We had a good experience with Precision, and the timeline for getting our house built was during…read morethe height of the covid epidemic, and supplies were slow in coming, and they told us that it would take approx. a year to get it built, and it did take 14 months, but from the day the slab was poured it took almost 6 months to actually finish the house. The initial slab and framing and roof construction was very good, and we had a few issues with plumbing rough ins coming up thru the slab, but they made the adjustments that were needed. They had to take a couple of large trees down, before starting the slab, which was the right call, but we didn't get notified about that, and we just drove out there, and saw it first hand. The property was kept pretty clean, without an excessive amount of trash being spread around. We're in a very rural and remote area, and getting some of the contractors to go out there when they were supposed to, was an ongoing problem, but Dayton Smith was really on top of that, and he was the difference maker for progress on our house! Great individual who stayed very calm and collected thru the whole process! Some of the interior door finishing is still not up to good standards, some doors don't open and close well, and a couple of them need to be replaced, and Dayton is facilitating those improvements even now, so it's still ongoing for us, and it's been 4 months now since we moved in. I'm confident that these issues will be resolved! I think highly of what and how they accomplished for us, and I would recommend them to anybody! Sam Marino

Initially, I partnered with a very reputable small volume custom home builder. I already had a rough draft of the floor plan we'd need/wanted. A fairly well appointed, 3k SF "modern farmhouse" type build. I also had a fairly realistic, semi-agreed to budget during pre-plan. After a year of "design work" I was told that I had added so much to the plans that the actual cost to build was going to be 30% more than my budget ceiling. Shocked to say the least, knowing that wasn't a realistic option and not wanting to change anything relative to our plans, I began the thought of coordinating the build myself if the savings were to make it worthwhile and allow us to proceed as desired. That in-turn, after some searching and discussion with others who had utilized them, brought me to Green Built. Long story short, it was the most rewarding "work type" process of my life. Being involved in every single aspect. Making all decisions. Hiring the subs, executing the contracts... Being on-site virtually every day during the seven month build, only to ultimately be able to move into our "forever home" was, and continues to be, simply fantastic. In the end, I was able to complete the build (June 2020) for less than my original budget and $250k LESS than what my initial builder had quoted. Additionally, I was able to ADD quite a bit along the way such that our home has many more desirable features than it otherwise would have had. As to Green Built's process. I really didn't need or utilize my assigned consultant but it's good to know that safety net is available. No did I utilize their designers as I walked in with our plans in place. What I needed and was happy to pay for, was access to their vendor/trades list. Though I didn't use every trade from their network, every one I did utilize were excellent. That along with the provided "Build Binder" made the process extremely easy and for the most part, smooth/uneventful. If your one who is accustomed to putting together and driving a schedule, have some basic understanding of the home building process and are willing to invest 6-8 months to oversee the process while enjoying a SIGNIFICANT savings along the way.... I'd highly recommend you visit with Charlie and his group at Built Green and allow them to show you their program. If I were to ever need to build again, I'd certainly go this route.

I had talked to Charlie at Built Green and initially thought that it was not something that we wanted to do. After visiting with several, and I mean several builders over two years, and seeing the mark up, and seeing what most consider "upgrades", we decided to be our own General Contractor. I cannot recommend the process enough. We ended up with way more house than we would have had, had we gone with a builder. Our house is truly custom. We had zero issues with any of the contractors that Built Green provided/suggested. Our house is full of "upgrades". We did not have to deal with change orders, because anything we saw that we wanted to change, we could do it on the fly because we were there. Don't get me wrong, you don't have to be there every step of the way. The contractors that Built green has, are first rate, and most are used by the big builders. The Built Green process is however NOT a total hands off process, you do have to be involved, but it is not as time consuming as you think. I can promise you that you will want to be involved because you will be excited to see the day to day progress. Bryson was our Consultant, and he was always quick with any help we needed. Built Green puts on classes that will teach you what you need to do, and also introduce you to some of the Vendor/Contractors. All of the Consultants were very knowledgeable.

He said he fixed it, gave an invoice, asked me to call him if it continues to leak. All good so far, right? It started to leak at the same spot the next day. I had them back out again. In the middle of the visit, I go out to talk with them to find out what's up. He said he must of tightened something too tightly and caused a seal to break, and now it needs to be replaced. Not my fault, right? No, it's my fault. I had to buy a new part. Things happen, fine. I'm a little upset but I'll live. Now the pressure in my pool is high, and Jake advises a cleaning. I agree. He asks to use my chemical, the last of my Muriatic acid. I didn't like this at all, but he didn't give me a choice. Now I have to take time out of my day to go buy new chemical. During the filter cleaning, Jake and his help (Kevin) were constantly arguing back and forth. These remarks persisted through the entire visit, and was very unprofessional. They seemed like they were genuinely pissed off at one another. Here I am, now with invoices paid for both visits, and I don't feel good about it at all. There's too many pool repair companies for me to have to deal with the lack of professionalism during the call and additional charges for labor for things they admitted breaking. I guess I'll just have to deal with it, because Patten wouldn't offer to help me on the resulting bill at all. PS. I take that back, there's a .01 (penny) adjustment on my invoice. Seriously.

We DO NOT recommend Patten Pools or his new owner, Bill England. We hired them to replaster and fix…read moreour pool shortly after we bought our house in Grogan's Mill. I forwarded Bill the pool inspection report, and he emailed us a proposal stating what needed to be done, the job duration (7-10 days), and the cost ($6,348). We paid a 1/3 deposit. We told him we had never owned a pool before, and that we were not living in the house yet and would move to The Woodlands (from the East Coast) mid- to end-June. Patten's work was not good. Besides, despite our repeated requests, Bill was not always good at communicating and did not always show up when he said he would (once we paid someone to be at our property to give Bill access to the property, but Bill did not show up or call; after one hour of waiting we called and emailed Bill and he said he had a last minute emergency - but did not have the courtesy to call!). May and June rains delayed Bill's work. He called to ask if it was ok to start the work a couple of weeks later. We said ok (since we would move in mid-June). What he did not say was that the rains could ruin our pool and that we should get someone to take care of it until he could get to it. On June 11, we found a deep-green pool, and a pump with a huge leak problem at our new home. I called and emailed Paten; they sent someone who told us we would have to sandblast the flagstone. We got stuck paying an extra $1,500 to clean the now green-gunky flagstone - the same flagstone that two and a half weeks before had looked just fine, and that the rains and Patten's inattention and carelessness had contributed to turn green. (Bill could deny any wrongdoing by pointing out that it was OUR pool and our responsibility, and that we had only hired him to replaster it and repair it, and not to clean it, right? I ask, as a business owner, is it not appropriate to alert your customers of the risk that the rains may pose to their pool and the surrounding flagstone? Particularly to customers who have told you they have never owned a pool before and who are still on the East Coast?) A few days later, on June 24, his crew replastered our pool. They left a mess in our backyard. Two days later, I showed Bill the mess; he said someone would come clean it up. It took him a week and two reminders to clean it up - and not entirely. To this day, we have remains of plaster in our backyard. "The pump needs to run continuously for 72 hours", Bill wrote in his email instructions to us after he started the pool. But the pump suddenly stopped working the day after. We called him to tell him the pool pump had shut off, even though we had not come near it. He showed up at our house a few hours later, turned the pump on again, and explained that he had left the timer on because he was not wearing his prescription glasses the day before, and could not see well. His unapologetic tone was insulting. Patten's proposal included initial daily brushing of the pool, after replastering. Most pool experts recommend brushing once or twice a day for the first 14 days (we did not know this until a couple of weeks ago). We do not recall Patten's staff coming daily to brush our newly plastered pool; they may have come every other day or every three days, and only for a few days. Patten's proposal also included changing the GFCI, pool light bulbs and gaskets. That, in response to a problem identified in the pool inspection report we had given Bill. To this date, water condensation around the lights cause the GFCI to trip shortly after we turn them on. Patten did not address this problem - or perhaps the gaskets were improperly placed, who knows. We will have to pay another contractor to solve this problem. Bill's email instructions warned us "no swimming for one week". However, 3 weeks and $7,937.03 later, we still could not swim in our pool; and we were being charged extra for work that we understood was part of what we paid for. Also, Bill's email instructed us to "not put the cleaner in the pool for 2 weeks"; most pool experts (we later learned) warn against using wheeled devices within 28 days after replastering a pool because doing so sooner could cause wheel tracks to show on the pool finish. Someone from Patten put our Polaris cleaner in our pool on July 13, exactly 19 days from the date they started replastering our pool. On July 14, I went to Bill's office and left him a $6,026.03 check and a note saying we were less than satisfied with how the work was handled and the lack of communication. The next day I emailed him asking to not put salt in our pool (he said he would do so by July 17th, contradicting his own email instructions that said "no salt for 4 weeks"!). All we got was an email from him asking if we were switching to chlorine. No words from him since. One star b/c we texted him on 4 of July asking him what to do about the mosquito larvae and tadpoles breeding in our waterfall and he promptly replied (Clorox!).

You will find no one better than T&C. I was immediately sold on Town and Country from day 1 and it is purely because of Emil Hermis, our builder. I filled out a request for information and within an hour Emil came to our home and began designing. Emil immediately struck me as a man of integrity, dedication, and very knowledgeable. My first impression was not wrong, Emil is a master of his craft and every single detail mentioned was delivered upon with perfection. I cannot begin to describe how grateful and thankful to Emil we are. The contractors used by T&C are top notch. There wasn't a single crew that worked on our pool that wasn't simply amazing. All were incredibly friendly, respectful, diligent, and hard working. The quality and skill every single crew brought to the build cannot be understated.. and they did it in 100 degree Southeast Texas heat. I cannot stress enough to a potential pool buyer, take care of your crews working on your pool. It is boiling hot outside and these guys do not take breaks, get them Gatorade or water. It doesn't take much to take care for the people giving you their all in our weather. We love our new pool and could not recommend Town and Country enough. We will absolutely be repeat customers if the next home we buy needs a pool built. Thank you Emil, thank you Town and Country!
