My husband and I waited in the drive through for over forty five minutes. It would take less time to drive to a Dunkin farther away.

Con: they have very limited parking and limited seating. Nothing crazy. We were greeted by a taller big guy kindly at first-- that is until he heard our order. As soon as he heard that we wanted to pick our own cookies, he huffed and sighed taking out the box...which fine, we have both worked retail and understand the mid-day burn out. We decide to keep the box light with 8 cookies. Instead, he points to the pre-packaged cookies with about 30 cookies wrapped up. I look at them and thank him for the offer, but that we would like a smaller amount. Another head shake and sigh. We proceed to pick out our cookies and thank him heartily...all with no reply from him. We were simply coming in to order cookies and left feeling like we did something wrong. After that negative interaction, we decided to shake it off and eat some cookies in our car by the beach. Unfortunately, our cookies were stale and many of the cookies tasted the same despite being completely different kinds...2/5 experience, however I will update with another visit to see if that changes or if I just came at a bad time. Edit: Owners do not seem to care about reviews here. Updated to a 1/5 stars.

A few families were agitated and we could tell the atmosphere was moody. We placed an order, waited 40 minutes and discovered (by asking) that our order was never placed with the kitchen. We get the order (total wait time was 1hr/55 minutes or so) and head out. My daughter starts to drink her vegetable spinach banana smoothie. She starts complaining that something is scratching and irritating her throat, we respond by saying oh it's fine probably just the spinach. We get home and she's really coughing and gagging. She runs to the toilet and vomits profusely, everywhere. Within seconds we see what happened. She was drinking shredded f'ing plastic. We pulled away the cup and emptied it into our hands over the sink and there it was. Shredded plastic (two kinds!!!!) in the DOZENS. Small and large partials. She ingested half a plastic bag or something. Ran to hospital. This is where we are. This place will hear from us. No questions asked. SHUT THEM DOWN! Health partner SHUT THEM DOWN!

Adventure Buddy and I were visiting Mystic, Connecticut, from out of town for a trade show, and…read moreafter enjoying dinner downtown, I found myself facing a familiar situation...I needed dessert. Naturally, our post-dinner walk turned into a search for something sweet, and that's when we stumbled upon Sift Bake Shop. Oh, hello there! We opened the door and immediately knew we'd found our dessert destination. The bakery was bright, welcoming and absolutely adorable, with display cases FULL of beautiful baked goods. I started smiling from ear to ear before we'd even gotten close enough to properly inspect everything. And then I saw what was inside those cases. Cookies. Cakes. Pastries. So many beautiful little creations practically begging me to take them home. Suddenly, we had a problem. I wanted everything. After several minutes of me staring lovingly at the desserts and attempting to make what felt like an impossible decision, Adventure Buddy gently reminded me that we were not, in fact, purchasing the entire bakery. RUDE. But admittedly, he had a point. I finally settled on the Peanut Butter Sandwich Cookie ($4.50), featuring two peanut butter cookies with peanut butter frosting sandwiched between them. Adventure Buddy selected the Opera Cake ($9.45), made with espresso-soaked almond sponge cake, chocolate ganache, coffee and hazelnut mousse. We ordered everything to go so we could take our treasures back to the hotel and enjoy a proper sweet-tooth nightcap. And THAT was an excellent decision. First up, my peanut butter sandwich cookie. As someone whose personality is approximately 63.8% peanut butter, I consider myself qualified to evaluate this particular dessert. IT. WAS. FANTASTIC. The cookies were wonderfully soft and chewy, with what seemed like a little oat texture mixed in. The peanut butter frosting was smooth, creamy, rich and perfectly peanut buttery. Everything worked beautifully together, and I was one very happy peanut butter enthusiast. Then I tried Adventure Buddy's Opera Cake. WOWZA! The layers of different textures were incredible! The espresso-soaked almond cake, creamy mousse and rich chocolate ganache came together beautifully. And that chocolate ganache?! To die for! I'm not usually someone who gravitates toward coffee-flavored desserts, but this was absolutely worth stealing a few bites of! What made this discovery even better was learning that Sift is a family-owned, French-focused bakery operated by Pastry Chef Adam Young, with everything made from scratch in-house. They offer everything from artisan breads and breakfast pastries to sweet and savory treats, so clearly we only scratched the surface of what they're creating. For about $14, Adventure Buddy and I enjoyed two fantastic desserts and turned an ordinary evening at our hotel into a delicious little date-night finale. We stumbled upon Sift completely by accident, and I'm SO glad we did! We'll absolutely be back the next time we're adventuring in Mystic because there were approximately 47 other things in those cases that I still need to try.
