However, for my taste this places donuts are slightly on the denser side and lack much flavor in terms of the actual dough (which mostly just tastes like oil rather than a fresh, "bready(?)" flavor). I did not enjoy my usual favorite item at other spots, the jelly donut. The strawberry jam was overly sweet and tasted low quality (mostly like preservatives with the strawberry flavor utterly cooked off). I wish the texture was pillowy and the flavor of the donut itself higher quality (since these donuts are marketed as specialty/gourmet). They shine based on what fancy flavor is put on top. Overall, I may prefer another spot when considering the price and quality.

I love the selection between yeast and cake doughnuts! Kiddos! The flavors are really unique. I love the creativity. This really is a great shop!

The fired artichoke hearts were the standout. Perfectly breaded and fried, they were spectacular without the dipping sauce! Don't get me wrong the sauce was great and added layers of taste but you didn't need it to make the dish better. The street Corn Salad was generous but it a salad. It's not that I wouldn't recommend but keep your expectations low!

My steak was a little undercooked, but otherwise everything was excellent and we had a wonderful evening. One odd footnote: I ordered a bourbon with a large ice cube and discovered a $3 upcharge on the bill. I've been ordering bourbon and scotch at bars around the world for decades and can't recall encountering that before. I wasn't bothered by the $3 nearly as much as the surprise charge with zero disclosure. Nothing on the cocktail menu. Nothing from the waiter. No indication whatsoever that asking for a large rock carried an additional charge. Charge whatever you want, but tell the customer before adding it to the bill. When I mentioned it, they graciously removed the charge, and I had a very pleasant conversation with a manager who understood the point and agreed it should be disclosed going forward. That's exactly how good hospitality should work. Excellent restaurant, excellent experience, and absolutely somewhere I'd return.
