bad beef chow fun. You know, the broad noodles. 3, The Pad Khing had good flavor but the pork pieces were so large they seemed like filets. That's not how this dish should be. 4. The beef fried rice was soggy and bland. 5. The shrimp in the eggplant dish seemed tired. 6. The Thai ice Tea was great. Hope it was just an off day. We will go back with enthusiasm. We have patronized Dusit Thai more times than I can count. This is easily the best restaurant in Newport, albeit not a very high bar. The food is consistently good and the service splendid. This was our COVID go-to getting takeout often. Caution on the heat - unlike most restaurants where "hot" barely tingles the palate, Dusit lays on the peppers - I love hot food but "medium" at Dusit is plenty hot for me. While this is a Thai restaurant, I actually came for the sushi which they offer part of the year. I had an expensive sashimi meal here over the summer that blew me away- especially since it's way up north away from the sea in a rural area. Outstanding experience. My wife and I went up to newport to get away the weekend after our wedding (we called it our "mini moon") and stopped here for dinner on our first night in town. We started with chicken satay and it was very good. The peanut sauce was especially notable. My wife ordered the chicken pad Thai, which was phenomenal and a step up from the usual pad Thai you find in most places. Lots of veggies, succulent chicken, delicious sauce, and it was piled high. There was so much that we took some to go and it was excellent leftovers the next day. I ordered the grilled lamb chops with cashew nut sauce. It was one of the best dishes I have had out in a while. The lamb was cooked perfectly to order, lots of bell peppers and broccoli etc dressed around the plate too. The cashew nut sauce was out of this world. Absolutely exceptional food. They serve very authentic Thai food as well as sushi, and both are excellent. I have had almost everything on the menu and am never disappointed. Beware if you are sensitive to spicy though because if you order medium and spicy for your dish it's very spicy! If you don't like spice order mild. The service was terrible. Getting acknowledged to be seated took forever, having our order taken also took forever, and waiting for our food took so long we just paid and asked for it to go. All in all we were there over an hour to get take out. The food was just okay we had sushi, no real flavor at all. Honestly it all tasted bland and textures were mushy. In the land of pubs, pizza and diners, it was nice to come across this Thai option. Yelp reviews gave it 5 stars so off we went. Located on Main Street with street parking right out front. The old world Thai decorations were elegant and provided a warm atmosphere. We had pad thai tofu and green curry with chicken. Both dishes were excellent and authentic. Also came with a cup of vegetable soup to start with. Portions were more generous than typical Thai restaurants I'm use to but not overly huge. Prices were more than reasonable. Staff was friendly and courteous. One nit: some may find the ambiance music relaxing, I found it a bit sleepy. Perhaps because it's raining outside. No matter this should stop you from enjoying a great meal here. We'll be back in the summer! read more

Maybe it was a bad night, but we did not have a good experience. Got there shortly after they opened for the evening hours on a Sunday night. First they brought the wrong appetizers, had to correct that. Most of our group ordered sushi. The waitress said it would take longer than other meals. We thought about 15 minutes. The first two sushi orders came about 30 minutes after the regular Thai meals. An hour later we asked where the other 3 orders of sushi were! We ended up taking them to go. The food just wasn't that good. The duck soup wasn't duck soup but a tasteless broth with noodles with duck sliced on top of it. The sauce for the fried tofu was soooo spicy and it wasn't marked as spicy on the menu. Like I said, maybe it was the night, but it was a big disappointment. read more
