Our furnace had been overheating and we were getting bids from contractors for replacing it, when a cousin recommended we contact Brent for another bid. He arrived, inspected the furnace, inspected the duct system and registers, and then identified why the furnace was overheating: we had closed too many of the registers and the air couldn't circulate and cool the system to operating temperatures. None of the other three bidders had noticed the closed registers. We opened the registers and they system has been running without overheating since. The furnace is old and it will need to be replaced in a year or two, but now we have the time to plan and prepare for that day when it comes. He never made a bid and did not charge us for his time. Duro Heating is a GREAT family owned business. On a referral, Braden with Duro came out in September of 2024 to do an annual service on a 23 year old gas furnace at a rental house I own. He told me the furnace still had life but there were possible signs that the controller board may have issues. He was prompt, knowledgeable and professional. In mid December my tenants notified me that the furnace wasn't producing heat. The error code suggested a bad controller board. I called Duro and talked to Brent (the owner) He responded quickly, even though he was on another job. The next day he got me a quote for a new controller board and a new furnace. Because of the high controller board cost, I decided to go with a new furnace. Brent got me on his schedule for the install and I used space heaters to provide heat for my tenants. Three days later my tenants contacted me and said when they called for heat from the furnace it started up & had been working fine all day. I called Brent that evening and told him that the furnace was working. He asked if I still wanted to go ahead with the new install. I told him I wasn't sure and he suggested to give it 3 or 4 days before deciding whether to move forward or not. After 4 days the furnace was still working fine and I called Brent and told him I wanted to release the install time. Brent then sent me a notification that the furnace install time had been released. After all the time Brent had put into this, I really appreciated Duro's speed, flexibility and professionalism. Furnace was first assessed and serviced back on 1/27/21. I noticed that vents were on continuously and producing no heat over the weekend. So this morning (3/15/21), called and left a voicemail with Duro Heating to make an appointment. I received a prompt call back and scheduling put me in a slot today between 12noon and 2pm. Logistics enabled service well before then, diagnosed, and serviced by noon. I was given clear instructions to do preliminary assessments and what to look for. I was counseled again to start saving up, because this 19 year old furnace may be on its last legs of service. No payment for today's service call, not even for his travel and labor. My 40yr old furnace went on the fritz (of course) during the first week of snow this winter in Seattle. Called around to several big name repair companies and they had a 2+ week waitlist and wanted to charge hundreds of dollars just to have someone come out to diagnose the issue (not including repair costs). In late April 2023 the condensate pump connected to my furnace and split a/c unit burned out and stopped pumping water out. This impacted the performance of the furnace, preventing it from kicking on in the morning. The broken pump would have also impacted the a/c performance if the weather was hot enough to turn the a/c on. At this point the weather was still relatively comfortable, but I wanted to get the situation fixed before the inevitable heat wave. I contacted several local HVAC companies and Duro responded immediately (even though I called in on a Sunday morning.) Duro sent a service technician out the next day (Monday.) The service tech installed a new pump and inspected the furnace and outdoor A/C unit. He cleaned up the furnace since it had some construction dust & debris inside, and recommended a new air filter (the old one was the wrong size.) I noticed that the furnace still did not kick on the next day or two and the smart thermostat still displayed an error message, so I called in for follow up. The gentleman on the phone was able to remotely walk me through the steps to simply reboot the system. After that the furnace and thermostat started working again. A few weeks later the system was put to the test when Seattle had its first early heat wave. The a/c automatically kicked on and kept the house comfortable. On cooler days, the furnace warms up the house in the morning. The system is operating normally, the new condensate pump is pumping away, and I am 100% satisfied. read more

We worked with Duro Heating twice in December and they were fantastic both times. In early December we noticed water leaking out on the floor around our furnace on Saturday afternoon around 4:45pm. We were able to get Duro on the phone right away to identify whether it was an emergency or something that could wait until Monday. And then they had service technicians at our house Monday morning to do a routine and minor fix. Then right at the start of the cold, snowy snap in Seattle, our furnace stopped working. I was able to get Duro Heating on the phone and they walked me through step by step how to troubleshoot what was going on and I was able to get it up and running again by myself with their coaching. These are my new go-to folks for my heating needs! Had my heat go out on an 15 year old furnace; three different repair techs from two different companies took a look and they encouraged me to get the furnace replaced to the tune of $6K! Duro came out and suggested replacing at $250 mother board on the furnace and got me up and running! Duro told me that they knew my Rheem furnace very well, and could replace/repair components as it came up. I much prefer keeping something going this way rather than having to scrap a heating system every 15 years as the others suggested. Also since our heat was out and we were freezing, Duro prioritized us and kept us in the loop with great communication along the way. My heat pump/AC broke down on the hottest day of the year. I called Duro Heating the next day and spoke with Brent. He was able to come to my home to take a look at the heat pump the following day at noon. Brent diagnosed the issue within a couple of minutes. He returned with the part after about an hour and a half, and then fixed the problem! He also did a maintenance service on my furnace and confirmed that everything was working fine. I really appreciate Brent's honesty, clear explanation, and his responsiveness. His price was very reasonable, and he did not try to sell me on other services. I happen to live at a place with an oil-fired, hydronic heating system. I'd been searching for ages to find a company that actually knows how to work on these and DOESN'T charge you an arm and a leg for visits that ultimately solve nothing. I'd gotten pretty frustrated after working with companies like Southwest or Sound Oil, who send people who don't know the system, can't fix the problem, don't keep their commitments, don't pick up the phone, but happily charge you anyway. My 15 yrs. old furnace needed to be replaced after years of hard work. I read about 5 hrs online about proper furnace installation then went to search for a reliable local furnace installer. I used servicemagic.com to narrow candidates and had 3 companies come out bid on the project. A technician at Duro Heating came out on schedule, took time to examine the existing furnace and explained in details the size, brand, BTU of the furnace they will install and offered to reroute the roof duct to prevent chimney from further erosion. The other two contractors was also well known locally but one didn't show up on time and the other was way way too expensive for comparable furnace unit and extra charges for everything. I chose Duro Heating based on the estimate and ease of communication. Duro Heating came back out two days later and after 5 hours of work, the work was completed without an issue. We all hear horror stories about furnace replacement gone wrong but Duro Heating is not one of them. We bought our house with a relatively new oil furnace a year ago. In the hustle of getting settled into a new home, we neglected the service that was due. For a few months the furnace had been turning itself off but we could push a button and it would reset and heat again. Until it wouldn't. In December. The week between Christmas and New Years. When it stopped working last week, we realized it had been 3 years since it had been serviced (Duro recommends 2 for ours - something about the tiger loop so it doesn't need annual service?). We decided to try calling the company who had last serviced it, which was Duro. We were bracing ourselves for a 2 week wait and/or an exorbitant emergency fee given the season and the timing. Instead Brent was able to come out the next day. He charged us for a regular service (winter rate, which is higher than summer - get your furnace serviced in the summer!) and it was working again. But 6 days later it went out again due to a bad igniter (probably an underlying problem going back several months but we got away with the resets and the service for a while). Within 24 hours it's working again, thanks again to Brent's being able to fit us in. As far as I can tell, this is a one man operation, and that one man couldn't be nicer or more upbeat. Also very helpful in explaining what's going on and what he's fixing. We plan to replace our oil furnace this summer so won't be needing his services going forward (fingers crossed) (unless Brent does heat pumps), but I would most highly recommend him to anyone who does needs their furnace serviced or fixed. read more

I think they are good at what they do, but over committed. As a result they are responsive to the people that yell at them the most. It took several weeks for me to figure this out. In those several weeks, they did absolutely nothing to fix my furnace they promised to fix (including ordering the part). Once I figured out that I needed to be active and complaining in order to move myself up the Q, things got done fast. And it appears that they fixed the problem. read more

Duro Heating Service is fast, professional and affordable! Walking into your business to find your furnace wont stay lit is a big deal when it's January and you're expecting a full day of clients. Duro was able to get me in, perform maintenance and fix my furnace same day. I used to have problems maintaining a comfortable heat, but after my furnace was serviced by Duro it heats much more efficiently which I know will also save me on my gas bill. Utter failure. My furnace wasn't igniting, so I had Puget Sound Energy diagnose it, as they do it for free. They identified 2 leaky valves in the furnace and turned off the gas to my house. So I had Duro scheduled to fix it later that day. The technician came out while I was out of the house, but was willing to come after hours because his prior calls took longer than expected (+1 star for that). The technician told me that he identified no leaks, that there was a clog in there that he cleared out, and that the gas should be turned back on. So I had PSE return to do so, later that night. When I got home, a note from PSE said that the leaks still exist and that there was no documentation left by Duro, so they would not turn on the gas until there was documentation that the leaks were fixed. So I called Duro on Saturday morning, explaining the situation. They said to leave a message with my furnace's model number and they'd order parts for me. They said they could not diagnose leaks if the gas was turned off. I called PSE and they said that any reputable furnace company knows how to diagnose leaks with the gas off and that I should consider another company. I called Duro and told them the model number and waited for their call. Monday morning I got a call: "we don't work on Goodman furnaces." WTF were you working on in my basement then? And why'd it take you 5 days to tell me this? So my house remains cold, I became bitter, and I urge you not to patronize these guys for their lack of skills and common sense. If they have the nerve to send me a bill for their first visit, so help me god.... read more

Duro has serviced our ancient heater a few times. They are the only ones (I believe) that still work on oil furnaces as old as ours. They have always been on time and we've never had to call them out a second time because of problems. Two winters ago we had a newer (but used) blower pump given to us which they installed and it made a huge difference. We figured since we had this new part, we probably wouldn't need our furnace serviced. Well, because of our stupidity, the heater went out the first time it snowed. Duro STILL came out snow and all and fixed our furnace for us! They are very reasonably priced and we are very happy with them. read more
