After placing my order for a tuna bowl, I approached one of the staff members behind the counter to inform them that I needed the sushi sauce and crunchy onions removed from my order due to my gluten allergy. Another staff member came over and started listing off the other ingredients that are in the tuna poke bowl to ensure everything else was okay, and I told them that it was. A minute goes by and the staff member who listing all of the ingredients called me back over to the counter. The staff member insisted that sushi rice is not gluten-free. I assured him of its gluten-free status, as I've ordered sushi numerous times without any issues. Unfortunately, he declined to check the label of the sushi rice for me and ultimately stated that he could not fulfill my order because of my allergy. This was an incredibly embarrassing moment for me, particularly as it took place in front of other customers. I fully understand the importance of food safety and caution, but I was clear about my consent and needs regarding my order. Anyone who has a gluten allergy knows dining out is already a challenging task, and we typically look forward to enjoying safe options, tuna poke bowls being one of mine. It is disappointing to see that individuals with food allergies may potentially be rejected service, and I strongly advise reviewing your food safety policies to ensure that customers with allergies feel welcomed and accommodated, not turned away and discriminated against.

What a nice surprise. Store was spotless, well-lit and had a decent selection of flavors (a few less than our hometown Sweet Frog, though, I think). Overall, nice treat after dinner.
