I looked in my purse hoping to find cash, and i had 5 dollars,no 20 cents, and so i told her just take out a cookie, and she did so, which made me sad, because you couldnt find it in your heart to let me go for 20 cents, but its a long standing business and businesses dont thrive if you give free stuff away. And besides that i wanted to come on and give a good review but i cant. That cookie was so burned and hard, it was inedible and the bar, was a huge mass of brown sugar crust, it was mainly crust with hardly any cake underneath, so sadly i didnt enjoy either purchase. Darling Doughnuts offers a rotation of weekly flavors to choose from. The donuts are square and are also available in mini sizes. We picked Boston cream, Churro, and classic vanilla sprinkle. The texture was really nice and light with strong flavor. Loved the donuts! I liked the Churro best as they make the chocolate with a hint of cayenne, so you get a kick of flavor there. The shop atmosphere was fun and gave me a Wes Anderson movie vibe with the colors and decor. Service was friendly and quick. Took a minute to decide but they were patient with us. Sugar would get everywhere and you would soon be a sticky mess. Saving them for later would be a tragedy, since apple cider donuts are so much better when they are warm. It's a rare treat to get warm cider donuts. As Otis said, these are decidedly more aggressive on the spicing. I tasted not just cinnamon, but also nutmeg. Are they worth an hour drive? Probably not. Inside is small and there are no seatings so everyone seemed to be coming to pick up their orders. Inside is decorated with lots of different colors and really gives off LGBTQ vibe. My drink was creamy and slightly sweet matcha flavor was nice and light. Only thing that could have been better is if the donut could be warmer. Especially with apple cider donut it would have tasted better slightly warm. May be good to offer option to heat it up for customers at least those that are eating right after purchase there. Their breakfast anecdote sandwiches are amazing (I recommend adding the peppers and onions!) and their pudding buns are to die for. it's become our go to place once each weekend with our little girls (they are closed for summer vacation now). I've stores in a couple of times on random weekdays and that's the only time I've found the it cream puffs, they are so good! Next to the register was a small package wrapped in red & white string, labeled "Bonnie's Uncommon Fruitcake." I've been a sucker for trying fruitcakes ever since I had my first slice of Freihofer's Fruitcake over seventy years ago. Here was a locally baked fruitcake with no difficult to pronounce or preservative ingredients. That definitely made it "Uncommon." Pecans, dates, candied fruit (cherries, pineapple), eggs, sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt. That's it! I thought it tasted delicious. It was not overly sweet, had a good amount of nuts and candied fruit, and there was minimal cake (flour) holding it all together perfectly.
