I live on the golf course and I have received many compliments on the new addition to my house. My ONE gripe is one of their salesman, Dustin, did not impress. He does not have an eye for design and didn't know how to properly use his own company's rendering software. We had to use our own imagination and limited design knowledge the entire time. He NEVER took notes during our meetings, so we had to constantly remind him of the selections and changes we wanted to make. We had to pester him to update the contract and tell us the next steps needed to get the ball rolling. We almost didn't move forward with DWR. The other salespeople in the office/showroom were wonderful though. They had great suggestions and feedback that helped move our project forward. The lead contractor, Richard, we were assigned to was wonderful as well. He encouraged us to call him with any problems (which we did) and gave us very valuable and authetic feedback and suggestions on improvements to the design of the patio. His decades of experience were very instrumental in restoring our confidence. DWR does use some outside contractors, but they were very professional and we ended up using their electrician for our own needs later.

Even a few days later, when I thought of more things to ask, he was quick to respond and made sure I got the info I needed. I asked a lot of off the wall things, but he was patient and made sure I understood the explanation of different types of patios and materials. Before starting the project, he walked me through the plan and introduced me to my project manager, Luis. Luis was great, he kept me updated the whole way, even during the first week when I was out of town. I had no worries and I was able to enjoy my vacation while full on construction was going on at my home. Every crew that came out, roofing, painting, cement, told me what they were there to do and asked if I had any questions before getting started. I also have to mention Blanca in the office, every time I called, she was so friendly and easy to talk to, it was like I'd known her for years. The end result? My patio is beautiful! I was torn between putting money down on a larger home and moving, or building a patio to add square footage for gatherings. I am so happy I went with a new patio instead of the debt of a new home. I had to personally put getting any remodeling and home additions on hold while I cared for my dad for over a year. We talked about my patio dream before he passed in March. He kept telling me -"get that patio done". I'll think of him every time I'm enjoying my new space.

After contacting several contractors in the Woodlands area, we selected Primo Outdoor Living to…read morebuild a new construction covered patio. Primo was quick to respond to our initial request and provided a detailed and professional construction plan along with a 3-dimensional model of what the finished project would look like. Kevin and his team were able to quickly answer any questions that we had and provided a quotation within 2 days. Primo handled all the inspections and permits required for the Woodlands Association approval. Primo built a new 500 sqft gabled patio with a 7' wide wood burning (gas light assist) fireplace along with sitting benches on each side. The fireplace, benches and supporting posts are finished in natural stone veneer with a "dry stack" installation. The floor was constructed with Belgard Origins pavers in a Crab Orchard color. The ceiling was finished with a cedar tongue and groove finish along with a pony wall and cedar collar ties. To finish the project, Primo also installed new cedar fencing in the back yard. We are 100% completely satisfied with the workmanship and responsiveness of Primo Outdoor Living. They finished the project on time and were completely transparent with all aspects of the construction. In our opinion, Primo has an outstanding team that completed the project as agreed on. Kevin (owner) was at our site every morning to answer our questions and oversee the construction progress. The Primo construction crew were dependable and arrived early every morning. They did not require any micromanagement whatsoever. David, Juan, Jaime, Chealbi and the rest of the Primo staff are outstanding, easy to work with and can be counted on to do the right thing. We will definitely be using Primo on future outdoor projects.

His professionalism, expertise, and strong understanding of the scope of work quickly gave us the confidence we needed to move forward. The Primo team produced a 3D depiction of the final product along with detailed costs and a design presentation for our neighborhood HOA. As the project was underway, we were kept informed of progress routinely and often, mostly through face-to-face visits to our home as the work was being performed. The results are truly beautiful and have exceeded our expectations. The entire experience has been a pleasure!

And the old red tile decking was worn and chipped with gaps between the tread and risers of the steps. TRM rebuilt the whole entranceway, with a beautiful fiberglass single door with sidelights, a new overhead window, all centered with the front brick arch, new hardi -siding (with butt joints rather than lap joints at the corners) and travertine decking and steps. Also replaced the old red brick decking at our side entrance with travertine. The intricate woodwork and molding inside around door was replicated perfectly. Great job. Highly recommend.

Public Service Announcement (PSA) - Always do your due diligence…read more A few months ago, we completed our renovation project with Tim Fox, owner of Texas Remodel Team. Tim "bullied" us and used questionable tactics to make us feel that we were "stuck". These tactics affected us mentally and we were on the fence. Do we involve my attorney, which is costly. I determined I can fix these issues myself, thus we decided to complete the project and move on. Be done with Tim. Many neighbors urged me to provide a PSA. Overall, Tim Fox has the following: 1) "Passive aggressive / bullying tactics" to avoid taking accountability or doing additional work that impact his margin; 2) Lack of process transparency, and proper communications (e.g. communicate timely with complete information); 3) Questionable "sore loser" character. Below are examples documented in e-mail. 1. We replaced our island cabinet with a customer version. After it was delivered, I noticed defects. Took pics and e-mailed Tim with pointed statements, "I'm saving you time buy addressing this now. If this cabinet is installed in this condition, I'm not approving, and it has to be taken out. Custom cabinets should not have these items. I advise talking to your cabinet guy to save you time later and minimize the impact on the critical path" (exact words in e-mail). He was offended, I guess I hurt his feelings. We talked on the phone, and at one point he said. "I need to decide which customers I continue with, based on how much it would cost me". You got it, a threat to walk off. Well, I retained an attorney as experienced and creditable as his. Yes, I know which law office he goes to. 2. After our wood floor was replaced, I e-mailed Tim to notify him that I was not happy with the ¾ in quarter round baseboard. We originally had 1/2 inch quarter rounds. He replied, "Let's pause the project and discuss". Everyone I talked reacted the same, another threat to stop the project. At this point, we were to invested to turn back. 3. Painting the Kitchen was a nightmare. Tim's painter applied two coats of Promar 200. We told him that the old paint color is blending through. I told Tim I talked to Sherwin Williams, and they told me 2-3 coats maybe will cover it, and suggested a primer. Thus, I asked for a primer coat and a coat of Duration. At this point I wanted it to be done correctly. Tim argued with us for next day, saying that Sherwin Williams told him only two coasts were need. Number 6 and 7 occurred during this time. He did not want to pay his painter for the extra time. Ironically he wasted a day's worth by arguing. He finally agreed to another coat of duration. Shortly after, I e-mail Sherwin William and receive an office response, "we do always recommend a primer for the best possible finish". Plus I received the ProMar200 spec sheet and it lists a primer coast. During this, he tells only me wife..."I can bring a Sherwin Williams expert". My wife tells him sure. Why would he just tell her...sounds like another "bullying tactic". He claims he was listening. Well... 4. Also during the same phone conversation, Tim accused my stalling on payment for an invoice with the installed cabinets milestone. I e-mailed him a picture of the missing shelves on my customer cabinet near the garage and stated the cabinets are not complete. 5. The final invoice was the last straw. First, he tried to add additional change order changes based on selection overage. No conversation existed, and no documentation per our agreement. Then he added another set of change orders. One I remember, the other one he created the change order document that day. After agreeing to details of the final invoice...he just walked ago. No handshake / no goodbye in front of myself and his office manager. Tim preached that he listens and want to make the customer happy. We did not experience. Publishing this PSA is to protect myself from retaliation. We don't trust him. If he does retaliate, I will update this PSA, and my attorney will join the party.
