    Burned bagel
    Mo P.

My bagel was burned as heck. The manager was very rude. Not worth the price for a cremated sandwich. Very disappointing. Was a first time customer, but the rude environment put a bad taste in my mouth...as did the burnt bagel. No one wants to go to a place that makes them feel like they hate you for being there.

Spinach, artichoke, feta bagel with sundried tomato CC

Deke's has been on my radar because friends have posted about their Guilford location on Instagram. I've been planning to visit for a while, but to my surprise, I drove by the Niantic Deke's on the way to our weekend rental. I visited Deke's two times over the weekend for bagels, a breakfast sandwich and/or iced coffee. Everybody liked their orders. My orders included a Spinach, Artichoke and Feta Bagel with Sundried Tomato Cream Cheese and a Chili Releno Breakfast sandwich with to die for ham. The flavors and textures were on point. I could taste the oven in the bagels in a good way. The iced coffee was good as well. The number of bagel and cream cheese options available seem to be a big selling point of Deke's. Deke's is one of the better bagel spots in CT. I recommend you visit them in Guilford, Niantic or wherever else they may be. Five Stars

The quality and service at Deke's has definitely gone downhill over the last few years. When I was placing my order, the person taking it was quite rude and acted like he didn't understand what I was trying to order. Two bacon egg and cheese sandwiches came out to about $19, which is a little pricey for what I received. The bagels are super thin and the amount of bacon is lacking. The egg is also pretty small. My wait was not too long but there were people waiting 30 mins in front of me. I remember being obsessed with Deke's but it is definitely not the same bagel place I used to love.

Ham, Egg & Cheese on a Sesame Bagel! FABULOUS!

FANTASTIC BAGEL JOINT? I have been twice now & the bagels are outstanding! I had an Everything Bagel with scallion cream cheese, tomato & smoked salmon. The bagel was perfect: lotsa of toppings on the bagel to give it wonderful flavor. The bagel was light with a slight chewy texture. The smoked salmon was excellent quality k was cured perfectly. The cream cheese was lightly whipped with a nice tang from the fresh scallions. Today, I had a ham, egg & cheese on a sesame bagel. All the ingredients were fresh & cooked perfectly. Staff is wonderful: courteous, friendly, helpful & efficient! Very clean establishment also. I am adding this place to my regular rotation! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

    The Squared- delicious!

Great spot in Niantic for breakfast with friendly service - we sat outside and all loved our bagels and sandwiches. Lots of options.

One of the best bagels and cream cheese I have ever tasted. I even debated to go back for a second !! Cozy place, and the staff was kind.

The bagels are good. The service is very very consistently painful. Confused, slow, unapologetic.

Just went for the first time in over a year. This place isn't the same anymore. The bagels aren't bagels anymore, way too soft and thin.

Nothing crazy. We were greeted by a taller big guy kindly at first-- that is until he heard our order. As soon as he heard that we wanted to pick our own cookies, he huffed and sighed taking out the box...which fine, we have both worked retail and understand the mid-day burn out. We decide to keep the box light with 8 cookies. Instead, he points to the pre-packaged cookies with about 30 cookies wrapped up. I look at them and thank him for the offer, but that we would like a smaller amount. Another head shake and sigh. We proceed to pick out our cookies and thank him heartily...all with no reply from him. We were simply coming in to order cookies and left feeling like we did something wrong. After that negative interaction, we decided to shake it off and eat some cookies in our car by the beach. Unfortunately, our cookies were stale and many of the cookies tasted the same despite being completely different kinds...2/5 experience, however I will update with another visit to see if that changes or if I just came at a bad time.

While browsing the menu, Anna came out to greet our party and ask if we had any questions with the menu- this is a kind of service that you don't usually expect nowadays. The food was outstanding and the waitstaff was attentive to our party throughout the event. The menu was eclectic and original and the presentation was out of this world. Everyone at the table got different things and we all left with clean plates. I think we all agreed that this was one of the best meals we've had. I understand that this was a unique event, but this was an amazing reflection of La Belle Aurore and the care that they put into food and atmosphere. I'd recommend to anyone looking for some awesome, unique food.

As a result we were able to taste a number of their starters, a real winner was the crab rangoon tart there. For dinner we ordered tasting sizes of the pasta alla vodka and beef bolognese. I really like the thoughtfulness of having smaller plates be an option, for whatever reason you want it for. Also, they used campanelle pasta, rather than your standard noodles. Some real awareness of the right pasta pairing for the sauce evidenced for you. The only quibble there was the lack of seasoning in the sauce, but there was salt on the table to bring that up. The service is wicked friendly and attentive. The ambiance is certainly bohemian, with mismatched furniture and faux foliage hanging from the ceiling. The biggest ding is accessibility. One of the people at the event was in a motorized chair, and in order for them to move about or get to the restroom was a production. The tables and chairs are tightly packed, so I'd imagine someone on crutches or a walker would also have difficulty of movement. The menu changes as local ingredients come in or out of season. The current menu is available on their website. It is not large, so you know they're doing a few things and doing them right. I can recommend checking this place out.
