This girl runs on Duncan.

This girl runs on Duncan. After paying over $50 for a couple of egg sandwiches and 1/2 dozen donuts across the street, I decided to give this new Duncan Donuts a try. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and the price. I saved about half the price. There were tons of choices for both bagels and donuts. The lovely young lady who served me made a special strawberry iced donut, with sprinkles of course, for my granddaughter. The bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches were decent. The service was great! The restaurant was new and it was packed with customers. They have a drive through window for those folks that don't want to get out of their cars. I want to go back and try their lattes. This is an excellent economical way to feed the whole family and save some money for rides on the boardwalk. :)

Out front of this DD!

tge worst coffee shop. Sour chai latte, the cup is 1/3 empty, a lot of mistakes. Got cacao instead of latte.

Ran out completely of bagels and croissants before 12 pm on Saturday in the middle of July. Poor inventory control = poor management

Jay’s Cafe & Trading - Jay's Cafe Pastries

Jays Cafe did not disappoint. We tried two versions of the avocado toast and both were so good…read more Rob got the avocado toast on sourdough with bacon on top and it was full of flavor. The bread was toasted just right and held everything well without getting soggy. The avocado was fresh and generous, the tomato added a nice bright touch, and the seasoning on top gave it even more flavor. The bacon on top really pulled it all together and made each bite even better. I got the avocado toast on wheat with the bacon on the side and I loved it. The wheat bread gave it a hearty feel and the avocado was creamy and well seasoned. The tomatoes were fresh and the whole dish tasted light but still filling. The bacon on the side was cooked just right and paired perfectly with the toast. Everything looked fresh, tasted fresh, and felt like a breakfast worth talking about. My one recommendation would be to slice the toast to make it easier to eat, especially with all of those toppings. Jays Cafe gave us a simple meal done really well, and that is exactly what makes a place stand out.

Stopped by Jay's on a recent trip to OC. Great selection of gourmet coffee, pastries, dessert items, and just really clean, quaint interior if you're dining in. We ordered online but the staff were extremely friendly and courteous when we arrived. I ordered an everything bagel with cheddar, sausage and egg along with hash browns. Everything hit, toasted, cooked perfectly and the hash browns were great as well. Really elevated for a breakfast sandwich. I don't live in the area, but I know this will be a stop every time we're in town. I highly encourage you to give them a try next time you're in OC.

The café has such a fresh, clean, and charming vibe--perfect for a relaxed bite. I also sampled the Protein Espresso, which wasn't quite my taste, but the staff was kind when I asked about alternatives. Even though they couldn't swap it out, the lovely atmosphere more than made up for it. Such a pretty spot.

Service was excellent as well. Large Cold Brew ($6.25) the coffee beans they used were flavorful. For extra, I added coconut cold foam and coconut syrup. Unfortunately, the cold foam only had a faint coconut flavor so not sure if it was worth the extra cost. The coconut syrup must have been all at the bottom because I didn't taste much coconut flavor in the cold brew. I also tried their signature iced latte, The Stoked, which has espresso, oat milk, coconut flavor and mocha drizzle. I can see why this is their signature drink. At first, I was afraid it was going to be too sweet, but it turned out excellent. Reminded me of Samoa cookies in a drink. The oat milk also added a good creaminess to the drink. The Smash Toast ($13) Avocado toast on a slice of sourdough bread with cherry tomatoes, feta cheese, everything seed mix, and microgreens. There was excellent flavor, but could have used a bit more acidity. I will applaud them on whatever olive oil they used because tasted like it was high quality and very aromatic. The Tidal Toast ($15) Smoked salmon layered on a herb cream cheese spread and topped with arugula, cucumber, and pickled red onion. This toast was delicious! My favorite component was the pickled red onions - it added both tartiness and a slight sweetness.

When I got to the front, I ordered one of the colorful bagels, and the woman behind the counter quickly and bluntly said no -- they were reserved for someone else. She then grabbed the bagels with her bare hands and shoved them aside. It all made for a pretty awkward moment. On the upside, I ordered a different bagel with plant-based cream cheese, and I was so happy they had a vegan option. My partner's breakfast sandwich came out hot just a few minutes later -- fast and tasty. The woman at the register didn't seem especially friendly, but overall, the food was good and service was quick.

However, the limiting menu here made it hard when ordering a bagel sandwich. The order came out quickly and was correct. The avocado was fresh. Sadly, the bagel was barely toasted and while they have eggs and vegan eggs, they did not have egg whites. They also did not have regular bacon, so we had to order turkey bacon. I think if you want just a bagel with cream cheese, butter, etc., then this is your spot! The bagel smelled amazing and was clean. It was conveniently located, making it easy and quick to try, however, we were just disappointed in the lack of menu options for a bagel sandwich.
